  1. I can understand the worry he might move on but whilst you have him, enjoy him and use his abilities to get a firm foothold in the top league. One thing for sure, which he showed at us and St Mirren before, is that despite talk of transfers he will give you 100%......a true professional.
  2. Good effort yesterday against a side who have spent mega, were in the top euro final and are strongly tipped to be the challenge to Man City and Liverpool this season. Football is all about results and up to 84 minutes, even though it was all hands to the pump at times in defence, if the result ( even a draw would have been fantastic) had stood people would have been on here with great optimism about the coming season. OK Kane popped up and spoilt these thoughts but , similar to our own forums, it then takes no time for all the doom and gloom merchants to be in evidence and forget about the positives shown. People have mentioned Norwich being pumped at LFC but at least Villa were in the game to the last 5 minutes. The one I would be taking would be the fact the defense looked up to top premier league opposition for a vast time in the game compared to much of last season. Goalie looked assured and I have liked Mings since he joined you last year. It is going to be a steep learning curve in the PL so lets see how the manager does over the next 4 or 5 games but as always wish you all the best.
  3. Good luck in your first game back at the big boys table. I'd imagine you are feeling a little like us before our game tomorrow at Ibroke in that a draw would be a fantastic result. However what I want to see by us and Villa is that the team had a go and were not intimidated by the opposition. The worst result is always where the manager parks the bus but you still get spanked. They have a lot of pressure on them after all the money spent so believe in your abilities and have a go,..........in their faces from the start and press them high. 'mon Villa
  4. My English side, Hereford FC ( I know I'm a Trophy hunter ) are playing Aston Villa under 23s at the end of July. Chance I will be down at Edgar Street to see how the Bulls are looking for the new season but will be good to run an eye over the Villa youngsters trying to make the grade into a Premiership side.
  5. Aye, in Hibs circles that is a vast amount to boost our season. Peanuts now for the Premier League and even the English Championship.
  6. Guy who wrote it in the Scottish Sun.......say no more.........is an idiot and before SJM went to you from us he assured everybody and especially Celtic that the deal was 100% done and dusted for his move to Parkhead. Up here we take whatever he says with a massive pinch of salt ......and a bottle of buckie As much as Hibs would like it to be true ( sell on clause would give us vital money) I believe it to be sensationalist clap trap. SJM is unproven in the Premier League so I think he should stay at AVFC for another season so we can all see how he copes against some of the top players in the World. On the same thought clubs such as MUFC will then have time to see his development and then come in with 50 million if that is his fee.
  7. Robertson apparently picked up an injury in the last game and Clarke started with a side to just defend and to a certain extent, park the bus. Was surprised McGinn didn't come on when they needed a goal and legs were getting tired. Too early to really get an impression on how his tenure is going to develop the Scottish national side.
  8. As long as it is not with us.................'well beckons again.........not even sure they will want him either. Big difference now is that Villa aren't there to pay the vast majority of his wages so he may come down to earth with a bump once he has spent his severance pay on his ex, haggis, irn bru and buckie.
  9. Well done Villa.......back where you belong Pleased for everyone at Villa..... players, staff, fans and of course SJM. Missed the game and I expect the final minutes were a bit squeaky bum time but you got the result and that is all that counts. .........we've got McGinn, super John McGinn........ sorry should be.......You've got McGinn......
  10. Done marvels at Killie with next to no money and average attendances at around 6k per game. Like him and a good shout to be the next Scotland manager......now theres a poisoned chalice
  11. Well done Villa. When some Norwich City mates came up for a game a few weeks ago I said then that they would be Champions, Sheff United would be second and Leeds would lose to Villa in the final...............................going well so far. Missed the game last night but have been at a few semi finals that went to pens and know how nerve racking they are. Last one was the semi when we won the cup in 2016 and our keeper that day had a blinder and saved their first two.................went on to win against sevco so hope it is a good omen for you lads in 12 days. 'mon Villa, get back to where you should be.
  12. Aye, very true Stockbridge..............I remember only one when given a straight red v Falkirk but that was downgraded on appeal. I think his style of play means that a yellow in the game is always on the cards........pardon the pun
  13. He's a St Mirren boy really like his brothers but like to think we guided him in the right direction for you.
  14. Another great result, especially with a weakened side. I thought you would miss Mings and Jack more but you kept the run going. Play offs certainly beckon and then.......who knows
  15. We still struggle with wages as do most clubs outside the 2 uglies although agree we can pay a little more than St Mirren. This was highlighted when Aberdeen lost Adam Rooney to an English non league club ( Salford ?) as they could offer him twice the wage that the dons could.
  16. Aye, we always reckon he buys his shorts from the kids section in the clubstore lol
  17. Well past his best but clubs allow him to stroll around the park and wind up the opposition. He would struggle anywhere outside of Celtic now. His main job today was to wind sevco up which worked a treat.
  18. Typical bigot fest that the media and authorities will be creaming themselves over up here. Fans on pitch after Smeltic score, steward hurt Morelos sent off having been set up by Brown Usual sectarian singing Kent should have been sent off after flooring Brown again after Smeltics second...............Brown should have received a second yellow and should have been off also. Halliday ( Hibs favourite sevco player ) should have gone after the whistle for the fighting at the end. ( Kent and Halliday I feel will get retrospective punishment???) .............................and what will happen to the 2 clubs..............................nothing as usual as they are all that is important. Lennon out of his area again....................will be interested to see what punishment he gets for that Yet us and all other clubs in Scotland have to be grateful for what ever small scraps we can get off the big boys table and take our punishment from the SFA as required with the usual minimal copy from the media.
  19. LOL.................Being a visitor, I cannot give "likes" etc but that is clever sidcow.
  20. Many clubs affected by this including us , Celtic and Hearts up here. They all say they are looking at an alternative to zebra and like you we are hoping they extend the "early bird" package if time drags on.
  21. Incidentally a return ticket stub for the uefa cup tie v Liverpool at Anfield in 1975 has just sold for £213. The game eventually ended up a Liverpool win..............................Hibs won 1.0 up here at Easter Road with a 3.1 scoreline at Anfield. We missed a last minute penalty at Easter Road which would have given us a 2 goal cushion and of course in the modern game we would have progressed due to away goals. ( Not sure when that rule came in but would have been much later than 75)
  22. I'm afraid money has taken a toll on the mighty . The thing that people forget is that if they were in the Premier League in England or the Championship they would become a force to compete properly with the extra revenue they would get courtesy of those leagues, TV , satellite etc etc. They have a fantastic fan base and the grounds already. The prize money also is a lot less with the winner of the SPL getting less in real terms than the relegated teams in the Premier League. Hence the reason they keep trying to get into the English Leagues who naturally enough do not want them whereas up here anyone who is not a fan of the uglies want them to f**k off. When I first watched Hibs in the 70's we drew with the great Revie Leeds side and should have won and we beat Liverpool in Europe. First game at Easter Road was against Juventus..............no way now can we afford to compete at this level now and the big differential for this has happened over the past 20 to 30 years. I thought you would be pleased McGinn was on the bench........no chance of being injured and comes back raring to go for the Villa.
  23. OK , some key players missing and a sh*te artificial pitch but even so that is a dreadful result............McLeish should go soon The natives up here are not happy Fortunately being Welsh it doesn't really affect me and am still hung over after the rugby last weekend.
  24. Spent the weekend up here with some Norwich City mates who came up for the Motherwell game........................................consensus amongst them and the Hibs forum is that.................. Norwich will win the league with Sheffield United second. Leeds to bottle the run in and lose in the play off final to Villa. Sounds good to me! Seriously I just hope you can pick up the momentum again after the International break but the big thing at present is the confidence factor will be back. The return of Grealish has been instrumental in sparking this and from what I gather Whelan { usually receives pelters on here!) had a great game against 'boro so it just shows what confidence can do to a side.......keep it going
