  1. Good to see him back out training today. If he's on the grass he must be back in the next couple of weeks. With our striker situation having him back will be a big plus.
  2. One thing I've just noticed the last minute goal came from all three centre backs. Hause wins the initial header, Tyrone get a few touches in the box and Konsa fires at goal. Amazing fighting spirit from the team! Could be a season defining moment added to the last minute winner against Brighton earlier in the season.

This one seemed done and dusted about a week ago but now it seems to have gone cold. He's obviously one for the future but I'll be disappointed if we don't wrap it up this month.
  4. I doubt I'm alone on this but I'd love to see Brentford get promoted. Such a well run club and hopefully can push on in the new stadium! But I'd still like Said Benrahma if he's available.
  5. Seems to be a theme but I only caught the second half. Everything was better, passing, ball retention, movement, defending. All looked comfortable. Having said that Reina needed to be on his toes. I though Marv was the best player on the park, he was everywhere. I didn't think Drinkwater was poor but Douglas gives so much more going forward. Jack was Jack, full of energy and looked to get at Watford at every chance. I must admit when the ball hit Tyrone's hand I did think he would get a second yellow. I think we got away with one there. But the fight shown and the celebrations after the goals shows you what it means. We need that again against Bournemouth but we should have one if not two new strikers in by then which will help the cause.
  6. I think if you consider these two posts you know why Hause will start tonight. Expect Hause to step onto Deeney when Watford hit the ball long. Mings and Konsa will look for the second balls.
  7. Listening to DS yesterday I get the feeling he will start Vassiliev. There was a picture doing the rounds yesterday of Guillbert with a fat cheek, something about his teeth so I assume he's out. I'd like to see: Reina Konsa Mings Hause Elmo Luiz Nakemba Targett Elghazi Vassiliev Grealish
  8. I think this is a smart signing. He isn't a replacement for Wes, he a different kind of striker who could take any position in a front 3. I think DS said Davis is back in training so hopefully he isn't too far away either. Do we really need another striker? I think I'd prefer an out and out winger with pace.
  9. Best of luck to him. I think the injury took a lot out of him after a fantastic first season.
  10. When do we need to have the formalities of this signing done to allow him to play against Watford?
  11. I only caught the second half bit I thought we played well. Much the better team. We looked better with Douglas in midfield and a striker would make such a difference. Watford is a real 6 pointer now.
  12. So this is another game without a recognised striker. I think we will stick with 3/5 at the back but we need more from the full backs so I expect Guilbert and Targett will start. I think I would go with this: Reina Konsa Mings Hause Guilbert Drinkwater Targett Luiz Hourihane Trez ElGhazi Grealish
  13. I've looked at a few videos of him and what's clear is that he is two footed. That is such an asset to have as a striker defenders don't know how to deal with you. The price seems quite reasonable so let's hope he can hit the ground running.
  14. I've said this many time but I'll say it again. The way the upfront 3 works in the system DS was playing previously (4-3-3) the front 3 were interchangeable. I think DS and the recruitment team would have looked at the 6-7 players they had to fill those three spots (Wes, Kod, Davis, Jota, ElGhazi, Trez, Jack) and thought they had enough. No doubt DS would have preferred more cover because, as you say, none of those players have played in this league before. For me I think this is a real shame for Davis, he could be getting an extended run in the team right now if he was fit. I do fear injuries might mean we never see the best of him.
  15. For me it's the weight of pass that makes that goal. Means the attacker doesn't have to touch it to shoot and the defender can't get a tackle in. Seems we might have another gem in O'Hare!
  16. I'm on the fence about Benteke. On the one hand I'd love to see him come back and score goals that keep us in the league. But you have to understand we won't be signing the Benteke we sold. He's just not the player he used to be. But that doesn't mean he can't make a difference. The talk now is a loan to the end of the season, I think I would take that if there is an option to buy in the summer but it's not mandatory.
  17. Happy with this. Smart signing in a position we are seriously short of quality.
  18. If you want some perspective listen to Souness on Sky. Thank f**k for him. He's the only one who talks sense on Sky.
  19. The only positive I can take is we don't have to play City every week. The main issue today was the work rate of City. They never gave us a second on the ball and we made so many mistakes. 5 at the back only works if you can get the wing backs up the pitch Elmo and Taylor never got forward and without them we have no width. We are missing McGinn so much. We badly need his energy in midfield.
  20. People will point to us spending 150m in the summer. This City team a 1.5 billion team. And they showed that today.
  21. Bring him on for ElGhazi. We can't afford him to get a second yellow.
  22. This could end any score. We now have 5 defenders in our own box and we still can't stop the shot. Drinkwater and Costa offering nothing in either direction.
  23. One thing that's clear from today. We badly need Pepe Reina. First and third are goals any decent keeper should save.
  24. Drinkwater needs to be taken off at HT. He's miles off the pace. A bad team will makes us pay for a passenger in midfield. City are destroying us.
