  1. I think that’s more opinion than fact… Dan knows a little but doesn’t have anywhere near as much insight as many may assume… Unai’s already commented on it in the preseason pressers, in US. We are active, players to be moved out and we’re monitoring things and ready to act on opportunities - more likely toward the end of August. We probably would be fairly satisfied or confident to go into the season as we are, but if there are good opportunities to further strengthen and add extra quality… we will act…
  2. Sorry, don’t quite understand what point/comment you’re specifically pointing to…? It’s hard to find “guarantees”… you’ve just got to try and set yourself up in the best possible way, be as “prepared” and have researched as much as possible in this context… No one can guarantee we won’t make another bad/failed signing but we should, hopefully, increase the probability or percentage of likelihood that we make successful and top quality signings… Purslow wasn’t solely or massively responsible for many signings, Suso and Lange have been given plenty of criticism too From what I’ve read in the past, Purslow did make some gaffes… such as going for Drinkwater when Suso wanted N’Zonzi… played a big part in the Barkley (initially looked a masterstroke but turned sour quickly and failed miserably really)… and, of course, was responsible for the clown we had in charge before the master we now have… but he also did a lot right… No one’s flawless (except maybe Unai ) but you’ve got to be diligent and work hard to make good decisions… not lean on your own ego or status but put the necessary graft and research in… Dunno if any of that made sense Sorry
  3. Queue another “great comment by me” when he becomes Burnley’s POTS
  4. People have conflicting views on the potential/rumoured Aaron Ramsey move… but maybe it’s seen as more of a “glorified loan” and gives us greater capacity to strengthen the team and bring in one, maybe two, players to properly impact and elevate that first eleven…? He can develop there, gets to play in the PL (which I don’t think he would get to for us this season, not for a significant amount of time/games at this point) and if he looks the part… we can bring him back in the not too distant future… we could also negotiate a lesser buyback fee or clause if they get relegated too… a win-win situation for us? I think there is a lot of ambition at the club, particularly from Unai, and we want to achieve as much as possible/feasible, asap… and therefore need to inject that first team with genuine quality that will elevate us even further… I don’t think any of our youngsters are ready to quite do that… yet. Another top class player coming into our side will help us even more… make us more dangerous and effective..
  5. Seems to suggest and add credence to the idea/fact that there will be more outgoing and incoming players… more business to do… As some of us had assumed and stated… Unai and Monchi have greater capacity, better resources, to act in the market than at previous clubs…
  6. I actually think his biggest problem is nerves… If he can become more calm and composed, he could cut the errors out… Dunno if he already has one, but maybe he could do with a psychologist to help him out - much the same way as big Emi does… I don’t think he’d “cost us” against weak opposition, such as inferior teams in ECL group games, but I’m always worried when he has to play against a strong/decent team and would be even more worried if he had to play in a knockout game… It feels like we have to “make up” for him by putting in an amazing team performance and not allowing the opposition to threaten us - easier said than done and not all that common… I don’t want to nor enjoy being harsh on him, but he does have his gaffes and does bring and cause anxiety to the defence, even the team. You can sense that the players don’t have huge faith in him when he’s out there either, almost like they’re anticipating a mistake… If he can overcome the nerves… we could see a much better player…
  7. That Atletico game… what an atmosphere! And what a goal by Stan!
  8. That’s put me off even more… Can’t imagine he’s a target at all then… But…if… you know what I’m gonna say Unai knows all…
  9. As well as that, I’m discouraged by what I’ve read from some US posters here… he may have aggression/tenacity (good presser) but, according to a few of them, he is poor at passing (so wouldn’t really be an “Unai player”) and not the most technically gifted of players… Seem to be mixed views of him though, some fans think he’d be a great signing. If he were brought in as a DM… I dunno how much of an improvement on Dendoncker he would be… I’d prefer a better version of Leander - someone who is both physically and aerially dominant but excellent on the ball and passes it well, some agility too.. We may still lack a bit of strength and “presence” in the side other than at CB…
  10. Tyler Adams talk again… is he really worth the £25m release clause? Is he good technically and passes the ball well?
  11. Sure… but are we ignoring Saudi involvement with Chelsea/Boehly and, of course, Newcastle? No “convenient” deals? Ah well… I’m not exactly invested but there is surely cause for suspicion… Corruption is rife in football anyway… Didn’t think I’d need to explain and be accused of an agenda… Saudi human rights, wealth etc. nor have people defending it… Well… no point discussing it here anyway… No stopping any of it anyway…
  12. So…. they didn’t sell anyone at all to the Saudis and nothing dodgy or suspect at all is going on? O…..K….
  13. If there’s a taker, I’d rather we moved him on and brought in a younger & more effective option - the player Phil SHOULD have been for us… would really help us out…

    Jhon Durán

He’s been injured… as well as Tim. I’m assuming he’s back with them now, saw him in training vids beforehand but he obv didn’t fly out to US…
  15. not really, I just want to see what he can do in our preferred or stronger team… then we can see if he actually can cover for Ollie… Even when it’s “put on a plate” players do and have messed up those chances… I’d like to see if he can be reliable for us… I can’t make too definitive a judgment or endorse him until I see that really… Luckily I and we don’t have to, Unai knows all…
  16. Cast your fears aside, this is the Unai age!!
  17. Agreed, but he hasn’t been given the opportunity in that role or played alongside Watkins yet has he?
