  1. Could people please stop mentioning Pardew, I'm depressed enough as it is.
  2. They are the shower who printed a swastika onto their pitch before a Croatia match, scum.
  3. I'd be expecting things to go south very quickly after Norwich get their first. Cardiff could have got 6 last week, Norwich are a better team. Bruce may well throw a couple of youngsters into the team but he will likely use them as an excuse in the post match interview.
  4. Pardew is very similar to Bruce, can do inexplicably well at times but then reality kicks in and the long winless steaks start. He also tends to benefit from previous managers organisation like at Newcastle but over time defending becomes shambolic. Anyone seeking Pardew is looking for misery.
  5. It would be the best thing that could happen the club.
  6. He will be far better for them than he was here. He had potential in his Gronigen days but has regressed here like so many others in the same period.
  7. From the lower leagues I wouldn't mind Danny Cowley from Lincoln.
  8. As there is not too many obvious free agents available the next manager is probably going to either be someone terrible like Pardew or someone from leftfield. If left field I'd like it to be someone like Jacob Michelsen, 36 year old with a similar profile to AVB/Neil Clement(never played just coached from a young age. He finished 2nd in the Danish league the season before last with absolute minnows SonderjyskE before leaving to go to Hammarby where he is disappointing this season to be fair. He does do tactics though. Glen Riddersholm is another, won the league with Midtjylland(same owner as Brentford, brilliantly run clubs, Tony should learn from them) a couple of years ago and was one of the best managerial prospects in Europe at the time before maving to AGF and doing an average job, would be worth the risk still. Michael O'Neill is someone I rate highly too and am amazed hasen't been snapped up by a championship club yet, would be worth interviewing.
  9. I seen a good bit of the England game today, he looks the part. Keep him going in the gym and when on the training pitch get him to learn as much as he can from John Terry. It may still take a couple of years before he is physically ready but he is someone who needs to be given every chance.
  10. I wouldn't be totally unhappy with JT taking over from Steve Bruce when things go bad, he doesn't seem completely thick, has the ego for management and would have picked up a lot from working under some of the best managers in the world. Not a novice either given his Chelsea stints.
  11. Jay Rodriguez gone to WBA for £12m, a fair price for a decent if injury prone player. Will add a bit of quality on the ball.
  12. Under Armour are doing well enough though. Macron have upped their game a bit too this season, their Scottish clients have some nice kits. I look forward to seeing if Wyvombe stay with O'Neills this season too.
  13. It will matter when Bruce is gone and the next manager will want us to play higher up the pitch.
  14. Mendes has far better players to flog than Willie McKay though, they also have a potentially top class manager and if they build up a bit of momentum will have a good chance of promotion. It is a somewhat corrupt and unothodox setup but that doesn't mean it won't succeed.
  15. Tough job ahead of him but he is a good appointment for them, has been solidly above average in every job so far. On the subject of his hair I respect the fact that he is not vain enough to get a hair transplant.
  16. Nonsense, McGrath had more pace after his legs had gone than Terry had at his peak. That is the reason he could still do a job at 36 going on 37. Terry with his legs gone is a disaster on a slightly smaller scale than Lescott.
  17. 11 years of 1st team football behind him though and he has started to get injury prone, he never fulfilled his potenetial.
  18. He is 36 going on 37, his legs have gone and he will cost a fortune in wages. Perfect Villa signing.
  19. Harry Maguire going to Leicester for £17m. A right footed Nathan Baker.
  20. Sometimes there are simple transfers to make with little or no risk. Daryl Horgan is a perfect example, he was available on a free in January, wages he went for in the end were £8,000pw, he was after doing very well in the Europa league but Preston were the ones to take the risk. He is still no world beater but is a good championship winger and they will get a few million for him soon enough. Andy Boyle also signed from Dundalk and looked comfortable in the few games he played towards the end of the season. Sean Maguire (22) from Cork City will be a massive success for them too, he has scored pretty much a goal a game for Cork City and has all the attributes to make it at a higher level. I'd be confident that he will outscore Hogan and McCormack combined and he is going for €150,000. I know this is LOI (probably upper league 2 standard but the bargains are there to be had in comparison to the English lower leagues who command more for players).
  21. You can if you don't spend a lot of money on transfer fees and wages.
  22. That is insane, hugely over rated, Ellis Short will be happy.
  23. No Villa players in either successful England u20 teams (WC and Toulon), the likes of Everton very well represented so it is not all Chelsea/Man City money needed to have a good youth set up.
