I have literally no idea, the justification for playing Watkins considering his current form, the way the ball bounces off him back to the opposition, its like they have an extra man defending for them, so its like 10 vs 12. McGinn cant play a composed passing style, he's seriously a panicked chicken head on the ball. Cash is disastrous when he goes beyond the half way line. Luiz is rubbish, i dont care what anyone says, hes not athletic, he's not quick, he dallies on the ball and does very little, he isnt aggressive or helps defensively much, such an overrated player imo. How we can have Coutinho & Buendia up front, and we just lump balls to them, is beyond me, its literally the most stupid, idiotic, brainless thing to do, and we do it time and again, its shocking to watch.

Cash - dire. Luiz - dire, McGinn - dire. Watkins - dire. Lumping the ball up to Coutinho and Buendia who are 2ft tall against 15ft defenders - check. The Ball bouncing of wooden plan Watkins - check. Forward plays breaking down with Watkins and Cash, over and over - check. Cash looking like he doesnt know what to do with the football when he passes the half way line - check. Luiz not showing for balls, taking his time and doing nothing with it, over hitting free kicks constantly - check. McGinn looking like a panicked chicken head and just......wasting possession - check Half this team is bottom half quality.

Newcastle's average height is 12ft 9in, our average is 4ft 2 in. We plough high balls up front constantly, wondering why nothing sticks. Watkins is literally a plank of wood, everything bounces off him. We dont even try to use our best 2 players (Coutinho & Buendia), who are both short, no no, lets pump long balls at them. Again, we see the panic merchants / weak minded play, panic panic, punt it, swing your foot at the ball...players not showing for the ball. im really unsure what is going to happen here. It could quite as easily be: 1) Great display of composure, attacking intent and solid defending, or 2) Weak minded, panic merchant, bottle job loss. I'm leaning towards the second option, as Newcastle will have their tails up and come at us with physicality, which normally leads to option 2 happening. The only positive i can take from the fact either can happen with us, is at least Gerrard gets to see the weak-minded, panic merchant, bottle job performances first hand, so he can see exactly who needs replacing in the summer.

Yeah, i know we probably havent performed as expected, partly due to injuries etc etc, but..... one player sold for 100m, total player sales in the summer totalled 115m ish. Players in: Buendia - 34m Bailey - 29m Digne - 27m Ings - 25m Chambers - free Coutinho - Loan Total outgoings - roughly £0m. Hopefully the balanced spending/income this year will allow us a super summer of signings!

or, Buendia, Coutinho and £33m offered in exchange! I would 100% have taken it.

i think its a multi-layered meaning thing from Carragher, lets not forget that Carragher and Gerrard are very good friends. 1) He's stating a fact, Coutinho probably would turn the clock back if he could, and that he probably does at least in part, regret leaving Liverpool, where he was loved and adored. 2) Carragher has no doubt had many conversations with his very good friend Gerrard, Carragher might know that Gerrard wants to keep him, so Carragher is doing the "good pundit friend" thing, and gently reminding Coutinho that..."you wanna stay with Gerrard mate". 3) Gerrard really wants to keep Coutinho, so he is doing all he can, both within the club, and through his media friends to...."help Coutinho make the right decision"...aka: stay at Villa this summer.

he's going to be completely broken by the time he is 30 isnt he, these "shin splint" injuries seem to really be an issue for him. Will be interesting to see how long he is out for, as he has already missed 30 games in 3.5 years with the shin-bone or calf injury issues (if transfermarkt is correct). I was super sad at the time he left, but i am wondering if we absolutely benefitted massively from the 100m, and absolutely pulled their pants down. Wonderful player for us, but on balance....maybe it was, in hindsight, an amazing move for Villa as a club.

i dont get all the extreme polarised views on here, its like left wing versus right wing politics. Mings is a decent mid table PL player, he does good things, he is prone to silly mistakes, he isnt responsible for all mistakes, other players make mistakes also, to greater or lesser degrees. At least in my opinion....and you are also entitled to your own! (shock horror).
