I think we’re lucky to have 2 older senior pros and one up and coming star to keep them on their toes! It only takes one injury and Archer is pushing for a starting spot. I’m happy to see Cam stay rather than buying in another striker. There’s no doubt over the course of the season he’ll get his chances!

I think I’d go with this to start: Martinez Cash Carlos Mings Digne Kamara Luiz McGinn Bailey Watkins Couthino That leaves Buendia, Ings, JJ, Archer to come on if we need to change things in attack. And Chambers, Konsa, Young, Hayden, Tim etc. to come on if we need to shore things up or see out the game. Plus Sanson who’s had a very decent preseason. Man it is nice to have a panel for once.

Wow! I came here for some light relief and it seems Stevie G has named Danny Drinkwater as our new captain! As much as many don’t like it, McGinn is an absolute nailed on starter in our team right now. I hope the signing of Kamara will give him a bit more freedom to get forward where I think he’s more effective. I’m disappointed that Mings has lost the armband but SJM gets my full backing. Top pro and top lad!

It was very much a preseason game. Not much bite to it but I thought Roar defended well. First half I thought Bailey looked busy without being great. Cash is just a live wire. I think in the prem Digne would have seen red for that tackle. Lucky boy! Second half I thought KKH, Tim and Archer were good. Glad Archer scored the goal after missing a good chance. I think he should have played in Ollie but that’s my opinion. Anyway decent run out and another win and another clean sheet.

I’d worry about Couts legs as an 8 in the league. But interesting to see how he gets on today!

I think SG is dealing with this correctly. He has a year to run in his current contract is is stalling on signing a new one. If he wants to go he should go. But you can’t have players around the first team who aren’t committed to being there. He will be upset to miss the preseason. Especially if he doesn’t get a move this summer. He’s clearly a good player with big potential and I do hope he signs the contract. But if he goes best of luck to him.

Elmo is in the pictures with the players in Australia at the moment. Has he taken up a coaching role with the club?

I’m sure this has been mentioned but I’ve just looked at the SG interview from yesterday and he’s made it quite clear he’s looking to get another midfielder in. You imagine if he does Sanson, Luiz or Marv might be out the door depending on if it’s an 8 or a 6 type!

You are right. But who replaces him is hugely important. They can’t afford another decisive BJ type.

I had him down as taller. He looks the same height as Dougie in those pictures!

This man pretty much kept us up with huge goals at the tail end of the 20/21 season. And who could forget the last min winner to send us to the cup final. He had his limitations but always have 100% and for that he deserves our respect!

Southgate is a bang average manager (and I think that’s kind to him). The reality is I don’t think a single premier league team would have him as manager. He a mid table championship manager IMO. He has a fantastic group of players but insists on being as negative as possible. The dive from Kane was also pretty terrible, but he has form on this. He bought a pen against Germany and was hoping for the same last night!

I’m always a bit wary of a lad who scored that amount of goals at such a young age. Makes me think he’s just more developed and can bully younger/ smaller players. But what more can he do when playing at his own age bracket. Looks a good signing and Stevie G will have seen him up close when at Rangers so should know the type he is.

Everything about Conor is class. He’s a great guy with a great attitude that got us promoted and kept us in the league. Still think I’d have him corners given the choice! Good luck and COYBIG!
