  1. Like others have said lately, the whole football and Villa thing is becoming very, very meh. A late goal for the opposition is just so predictable now for Villa, we just seem to shrug it off as 'one of those things.' I don't even feel the need to punch the air in delight when we score or take the lead - perhaps it's because I'm finally getting old... but in my mind, it's the inevitability of what follows. So with diminishing care for what actually happens on the pitch, I'm just looking forward to December 2015... Episode 7... Yay!!! R2-Fifa and all... Oh the Millenium Falcon looks sex...
  2. It would be a proper shitter if we went through this whole run of 'easy' and 'winnable' fixtures (following on from the 'nailed on defeats in the nightmare five') without winning a game. This one will be all about the Palace fans - get your tin hats out.
  3. West Ham away in November 1995 - we won 4-1. Two main memories - two young Hammers fans showing 'porn magazines' to our substitutes warming up (lol) and best of all, Tommy Johnson celebrating with his finger on his chin right in front of me. One of my favourite away days of all time. Petrov from the halfway line - another great away day. Carbone's goal in the FA Cup against Leeds. TYVM. Oh, one final one... Ian Taylor... scoring for Villa... at Wembley. If ever there was a 'Roy of the Rovers' thing for Villa, that was it. If I was that way inclined, I would knock one off the wrist for that moment.
  4. The culmination of three years' worth of misery (especially at Villa Park) has left me feeling like I just don't care any more. No point in getting angry with the situation, I can't change it. I don't miss my season ticket and I simply raise a wry (empathetic) smile when I see the outpouring of ongoing angst on here. I've realised that there really is more to life than getting angry every other weekend down Villa Park. Sooner or later, struggling clubs WILL fall through the trap door. A season (or more) in a competition in which we stand more than our fair share of being able to compete in might do us (the fans, if not the club) some good. It would be shame to lose the Premier League 'ever present' label, but seriously, what good is it doing us right now? Canon Fodder - that's what.
  5. Yep, the day Kevin Nolan **** off out of football will be happy indeed. Poultry dancing word removeding word removed. 7th defeat in a row... And looking ahead, I can feel 8 in a row and resignation brewing.
  6. I really don't believe that a draw will be good enough. QPR are bottom of the league. After suffering bum rape for the last 4 games against 'top, top oppo,' we MUST beat teams like QPR when they are bottom of the league. No pressure then boys. A draw, doesn't go anywhere near stopping the rot for me here. In the real world, I worry about this fixture. Mr Cockney Twitchen will have his lot right up for this game, cuddly Aston Villa to divert all the gumph from their last outing v the scallys.
  7. Oi!! You leave my railway out of it!!
  8. Sooooo, what we really need after our current blip of bad form then, is an opportunity to play the bottom of the league club... And what Mr Cockney Twitchen needs is an opportunity to play 'Cuddly Aston Villa.' 27th October interesting evening on TV. Popcorn time.
  9. In my case, it's not about liking anybody, especially when they are not connected to my football club. I didn't much like Alex Ferguson - but I had a lot more respect for what he achieved in the game than what I feel I can give Mourinho. The word removed has no class.
  10. A word removed managing a scum bag club of several words removed. Many many many words removed. Edit - Just to be clear - it's Mourinho who is the word removed, and the scum bag club of several words removed is Chelsea. The other multiple words removed for emphasis is actually anything else to do with the words removed-ish Chelsea FC. Shitbags.
  11. Floella Benjamin a Villa Fan - cool. Lay on five... She used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid considering where I grew up. A black woman with dreadlocks on kid's TV. Up the Villa though Flo... Not a fan of a fan take over imo. We would unanimously fail to agree on anything other than agree to disagree. Yeah?
  12. Just posting here to make up the numbers... like my team.
  13. Roy Keane famously called Katie Melua a 'bitch liar.' There are actually 9,000,312 bicycles in Beijing. AND, Roy Keane has ridden them all. Got thrush now It's why we lost to Arsenal. Ooooh, wrong gag.
  14. Fabulous result and most unexpected from my perspective. I was very impressed with the cohesion shown by the team and their dedication to the cause really paid off. It wasn't sexy, but it was effective. Full marks to the team for sticking to their task - even with Roncrete out. Still too early to count chickens etc, but e have relieved an awful lot of early potential pressure on us, which only bodes well. When the final whistle went, I was a bit like that Walsall toddler doing the ice bucket challenge... 'XXXXXXX Hell...'
  15. After getting home from work yesterday, I opened the box and put the disc in my PS4. I was horrified that I then spent the next 3 hours downloading a game patch or something just to enable me to get up and running. 3 hours to download 256mb? AOL broadband - you am shit. So, when the Wales match finished and the download had finished, I tried to play. Nice opening cinematic - felt very nice indeed. Created my character - though very limited scope for personalisation in comparison with my experiences with Star Wars The Old Republic. I guess there will be a DLC for that. Then I tried to play the game... for real. Cue getting kicked from the game... servers down... back to cinematic... still no servers. After 2 hours of this, I went to bed determined to get my money back. As launch days go - that was pathetic. Seeing other reviews here and elsewhere (Amazon) - not sure I'm actually missing anything. Level cap is still 20 and if you want anything else, there's a DLC for that. I understand (if one review is to be believed) that some originally promised content is now held back to be released as DLC... I guess all that hype needs to be paid for somehow... Must be the same people who run the FA and suddenly have a large amount of money still to pay for a 'new' stadium that they can't fill... Back to SWTOR then on PC until Far Cry 4. Or SW Battlefront. Still, at least I can now watch my 3D films through PS4.
  16. We have got off to the good start we needed. Now bracing myself for the fall back down to earth as the Premier League table begins to take it's more normal look over the next month or so... Apart from the cup result last month, the team have delivered pretty much what was needed. I'm yet to be convinced that they can keep it up...
  17. Whichever way you cut your arguement, there were more than enough players of reasonable quality with the ammunition to beat Leyton Orient - but they didn't. It could be worse, we could be Manure fans... I mean, at least our failures are of no real surprise or no consequence, especially to the massed jizz-boys at Sky. No, no... at least our failures are not picked through and scrutinised to the finest detail for several days after by the media. We could have lost 4-0 to MK Dons... The only bone picking, is here on VT.
  18. I said last week that I would take a draw before the game, so I am in no real position to moan and whinge. Good to see us being 'difficult to beat' - though to be fair to the rest of the Premier League, we will face much tougher tests both on the road and at Villa Park. In terms of those tougher tests, I doubt we will have much opportunity to carve out decent attacks on target and actual physical goals in those games either. So, as one poster eloquently put it, for £42 against the potential 'likes' of Newcastle and Stoke, our attacking mode is absolutely Bruce (Dyer)... Dire. Hopefully, our main strikers will set off a joyload upon their return. But I am bracing myself for it not to happen - just in case. Feeling okay at the moment, but not counting any chickens just yet with regards to how the season will pan out. My footballing soul has been damaged over the last 40 months.
  19. 2-0 Newcastle - and popcorn o'clock for the fall out on Saturday evening. Would take a draw here and now tyvm.
  20. In truth a fantastic result - and that's what it was, a result. 3 points less for us to hunt for come Spring 2015. Well done then Villa... Difficult place to go away to (2nd season running on opening day I might add) and to come away with all three points was magic. I'll ignore the potentially biased MOTD coverage that reflected a game that Stoke were likely victims of a mugging and the BBC Sport website possession statistics. An interesting goal in terms of how it ended up in the net. I thought the chance had gone, and so did the keeper I suspect. But credit to Weimann. Power and placement, results in keeper red face. Paul is off to the good stat he needed for the bumpy period to come next month or so. Yay...
  21. People who refuse to wait for others to alight from a train before storming aboard in a selfish attempt to get a seat. Residents of Milton Keynes and fat 'foreign' tourists attending 'Harry Potter World' near Watford Junction, please note. Humbug.
  22. Ingram - I hear what you are saying... it's like the modern world has all this technical gubbins available for the masses of public society, but they don't know what to do with it next. That said, I'd personally much rather walk down the street shaking my head in derision at somebody who had taken a photo of themself with a sub-standard (allegedly) ice cream attempt than suffer an act of terrorism. And now not aimed at you... Terrorists (specifically fundamentlist jihadists for example) - have no apparant respect for their own life, or that of genuinely innocent people. How on earth can their fight ever be justified? There is no way on this planet that I will ever bow down to an ancient deity through force. They can cut my hands off for having a sneaky wank in the shower, they can cut my dick off for having sex with a woman who wasn't married to me, they can cut my head off for not believing in the Koran. But I will never suck a jihadist's cock or bow down to an ancient deity. No way, no how. Sorry, rave over...
  23. And is there a cough and drop test?
