  1. So, upon reading yesterday evening's posts, those looking to understand how the debate has progressed, it seems that Lerner could actually announce that he is to stay on with a plethora of other, more wealthy backers behind him. To help make this possible, Lerner has done some cleaning at the club to make us look more sparkly and new. So, if Lerner stays and continues with his tasks, is it fair to assume that he will be dressed in a French Maid's outfit complete with claret and blue bra and knickers? Allegedly...
  2. Interesting and my reply is off topic to a degree so I apologise for that. If Klinsmann is available, why wouldn't he be poached by Spurs? <sherlock emote> Back on topic - there was a lot of stuff said in the media (which could be or might not be total testicles) about the requirement for Villa to still be a Premier League club come next season in order for a take over to go ahead. I currently buy in to the premise that with our safety assured for this season, then the door is now open for a quick, done sale. That is my hope.
  3. Perhaps the Pope will be addressing St Peter's Basillica with all the latest Villa news?
  4. Didn't expect anything from the game, and I was not disappointed in what I got. Embarrassed maybe, but not disappointed. Very easy to brush this one aside as we had nothing to play for, the game meant nothing for us other than the spectre of humiliation of a live televised thrashing. I'd love to feel as proud as Paul does. But meh... We never were and still are not good enough. Bring on the summer.
  5. If Paul is given until Christmas as some suggest, who will be available to replace him if it is still going tits up? Fulham... Norwich... Cardiff anyone? We shouldn't shy away from change because the fans are shit scared of who might be available or not to come in and do something positive this summer. A whole summer. Next month, when the fixtures come out, I will straight away be checking April and May's proposed opposition to work out what we are likely to need and the feasibility of getting it. I know that over the course of a season you have to play each team once at home and once away in the league... but the way things have been, if we have a run of fixtures like Norwich's final 6 this term, I'd really fear for us. Tempered only by the fist that Sunderland have made of things. If it's going tits up by Christmas, it might be too late. Fulham, Norwich and Cardiff.
  6. Did someone mention Bernie Lomax?
  7. Ten behind the ball, smash and grab and we might have a chance. But a chance is all it will be. We appear to be safe now other than for an ulikely goal difference swing - we don't really have anything to play for. We're there to make up the numbers, provide a 'free hit' and just turn up to go through the motions. We've had our win this season against City, so it won't happen again tonight. Two title chasing teams have had ropey results already this week. It won't happen tonight. Vlaar - take some lube with you. It's going to be a long night for you. A game to see the best of Guzan... I challenge you to prove me wrong... Best of luck Villa, methinks you will need it.
  8. Great win, well done Villa... Safe for another season. Now, club needs some change. For today... May the fourth be with you...
  9. Pac - but that is just simply your fault for having such high expectations that your club SHOULD have a plan B. To be fair, our Plan B is injured as well, our Plan C is not good enough and share's part of his name with a 'model' who has big tits and our Plan D just doesn't even get on the bench for some reason. All your fault. Plan E was brought in on a short term loan deal. He's probably done just as well as we all expected so we can't be held accountable for that as fans. Happy Friday y'all... <insert jocular smileycon wherever you like - twas all in jest> Pac - but that is just simply your fault for having such high expectations that your club SHOULD have a plan B. 10. That, and also the very poor form they were in generally when we went up their earlier this year as well. Fingered in the last minute... live and exclusive on Sky Sports... I'm sure we'll do it this time. <clenches buttocks>
  11. To be fair VR, i think people who pay money have a right to change their mind...
  12. It's like waiting for the fight to start in Rocky 2.
  13. Why on earth would Hernandez come here? I sense a Djemba-Djemba palm off...
  14. Hull have won 3 of 17 away games, losing 11. Now they have both eyes firmly on a cup final. You make it sound like us drawing is going to be one of the upsets of the season. I can think of several teams who have come to Villa Park this season with an appalling away/form record until faced with cuddly Aston Villa. Newcastle Stoke Fulham United - had a string of defeats before their visit to Villa Park. No reason at all why Hull can't add to that the way things are right now.
  15. I thought MON was going to do a Villa at Sunderland and he didn't. I was half expecting Eck to prove everyone wrong when he went to Forest... and... nope. Apart from a very, very, very rare exception, nobody goes on from managing Villa to do better. Lambert's dye is cast and his stock forever cursed. Deep down, though I tried my hardest to see the positives in everything, he lost me on Boxing Day. I have been lying to myself ever since.
  16. I have written to the club to request that they turn my Holte End seat into a giant sofa, so that we can all hide behind it during the game...
  17. The 1980s were fab... "I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour... but heaven knows I'm miserable now..." The Smiths...
  18. I remember the last home game of the Graham Taylor Mk. 2 season (2002/03). He even came on the mic and said words to the effect of 'It's been a lousy season...' to which it seemed, a large portion of the remaining crowd booed!! To be honest, whatever happens on Saturday, I would rather they just didn't. It will either turn nasty and make the club look shiter than it is, or make the fans look like an ungrateful bunch of tossers... which is what the press will focus on. Better for the players, and for us mere mortals if it was treated as any other Saturday. Beeeeeatch!! Beat me to it! Grrrrr... lol
  19. I think I would as well Wedge. In fact, I would renew if we were in the Championship without a doubt next season as we would be in a tournament that at least we had a chance of competing and most likely with a new manager and (less likely) a new owner too. But - for the jingoist further up the thread who would urge everyone to renew (my old chestnut about not falling for blind loyalty), I'm not paying 500 notes to watch the same old next season. Sooner or later, as a supporter, if you are not happy, you have to act. Different strokes etc.
  20. I'd piss myself Bugger that... I'd go the whole hog and 'shit myself with rage...'
  21. Damn those pesky meddling kids... Over to the teenangels and Capn Caveman!!! Just kidding... I love a good conspiracy.
  22. How does Paul Faulkner get away with standing to watch the game, in a gangway no less, while we all have to sit down? Where's the **** stewarding there? Faulkner out.
  23. Show you my coaching badges? Drop the sanctimony. What next? You can't criticise the Government if you have no degree in politics? Wrap up. And nobody had better criticise the railway without considering the poor sod out there at 2 in the morning in the pissing rain and having to pick up body parts, or deal with scumbag cable thieves. Other than that, I normally appreciate your posts VR.
  24. And there in a nutshell is this season's progress... A point was just about enough of a 'treat' after the last couple of weeks. But yet another 'winnable' match (at home!!) passes us by with barely a whimper. It really isn't good enough. The Club knows this, hence some of the 'mystifier' news appearing on the OS over the weekend regarding our future. Really cannot wait for this season to finish now, bored off my tits.
