  1. Using a band like that provides extra resistance as you approach the top of the ROM so the movement is of roughly the same difficulty throughout. Nothing wrong with doing it without the band with a heavier KB but the band creates a lot of tension within the movement and forces your non-primary movers to really work hard to stabilise you or you shake like a sh***ing dog
  2. With Carney, and Burchall, and then there's Louie Barry They're the boys who’re gonna do us fine
  3. Purslow to Vinai Vana-whats-his-name
  4. Even if NSWE were interested in selling any of the first team, which they're not, Martinez is worth £80m+. Right at the start of his peak, best form of anyone, 3 years left on his contract. Any club that would be shopping to take a PL club's no 1 keeper can expect to pay £30m even for a crap one.
  5. Be nice! His nan knitted that for him
  6. To be fair though it is a discussion forum so "attack" is an over exaggeration for someone disagreeing with your post. Was it threatening or an ad hominem attack? Not really. I see this a lot on here and also online in general. Someone disagreeing with you is not the same as you not being allowed to have an opinion.
  7. I think the sweeping up and playing it short is more tactics from the coaching staff rather than keeper ability with the ball. Plenty of keepers sweep up, including ones who are rubbish with their feet like Pope. Oblak doesn't and he's the best. I'm sure if he or Martinez played under a coach who wanted their keeper to sweep high up or play the ball only short they'd both be fine at it.
  8. Is Alisson really that good with his feet though? Ederson is **** unbelievable, granted. Best keeper with the ball at their feet I can remember. Better than peak Neuer and can also kick it the length of the pitch with both feet somehow. But Alisson is barely above average with the ball imo. He looks absolutely dreadful when pressured as well. Remember when City pressed him this season and he gave it away like 5 times? I think two of them ended up in his net. Martinez is at least as good, if not better than Alisson with his feet I'd say.
  9. Think it might be just because he got it from Tesco's Essentials range
  10. In my honest opinion, he has been far and away better than both of those two in terms of saves, organisation of his defence and confidence he gives to his defence over that time period. Also Alisson especially had quite a few fumbles with his feet that cost goals. Can't remember any from Martinez. Catching (both shots and crosses) he's miles above anyone else I've ever seen. It's almost cartoonish. The stats support him as well I think. For instance, he constantly overperforms post shot expected goals against (most important individual stat for analysing for value of a goalkeeper to a team imo) by an alarming amount. Largest overperformance by this metric in the top 5 European leagues since the start of that run in the Arsenal team (+11.0psxGA in 46.6 games). Oblak is a stats beast as well, difference being that he has been for the best part of a decade.
  11. As far as I can see for this past year and a bit since he got his chance at arsenal until now he is the second best goalkeeper in the world behind Oblak.
  12. Think he was just timewasting the sneaky devil. He winked at Pezzella in the middle of it
  13. Joint song with Buendia to "No Limit" like the Toure brothers song. Emi, Emi Emi, Emi Emi, Emi Martinez Emi, Emi Emi, Emi Emi, Emi Buendia
  14. Not sure why City would give us Zinchenko as part of the new bumper deal we give Jack but I admire the optimism.
  15. When you use the phrase "took us to the cleaners" you are inviting the comparison with transfers where clubs actually got taken to the cleaners like Haller and Joelinton. Only in your imagination
  16. The alleged interview from a few weeks ago about how he wasn't sure how he'd be received when he came back made me fear that the 5.5m fee wasn't mandatory so I was looking out for news today. No mention of the permanent transfer from either club that I can see but he does just sneak into the background of the Fenerbahce insta story of their preseason training so it seems like he's theirs for keeps.
  17. To me it looks like Abraham is a perfect fit for Brighton. They create loads of chances that their crappy strikers can't finish, his entire game revolves around finishing chances that other people create and he's very good at it. It is for that reason that I hope he doesn't sign for them and signs for someone who create **** all instead. Like Palace.
  18. Off topic but was he? From my memory he was the best player on the pitch like usual. He forced Odoi into the sending off and he got Fredericks to commit a red card offence that was inexplicably missed. Nearly scored as well.
  19. How many minutes do you envisage Abraham playing for us next season if he were to sign? Watkins played every minute he was available for, would've been every minute if it wasn't for that United ref decision.
  20. And Farke and Bielsa have both spent time out of the PL more recently. Quickly become one of the experienced old heads ol' Deano
  21. Conceded the first shot on target that he faced Martinez was only rested because he had a yellow and this was the last group game I think
  22. Not to mention his high xG is actually an argument against signing him due to the fact he underperformed it by 5 goals. Only Werner was worse in the whole league
  23. True but last summer we smashed our record goalkeeper transfer fee by miles for a 28 year old who'd been backup for a decade and played well for 20 games for arsenal the previous season. If our recruitment team think it's good value then I'd be happy to give them the benefit of the doubt. They've earned it.
  24. I think most of the ire is from when he called Everton a "small club" after a game against them (about 15 years ago). Love for the city or not, it's difficult to spin that one.
