  1. They lost their manager and several key first team players over winter. They were letting goals in under Schumacher because were very attacking and were doing well winning some high scoring games. Under Foster they've gone more defensive and stopped scoring as much, but have continued shipping goals. Rumours growing he's heading for the sack.
  2. I dont get why music chat never seems to be able to stay in the music thread.
  3. Private profits, public losses.
  4. 4th highest paid manager in the world.
  5. I lived there for 11 months, nearly 20 years ago. My Swedish was bad then and basically non-existent now (apart from words which sound like rude words in English: bra, slut etc). I have no idea what this means and Google translate is saying "rag donut with bottle". Which I suspect is wrong, but having met Swedish people, part of me thinks it might not be.
  6. Argyle have awful form under the new manager and are dropping like a stone. I wouldnt count on them to win much going forwards.
  7. So basic but so good. One of the things I miss most about living in Sweden. Really good pea and ham soup would be another. If I'm drunk I might crave one of the weird sausage and mash potato kebabs.
  8. One for the Swedish contingent on here. A homemade Beef Rydberg/pyttipanna mix.
  9. I did consider the American bit as their work practices and culture are awful, but @lapal_fan hadn't confirmed she was in America, just that she was Texan.
  10. Probably in shock. Maybe sh just wanted to talk to help process it and sometimes that's easier with someone you don't know well. I dont understand why she was even in work and wasn't given compassionate leave.
  11. I'm not an accountant or financial advisor so couldn't say for certain. Just recommending you speak to one beforehand to make sure it's done right. Spend a little to save a lot kinda thing.
  12. There was zero balance to the midfield playing Gerrard, Beckham and Lampard together (even worse when Scholes was added in). They all wanted to be in the same areas of the pitch and to be the star of the team. Add in a Carrick or someone to sit behind them and play more of a diamond and it might have worked, but even then I think the egos and club rivalries would have got in the way.
  13. If you do decide to sell your house to your kids, assuming that you do it on the cheap then make sure you consider the potential tax implications.
  14. The next two week's of work are only 4 days long each, as there's a 4 day weekend in the middle.
  15. Same. I realised about a decade ago it would be worthless (mostly through my wife nagging) so pumped money into private pensions. Whenever I got a parish or promotion I'd pop part of it in to the pot. Think I'm currently on about 17% of salary which helps. One of my colleagues is on a final salary pension scheme though, she told me she'd just ticked into £1m in total which is ridiculous and something I'll never get near.
  16. This seems to be the key bit from what I've seen. My in laws don't really do anything but spend time with each other, no social clubs or part time jobs/hobbies etc. They see us and my brother in laws family but that's only two or three times a month at most (we live the closest but it's still 20 miles away).
  17. I think the issue people have with them is now a lack of trust. They invested years in watching season after season of the show, investing time and emotion into the characters and storyline, for a show many saw as the best ever, only to then feel betrayed at the final moment because the producer's had something better to do and phoned it in. A bad analogy but imagine it's the last game of the season, we're challenging for 4th and only need a point. Then the lineup is announced and we have a squad full of u18s and get tonked, all because the main players all went out partying the night before.
  18. That was a regular walk for us before we moved to Cheshire. Last time we walked across from Dick Hudsons and took in the various sites, we got to the Cow just as a rock climber fell off the top and broke their leg. Horrible sound. Rombald's being on the doorstep is one of the few things I miss from living in Riddlesden (that and Shimla Spice being on the door).
  19. That at the Cow and Calf?
  20. This sounds ideal. My concerns about it when I eventually retire are based off seeing multiple family members (on my wife's side too), who seemed to start deteriorating (physically and mentally) when they retired. It was like they'd aged 15 years in about 3. It might be coincidental but it also seemed to be the trigger for my Mother In Laws dementia, like once she wasn't using her brain for work it just kinda stopped working properly.
  21. I was disappointed when I discovered that the American game I'd seen on TV and was for hardcore drinkers, namely Edward 40 hands. Only involved drinking 4 pints of average (for the UK) strength beer (5%+). There's probably 12 year olds in the UK who could do that.
  22. Missed 'X number of football pitches' for size.
  23. I dont want Trump to win, but I'm also not comfortable with the fact that he's likely to lose because he has raised less money. Elect the best candidate/party for the job, not the one who is best at fundraising/lobbying.
