  1. I'm completely exhausted, that second half was perhaps the most nervous I've been during a football game, still shivering! Justice has prevailed, football won!
  2. and after the last game Hourihane deffo deserves it
  3. A bit worried about Hourihane as holding mid, if not McGinn drops down there? Anyway in Dean Smith I trust! UTV!
  4. Yeah, but what if [insert random irrelevant comparisions with other situations here].
  5. We need a good holding midfielder to allow Grealish and McGinn to play further forward, it has been a perfect balance with Whelan in that holding role. We need his positioning, footballing intelligence, calmness and routine there. He never goes hiding either. There was a reason he was played week in and week out at Stoke despite them forking out millions and millions on other midfielders. He did one mistake last game, everyone does now and then, doesn't take away his performances of late. I don't know about the form of Jedi, but as WBA must attack and have a lot of strong players in the air I would consider playing Jedi if Whelan needs a rest. Jedi is a big game player, a leader with experience who ca be relied on. Or perhaps he can come in and hopefully close the game towards the end. If we are in a similar position as last game and need to gamble on scoring Hourihane is the obvious choice. As WBA most likely will attack I would be hesitant and a bit worrying with staring him as the holding midfielder though. The five goals conceded against Forest still springs to mind.
  6. If we would go up, how about taking huge loans from chinese banks, buy this seasons top scorers and then gamble on reaching the Champions League in two seasons or go in to administration?
  7. I'm not convinced we should sign him permanently as a CB. He has improved a lot since his debut and had a couple of good games playing next to Mings. But he is still too error prone, he has a mistake in him and doesn't ooze that calmness and reliability that is needed from a CB. At times his technique looks good but at times he seems to be fumbling with the ball, like the back pass to Steer that went out to a corner. Their second goal was also a big mistake from his side, sure he wanted to track Pukki, but when their player is free in front of our goal with a clear shot on goal - for sure as a CB your instinct must be to throw your body in front of the player, not stepping back and tracking someone else? He may improve of course, but that decision making of his and the errors doesn't bode well for me playing as a CB. Perhaps he can play LB, think he has had his best games in that position and his mistakes won't be as costly there. So sceptical about him as CB but at a good price I'd take him as LB.
  8. As I posted in the match thread, one of the brightest points with today's game was that we now have a settled system and playing style that new players slot into. Of course Grealish and McGinn etc make a difference, but we still played well today, playing the same attacking controlled football as before, only with other players. Well done Dean Smith, may it long continue!
  9. I was very happy with the line up, exactly like I had wanted it. Rested the key players but didn't disrupt the system to much. I think we played well and deserved at least a draw. It's so good to see that we now have a functioning system, a style of play that new players slot into. I dont like loosing of course, but this feels like an ok soft landing after our increadible winning streak. It had to end sometime and better that is now. Now we can regroup with rested players, take encouragement from the performance and go into the play offs.
  10. I think Leeds has been the best team we have played this season, I fancy them going up directly.
  11. I think he is of the coptic minority in Egypt, and they are usually christian. One can of course be arab and christian as well, and as for nationality Egyptian too. Being coptic I doubt he would define himself as an arab though, but what do I know. Whatever he is or calls himself, I love him. He seems down to earth and humble, seem to have managed his familys wealth in a good way and been successful himself. From the outside he has seemed to have done everything right so far, more than I could ever have hoped of from a new owner. I would do anything I could (which isn't much though) to prevent him being replaced by a generic middle eastern consortium, especially if it has state connections. PSG owners p*** o** with your dirty corrupt blood money and stay away.
  12. El Ghazi! What a game! He took out the Ronaldo in him, created a chance everytime he had the ball and looked like scoring all the time! I was afraid we would suffer from fatigue, but we played with energy and were full of running. Very very pleasing to see that we can play good football even without Jack.
  13. What a class act he is!! His come back came in the precise right time. Like he was never out, or even that he came back even better, even more assured and calm. Did he do everything right today? Can't remember a fault or a bad pass and saved us several times.
  14. May be a blessing in disguise, I thought he looked a bit off it on Saturday and again today, think he may benefit of a rest, he would clearly not be dropped. Didn't deserved either of the cards so I hope the suspension is cut short if that is possible when the red is the outcome of two yeallow, perhaps we can't appeal that?
  15. god I hope he didn't completely exhaust himself for this game, we need you for the rest of the season, we need to give him a rest soon, question is when? Super display once again.
  16. Good stuff Dean! Very good choice to rest a few, rotating Whelan for Hourihane and Adomah for Green, rotating a bit, but not disturbing the rymth of the team. Made very shrewd tactical changes and substitutions to the second half. Rallied his troops through the game. UTV and in Dean we trust!
  17. After I read OBE:s post on page 228 I don't hold any grudges against him. I try to follow the principle of supporting all players who try their best and have a good attitude. The injuries isn't his fault. And him being a bad defender and overrated footballer isn't his fault either. We can't expect players to cancel their contracts by themselves. There should be insurances in these kind of situations, but I guess there isn't and in the end it's just the way it is. Buying players and giving them high wages is a gamble. Micah was a massive gamble and the ones who made the deal are to blame.
  18. Dean Smith is actually Dave Smith by birth.
  19. Posted it in the match thread, but what an absolute disgrace their supporters are, continuing to boo Grealish after that incident, it's that kind of behaviour that incourages idiots to do such things. But what a show of mental strength to handle the situation the way he did, continue to captain the team and to go on and score the winner. 23 years old and in my eyes already a legend.
