  1. Are Everton trying to become the new Leeds?
  2. Something doesn’t look right… his body language and expression are quite concerning… Both against Valencia and now Newcastle… he looks defeated and shattered… what is going on? I want him to come good but it’s getting harder n harder to be patient with him or believe in him… he was very poor yesterday and those passing stats are very concerning… maybe he’s just not suited to an Unai team either… I’d like to see him play with a smile on his face, looking determined, aggressive… he seems to have lost belief…
  3. Thank you… he’s chatting shit again… dunno why he’s even here… We destroyed “big teams” with these midfielders last season….
  4. Consistently absurd opinions… can’t actually support Villa in any sense… tempted to stick on ignore
  5. Let’s not go down this road again… Are you actually a Villa fan at all? Sure doesn’t ever seem like it… After your criticism of Luiz…. It’s hard to take much of what you say all that seriously. A midfielders are great.. one bad performance or result doesn’t change that… Leagues ahead of whatever Everton have to offer…
  6. Sangare still available? Would Guendouzi still be a useful option? I’m conflicted… we do have a great midfield but… are they getting enough help? The same players can’t be expected to perform at peak levels in every game either… Kamara is still young and developing too… might pack on some muscle as he ages… Easy to make too much of yesterday’s performance and result… Definitely need fullback and attacking reinforcements imo…
  7. Yeah, we have made up for it with tenacity and aggression (which is what McGinn usually brings but was sorely lacking against Newcastle) and have players who are usually supremely composed and comfortable on the ball with proper passing prowess… we like to pass our way out of trouble as well as excel in build up play… which I love… But, I still think an injection of strength - physically dominant player who is still excellent in possession, would help us massively… and prevent us from wilting…
  8. Stop messing Pau about and stick him firmly in that LCB position I say… Diego and Konsa to compete for the spot next to him. Cash is too comfortable and unchallenged, Digne is a big downgrade on Moreno and cannot offer what he does - I’d rather address the fullbacks than the CBs. Just my opinion of course… Pubill has moved to Almeria, Fresneda’s name is still being associated with us…
  9. It is… especially now with Mings out. Diego could make up for it… hopefully he keeps progressing from here and becomes really important for us… A Pau and Diego partnership does excite me… I have to admit… kind of a consolation if we can get the to adapt and gel fairly quickly… Still feels like we need someone to exert dominance in midfield… show fight when the going gets tough. McGinn does his best…
  10. Good way of looking at it… analysing what happened last season and the shitshow of SG, then the salvation/rescue job from Unai (qualifying for ECL FFS!) involving elevation of players, style, system, psychology, tactics etc…. should give us great hope… We can recover from setbacks… we’ve seen Unai do it before… and we can still bring in players of his choosing to help us…
  11. I like the look of it… but can we afford to drop McGinn? Other than defence, the side looks lightweight and vulnerable…. Easy to get at and through… we need fight, physicality and aggression to go along with technique, skill and panache…
  12. Don’t think we need or should spend on another CB… I’d like to see us put faith in the Pau and Carlos partnership - 2 elite CBs on their day, both Europa League winners and have played in the Champions League. At their very best… they are or have been better players than Mings and Konsa… that may seem controversial, but in terms of ability and “peak form” they have been and have competed at the highest levels unlike those two (who have still been excellent, in no way a criticism)… Allow Pau to play in his favoured and strongest position too, I think he’s being highly underestimated and underrated, just focus on that. Diego should bring us the physicality, presence and leadership we miss with Ty out… Having invested significant finances in them, we need to give them the chance to show their worth and demonstrate their abilities… rather than place too many doubts, there may have to be an adjustment period but I think we have to stick with it… we’re almost forced to now… Aided by Konsa (competition) and Chambers who are versatile. Maybe even Dendoncker would be better suited adapting to a CB, due to his specific limitations and attributes, to help out… that’s if he sticks around… strength and ability in the air… We could really do with genuine RB competition for Cash, or an upgrade. He is far too comfortable and assured of his place in the side… Midfield…. Could we do with a major physical presence and leader? Someone to push Kamara and not guarantee him regular starts? Not sure… we do lack physicality (even moreso now ) in this side… it’s been a consistent theme/problem for us ( @TRO and me have been banging this drum for a long while)… It’s our attack and build up that needs help and work… especially with the players missing… Not shitting on Digne but he is definitely a downgrade on Moreno and holds us back significantly… We need creators and killer finishers… Fullbacks and attackers methinks…
  13. Thank you, we must be careful not to overreact so quickly and so soon… Unai’s not just going to give up, he’s going to face every challenge before him. We need to support the team more than ever and push them on! The season has barely just begun, loooooong road ahead and there is simply no reason to be extra downbeat or extra negative… This is a test of our strength and mettle… let’s support the club in overcoming it… What does Rocky say? “But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”
  14. I’m still really upset about this… seeing Ty in particular like that… in so much agony… kind of shaken me… he’s been such a massive part of our club and such a figurehead… PROPER Villa player… hurts that much more seeing him suffer like that…
  15. Excited by this Rollheiser link… Seems a real talent and Sort it out big Emi
  16. Nothing out of the ordinary… many players pull that stuff to get moves. Nakamba went on strike to join us!! I think Benteke did too… Not really interested in him anyway, we need a LOT better to enhance our side. We need impactful quality, not potential…
  17. Just… horrible… We have to stand and fight, overcome this hurt and disappointment and show our passion…. No one would ever have wanted any like this, but the players have to “use it” as some kind of extra motivation for this season…
  18. We have got to strengthen… It really will be disastrous if we suffer any further injuries… But I’ve also been wondering just how much(?) stronger that first team is out there than it was last season? No doubt we have a better squad and some key, injured players to return… But how much have we “elevated” that first 11?? Emi and Ty injuries have hit us so hard… we have to try and use that as motivation and fight for them out on that pitch… Long season ahead, one poor performance and one poor/embarrassing result certainly does not define it. Surely onwards n upwards from here. Unai will get it right.
  19. I actually didn’t criticise Leon for his defending or specific mistakes in that sense… he didn’t affect the game positively in any sense really… giving possession away cheaply and contributing next to nothing… But the whole team was poor… McGinn was almost absent… and he’s usually the one to drive us on… Always wanted Leon to do well but I have to admit that I am running out of patience… he was poor vs Valencia too and didn’t look right… What’s been most concerning is his body language… he looks exhausted and not “mentally right” if that makes sense, almost defeated… But… it doesn’t feel right to single out individuals at/for this game… everyone was so off it, and I was just asking the question - why? Players must have been affected by Emi’s injury beforehand but I wouldn’t have thought that would have affected today’s performance… I’ve no doubt that they were shaken by Ty’s injury… just watching footage of it made me distressed and upset… imagine watching it all unfold… I’m not looking for any excuses… just genuinely wondering why we played so poorly… what were the reasons or causes?
  20. Should sing both their names at atleast all home games…
  21. WTH… how unlucky can we be? First Emi and now Ty…. It is distressing… but seeing Ty like this is heart wrenching… painful… We need to fight for them and have a successful season for/dedicated to them… Both of these incidents must have affected the players badly… even Unai looked visibly “shaken” or affected post match… The mental/psychological side of the game is often overlooked… Wish them both full and successful recoveries…
  22. Don’t even care about the result or the game… This is just so incredibly upsetting… Ty is a club legend, what a journey we’ve been on with him… We finally reach Europe, he played a massive part in taking us there… Did Unai say the injury looked worse than Emi’s??
