  1. Nyland again running away from the ball. How is he our starting keeper?
  2. Jota offers something different. I think DS will bring on both ElGhazi and Trez.
  3. Not much in it so far but we've looked good. Good closing down. I fear their bench will be the difference.
  4. Looks like a diamond in midfield to me. Marv Luiz. Hourihane Grealish
  5. I agree with you. I'd be looking at pushing Luiz forward and dropping Marv into the DM position. Play Conor beside him and push Jack further up the field. A midfield diamond with two out and out strikers in Davis and Samatta. Move the ball quickly and get 2/3 of the midfielders up in support.
  6. Thought it was an all round frustrating game. We needed the Trez or Samatta chances to hit the net and I think we would have gone one to win the game. We have a real lack of quality at the top end of the pitch and it going to cost us.
  7. Nyland is probably the most uninspiring goalkeeper I've ever seen. Other than that I think we look ok.
  8. And Maximin is on that side. Luiz and ElGhazi are going to have to work hard to help him out. Rose gets forward too.
  9. Same 4-3-3 again. Only difference is Grealish in midfield. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think that front 3 are good enough to keep us in this league!
  10. Bruce will send out at least one player to just sit on Grealish. He will rack up a huge amount of free kicks in this game so Conor is needed for delivery. I agree with Rob that DS has the edge over SB over the last few years so let's hope that remains on tomorrow. I think anything less than 3 points here and we are in trouble.
  11. The next three after this are really tough so if we are to have any chance to stay up we need a win here. I still think a diamond is the best formation we have right now as we have no real threat from the wings: Reina Elmo Konsa Mings Targett Luiz Hourihane McGinn Grealish Samatta Davis
  12. I agree with what others have said. We need to look at this as a new season. A second chance for the players and management to get things right. To beat a team like Sheffield were are going to have to out work them and I think if we do that we can win this. I think I'd take a draw right now. I'd really like to see us go with a diamond. Reina Elmo Engels Mings Targett Marv McGinn Hourihane Grealish Samatta Davis It would mean McGinn and Hourihane would have to work their socks off to help out the full backs against United's wingbacks but going forward it would give us some options and we know Elmo and Targett can deliver crosses for the two up front. I think we need to press their centre back in possession and try win it back in their half. Davis gets the nod from me for his physicality and I think Samatta has a goal in him.
  13. The 5 sub rule is going to bring a whole new dynamic to the games. I think managers will be more likely to make subs earlier if things aren't working. Better managers who see problems will have the ability to change things quicker and more fundamentally. 6pm next Wednesday cannot come soon enough.
  14. Fixtures just released. Starting with Sheffield at home on Wednesday 17th followed by Chelsea home on the following Sunday. Two tough games but we need to hit the ground running. Imagine the lift a win and getting out of the relegation zone will bring before anyone else kicks a ball!
  15. I'm afraid when it comes to items like this these is no good "time". The whole point of a rally or protest is that it goes against what is expected so perhaps right now is the perfect time to go out and protest. But I do hope everyone is safe and are following the good practices, 2m apart, handwashing, etc.
  16. Bit harsh to for them to forget Steer! The keeper who got us to this league in the first place!
  17. I know we won't hear during the lock-down but are Heaton and Wesley back to full training yet? I was going to say full fitness but I don't think any player will come back fully fit. For me if those two are back our strongest 11 is: Heaton Guillbert Konsa Mings Hause Targett Grealish Nakemba McGinn Wesley Samatta
  18. Just an addition to this thread if I may. What is your favorite country that you have visited? For me it's Costa Rica, it's a naturally beautiful country but also the people and food there were amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat but I haven't left my house in 4 weeks.
  19. Interesting topic! I've lived in Ireland, England, Scotland, Greece, Qatar, Bahrain, USA and UAE. Then I've visited Northern Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Norwary, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Monaco, Italy, Vatican, Czechia, Hungary, Croatia, Netherlands, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan, Canada, Panama and Costa Rica. I think that's 40! I've yet to get to Africa or South America so plenty of travelling left to do.
  20. I never thought of Melberg at RB. I know he played there a lot but he was always a CB in my mind.
  21. I'm going to do this in my own era, I wasn't born when we won the European cup so can't really talk about those players! Friedal (USA) Delaney (WAL) McGrath (ROI) Laursen (DEN) Bouma (NET) Grealish (ENG) Petrov (BUL) McGinn (SCO) Yorke(T&T) Benteke (BEL) Angel (COL) Might have gone a little attack minded!! Hard not to have Milner or Barry in there, Young too. I think the best left back I can remember was Steve Staunton but you can't leave God out! I Alan Wright was a top right back but I can't leave Jack out!
  22. The Government of Britain's response to the virus has been nothing short of criminal. Essentially saying "let it play out and we will deal with it when's it's at it's peak!". If this is allowed to continue you are looking at somewhere in the region of 1 million deaths.
