  1. Whatever the questions here, it is so obvious that the answer is Keinan Davis ...... just do it ! #KeinanTime
  2. ..... so you really did expect Gerrard to come in mid-season and radically turn this team into a top four side ? Really ? Last I looked, we were top ten and I'm not sure Deano would have got close to top ten. Villa is a long term project and the true Gerrard era starts next season and then you can judge if you wish.
  3. Somebody voted Coutinho as MOM ...... no, really they did !!!
  4. Based primarily on his performances when he has come on and played. He gives the impression that he has nothing to prove and seems to just do the bare minimum. If he felt he had a point to prove - which he has - you would expect him to grab those opportunities by the scruff of the neck and he never does that. He should recognise that he desperately needs to get regular game time at senior level and should be pushing for a loan move as many of his peers have done to their benefit. I really do think he believes he is Premier ready and he is nowhere near in truth.
  5. At the moment, he really is not very good and has shown nothing to suggest he is even close to top flight ready. That is fine given his age and he still has the "p word" .... potential but I think he is no more than 20-30% likely to make a true Premier standard player at any age in the future. I agree with others that he desperately needs beefing up both physically and mentally with at least a season playing regular football on loan in League 1 or League 2, after which we'd be in a better position to assess his likely progress. I hope he both stays here and makes the grade but he gives the impression he thinks he's already there and he really is nowhere near.
  6. Defo win for Villa as I still have my lucky pants on ..... don't change them until we lose !
  7. I'm referring to the type of player for whom when the going gets tough, the tough get going. A player who leaves absolutely nothing out on the pitch and Luiz is none of those things. He has skills for sure but major doubts about his character and commitment. The sort of guy you would not want in the trenches alongside you. A player who plays for the name on the back of his shirt rather than the badge on the front. Do you want more ?
  8. Luiz is not a Gerrard player ..... he's slow, lazy, can't tackle and neither supports the defence nor the forwards. IMHO he hasn't had a decent run of form here for a very long time. Be absolutely delighted to lose him, especially if some mugs are prepared to pay £30M !!!
  9. ^^^ THIS ^^^ I get the "potential" thing but he's had quite a few cameo performances and never seems to show anything. Even Gerrard hinted that he needs to show on the pitch what he shows in training so if that isn't happening then now is not the time. Equally, if he is messing around with contract negotiations then leave him be. Don't see why we should be putting ourselves out for somebody who seems to think he's bigger and better than he really is. Send him out to League 1/2 for a few months of bump and grind on muddy pitches and if he performs as others have/are then maybe he can come back a better option.
  10. From experience, shin splints require a year of rest to repair and you will always be prone to a recurrence. Jack was suffering at the Euros and was never recovered even then. Sadly, I think he will never return to the level he once was at Villa. How on earth did he ever pass his City medical …… I seem to know more about shin splints than their medical team !!!
  11. Hugely rated once, played for England and then seems to have fallen through a trap door to oblivion. Hopefully those that abandoned him got it wrong and we can drag him back up to his best even if he is surely more a squad player than 1st XI !
  12. In fairness, its not unreasonable to expect more than one game in his first season. I don't blame the player, nor am I writing him off ..... I'm merely responding to the assertion that he would destroy Leeds if he played. I just don't get what that could be based on !
  13. LOL ! What, based on a few minutes in a substitute performance ? He is injury prone and woefully short of fitness (understandably) if he ever does get back. If he is going to rip anything, it will be his thigh / groin / hamstring / calf or whatever !
  14. Played well in the first half when it was a football contest. Second half, all that Blue Scouse did was hoof it long to Calvert-Lewin and hope to feed off the knock ons which obviously gave them territorial advantage, obviously took our midfield out of the game and obviously made them look like they were in the game but did they score ? I don't get some of the "played bad" negativity on here. Its like do they really have such a poor understanding of the game that they can't understand what they are watching ? Would love to hear their strategic plan for dealing with the Blue Scouse hoof ball because I sure as hell don't know what we could have done !!! Horrendously tough and ugly game out there in a cauldron of an atmosphere and we WON ...... well done lads !
  15. ..... or bring back Keinan ?!!!!
  16. Although I can't find the link at the mo, there's a Spanish reporter who stated that Barcelona and Coutinho both wanted to sign but Villa said no ..... they wanted the loan first as a means to check both his fitness (from recent injury) and his ability to fit back in at this level given that his form hasn't been great. The loan is in effect a trial and if he makes it then Villa WILL sign him but if he falls well short, the deal is off and he'll head home ...... or to Hartlepool or similar !
  17. Playing "lower % passes" ? Do you mean gifting the ball to the opposition repeatedly and leaving us horribly exposed and outnumbered on the breakaway ? I'll settle for "low % passes" but I'd prefer those passes to be to Villa players !
  18. Loved the signing based on what I saw at Narch but been very disappointed with him from the start. Yes he has improved but only from "OMG - what is that" to "he was less awful today" ..... and we have to have better players if we are to progress. He looks like a Championship player to me !
  19. Mings had a player in front of him ..... that was HIS man, not the runner who had been abandoned by our lazy midfielders. Once you have unmarked runners into the box then the CHs have no chance !
  20. I'd happily trade some of that "flair" in favour of stopping the suicide passes every game and some strength on the ball ...... not to mention a a real lack of pace. As for "tenacity" ..... I'll take it you offered that with a wry smile on your face. Seen more tenacity from a 12 year old !
  21. I think Ings and Watkins are both good strikers but both feed off early passes and we just don't do that. Buendia is touted as the feed but if we were honest with ourselves, he really isn't very good and starves our strikers of the service needed. Buendia is too slow and too lightweight for this level and is letting us down both up front and defensively where he contributes very little ...... and don't start me on the incredible number of suicide passes he makes in every game he plays. I think Gerrard knows where our main weakness as a team is and I fully expect at least two of last night's midfield will be squaddies rather than starters by February and then you will see the best of our strikers. Ings and Watkins failing to work together is not the problem ..... their failings are just the symptom of the real problem which is our weak midfield.
  22. Not sure I would blame TM for the goal if that is what you are referring to. The scorer came in from deep and passed two static Villa players, especially Luiz who just opted out and let him run untouched .... he should have gone with him or blocked the run because once he was through, neither of our CHs were going to stand a chance.
  23. Please no ..... we want to go forward, not backward. Jack's best days are over ..... he's a spent force !
  24. Buendia is the real issue IMHO ...... in terms of vision and making killer through passes, he was the new Grealish off whom both Watkins and Ings would feed. Buendia has been very ineffective and has only shown rare glimpses of the sort of support needed.
