  1. This is my lockdown/furlough activity too! I hope you're getting on better than me.
  2. You're right in the sense of his personality being someone 'up for a fight'. The reasons I think he is a bad idea are that he is as establishment as they come and he can't call out a lot of the Trump administration's behaviour without getting punched back at hard because of perceived nepotism of his son getting where he did at Burisma (with all the links to Russia, impeachment, DEEP STATE etc) and the fact Biden often makes up stupid shit himself. I believe the reason Trump won with his style is because it played to an "anti-establishment" (Lol or so they believe) voter base, whereas I don't see Biden playing as well as a career politician. I could of course be completely wrong and the fact Biden won the nomination may bring enough Republicans embarrassed with the current state of their party over that would never have supported Bernie.
  3. It isn’t at all I just think Biden plays to all of Trump’s strengths. Your probably right that it could come down to how people judge the pandemic to have been dealt with.
  4. I don’t see how Biden beats Trump. There is now no moral high ground to challenge the outrageous nepotism in government as Trump has ‘what about Burisma’. I could see the Dems winning the senate but if they do end up holding both houses you can bet the Republicans will do a much better job of weaponising ‘obstruction’ than Obama did.
  5. It's not unacceptable, but it is pretty transparent when your go to is always a joke about how stupid Diane Abbot is. Has anyone even seen her on TV since the election? It's weird that she'd be in anyone's immediate thoughts as an example of a moron all things considered. Diane Abbot received 1/3 of abuse aimed at female politicians on Twitter on the run up to the election largely led by middle-aged men who want to feel more intelligent than her even though she went to Cambridge so they can sneer at the concept of degrees. Also, didn't you (maybe remembering wrong) say after the odd shoe thing that you were genuinely worried for her deteriorating mental health? If it was you you're slightly undermining your sincerity.
  6. That's also a bit misleading as they have been putting huge amounts of money into propping up coal producers who employ a negligible amount of people in the grand scheme of things.
  7. I think you'd be surprised. I know people who work for the Conservative party with senior figures as well as working with someone whose dad socialises with Boris regularly and all these sources seem to see Cummings as a big driving force.
  8. If they're self employed and have no money coming in at the moment it's quite easy to understand how they may view it as essential as an alternative to starving to death!
  9. Has anyone watched the Get Shorty series with Chris O'Dowd and if so is it any good?
  10. I thought you were anti expert? I vividly remember a conversation we had during the transfer window where you laughed off people trusting experts. What is different about these experts that they should be trusted when generally you are against the concept?
  11. I still don’t get why McCormack would live in one of those flats. Surely he’s not burnt through his money and had to sell his house already. Maybe a pad he had for affairs/benders.
  12. So you’re taking the position he was drink driving unless somehow proven otherwise?
  13. If he wasn't drink driving do you think him leaving the house during the lockdown is worse than Bannan's drink driving? Having seen what drink drivers do to families I can't see how this could possibly be equivalent unless he was doing something like visiting a hospital where him leaving the house had a high chance to spread the virus to vulnerable people if he had it. I really don't care if he left the house in his car and would have returned in his car without setting foot outside (hitting other cars notwithstanding). I know I'll probably get people ranting what an irresponsible opinion it is, but I don't see how being shut up in a metal box is going to spread anything...apart from to the police who pull you over maybe.
  14. It's also astonishing how quickly people forgot a pissed up Jonny Evans and Gareth Barry crashing a knicked cab in Spain.
  15. I haven't seen a single person defending potential drink/drug driving. I haven't seen a single person say it's OK to pop over to his 'mate' Ross McCormack's house. Mostly people are saying we don't have all the facts so can't jump to conclusions or are contesting the validity of the third/fourth/fifthhand rumours of him being a coke head that people are casually chucking out. The only two things (if true) that are red flags for me are him leaving his windows open and being parked outside McCormack's. Apart from that all we know is he was driving in the morning, hit some parked cars and left details with someone before leaving. I've seen some suggest 'running from the scene of the crime' will get him prison time, which is absolutely absurd if they can't prove he was under the influence. It will be very interesting if the CCTV footage comes out as I imagine this will be the closest we get to understanding what went on. Doesn't his sister have cystic fibrosis? You'd expect him to be well aware of the risks to the vulnerable if I've remembered this right. Makes it worse if it does turn out to be true.
  16. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a bigger problem now simply because it would be much easier to function as a professional athlete with a coke problem than booze.
  17. I expect your brother wouldn't appreciate you posting every unsubstantiated claim on the internet if he's been told them by Capaldi in confidence.
  18. I guess it's just my WiFi being dodgy where I was set up then. I find it a bit weird video calling on these chats anyway, although I do it just to show I'm not staying in bed all day!
  19. Same as you guys I was hoping the price would come down then I'd consider buying it. Thinking I might just get a cheap Chinese handheld that can emulate 90s games instead.
  20. Pretty good so far. It slows down my remote desktop window a lot when using it for video chats with several cameras showing, but I have been sat as far from the modem in our house as possible.
  21. Ordered a digital piano Yesterday to see if I can finally bring myself to put some effort into learning an instrument. If this all goes on for months I reckon I'll make some progress, but if there's a miraculous reversal of the lockdown anytime soon it's probably going to end up quite an expensive doorstop.
  22. I just hope people have checked on isolated neighbours. I'm also expecting it to spread more to the regions now as an awful lot of London seem to have travelled to stay with family. Hopefully the majority of us are like the people who are reported to have had barely any symptoms.
  23. I have actually heard similar rumours from a friend who works in the civil service and has direct ministerial contact on a weekly basis. Still taking it with a massive pinch of salt until anything is confirmed, but I trust her enough that if she's heard that it is at least a possibility.
