  1. Yeah i can imagine that, however the weirdest thing is that being an ex footballer doesnt make you intelligent, or knowledgeable, or insightful, or professional, or even capable of scouting and spotting talent. (you might be all those things as an ex footballer - but it isnt automatic) It kind of reminds be of general business 30 years ago (and even present day tbh), where it was all who you knew, not what you knew, the exact opposite of a meritocracy, almost dark ages stuff and its weird with football "modernizing" around diets, data, information etc, that this hasnt spread to the people they seek to employ?!?!?! its mind boggling tbh.
  2. in a post match (or was it pre match?), interview a couple of weeks ago, DS said that he, Purslow and Jesus have a whats app group where the discuss possible players etc. So from that i "assume" that in this group they a) decide what they need, then b) they get proposals from whoever, c) discuss viability, decide to progress a bid etc, and d) DS has the final say? obviously im assuming a lot there :), but DS defo said they had a whats app group where they discuss possible signings a lot.
  3. really?, i agree we shouldnt if the fee is stupid, but if its good value due to him only having 18 months on his contract i dont see why not?, he's a very good player. Maybe even Rico Henry depending on whether his injury history is a risk and value. Brentford have 2 or 3 really good players. (Sawyers, Henry, Maupay, Mepham?), and i think a couple more are also very good, whether they would flourish here i dont know, but there is no denying they do have a few excellent players at Brentford. Granted if we can find our own hidden treasures then im all for that, but we will likely also need to sign some proven players, as well as take a punt on a few rough diamonds with potential?.
  4. tried ot find some clips of Radoja, pretty much all i could find was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3J-WFrYwv8&t=13s will have another look, from that vid tho, looks like he has two good feet, and isnt a weakling, who knows though?!!?, one match highlight reel from 2 years ago isnt great for assessing a player.....
  5. to be fair, i agree if the 110k is true, we could pay 3 - 4 players wages for that (3 - 4 new signings), for the value of one. Yeah it would be nice to have him, but......prudence and all that.
  6. pretty sure i read somewhere that he was now employed as a scout for us, as for the rest, dont know.
  7. thanks for the response appreciated. Reading that though, it almost sounds criminal, £10 for finding Zaha?, with all the money in football, the kinds of scenario's you are explaining seem almost like something that would go on in the third world (kind of like indian kids making £100 jumpers for a bowl of rice a day, while working 18 hour days 7 days a week). Im amazed that with the money and prestige around world football, that the sport accepts that kind of blatant treatment of anyone involved in the sport.....amazing.......thanks for the overview though very interesting reading I reckon any scout who find a player for X club, should get X amount of any future sell on fee......like 0.1 % or something!?!? (i dunno, just a number i threw in there ) I wonder if 1 or 2 clubs offered something like that, it might encourage scouts to go to them immediately and bypass any other clubs as they know of the future potential earning on a "good player", might be a way to get all the good youth?, but prob doesnt work like that at all due to the networks today and the fact that almost everything about every player is probably already known (to a degree).
  8. Not asking for details etc, but always curious about scouting. Do you work for a club or are you like a free Lancer? Do scouts generally make an ok living or are there large variances in earning potential? How easy is it to become a scout and be able to support yourself?, ie: is it a role you really need some background in or "knowing the right people"? Sorry for the questions was always curious
  9. If we do bring him back he really needs to be just a stop gap or back up. We can't have another 5ft 10in CB and expect to be sound defensively in a league like this. The fact is he isn't good enough for what we want long term, and his contract is up at the end of this season and I don't see us extending it. So as I say, stop gap u too we can sign better or backup for injuries etc, shouldn't be any more than that.
  10. This is a seriously good post, and shows the perspective we should have when assessing how we are doing under smith, but also how we can assess that against Bruce considering who each manaher has played in their tenure this season. Very insightful, those colours speak a thousand words.
  11. yeah i just youtube'd it, it really did happen, its not a parallel universe where keepers palm shots in to their own net.....this is reality right?!
  12. Yeah, i tend to think Houllier at the time was doing the right stuff, pity it ended like it did. From what i remember he was trying to get us playing proper football, and i also remember him being very pro Bannan, as i say, pity it ended like it did.
  13. which game was it he parried in to his own net??
  14. isnt that just one level above "has a pulse"?????
  15. because they are already up the table and mostly have a balanced team that can accommodate blooding players. we are playing catch up, with an entirely lop sided team with multiple injuries and every point dropped is a major issue for us having any chance to get "there or there abouts" Sure there are other reasons also, but our overall current scenario isnt great i dont think for blooding untried youth, or maybe its actually the ideal time?!?!?!
  16. Subasic (AS Monaco - 34 years old) played all of Croatia's games in the world cup (in goal ofc), apart from the game versus Iceland where Kalinic played. Of the 5 UEFA Nations League games since Sept, Kalinic played in 4 of them (vs Portugal, Spain, Spain again, England). There was also one International match after the WC (vs Portugal), which Kalinic played in. (not sure what that match was all about?) How i would understand that information (not confirmed or known by myself - im guessing), is that he's currently the No 2 GK for Croatia, with a few caps under his belt, possibly now being played after the WC to develop in to their No 1 when Subasic retires from international football? edit: Jamaican Villa confirmed above Subasic has retired, so it does seem i was mostly right, and now he's Croatia's No 1 GK.
  17. Personally I wouldn't play him on the 5th, it's versus Swansea in the cup isn't it? If that is the case I would personally play a development team versus Swansea, like ohare, Revan, davis and any other players who dont normally play in the first team on a weekly basis etc, I would also let nyland play in that game. Reason being is to give him a few more days to settle in to the club, as well rest some players as it's a congested week, the cup to me isn't important, we need fresh legs in the league imo. Also if we did do a development team I would t want him conceding goals and maybe knocking his confidence in his first game not playing with the A team.
  18. no problem mate all those old legs will have plenty of time to recover we have a game in 3 days, plenty of time to recove........oh wait.....NOOOOOOOO!
  19. agreed, he needs his chance! (at RB - not LB, CB, DMC ORRRRRR STRIKER!!!! )
  20. Who would have thought with some of the comments on here someone was pining for Taylor to return to the starting lineup!!!!!
  21. how tall is Bree?, i have seen some sites report him as 5ft 7, while i have seen other report him as 6ft?!?!?!?!
  22. yeah 90th minute penalty save after El Ghazi fouled someone.
  23. goals in the 4th and 8th minute of stoppage time, someone needs to check them out, i reckon they have some hack codes for this league.....
