    Carles Gil

That idea has probably come from him being absolutely class in the vast majority of small chances he was given. Him not playing doesn't bother me too much as we are playing well and the players currently ahead of him (such as Grealish) are clearly benefiting from the game time. However it is frustrating me the amount of people being ridiculed on this thread for merely wanting to see more of a player who was by far our best performer in a number of appearances.
  2. Header off the line wasn't awesome, watch again. Yes he was in the right place, fair play for that, but he watched the ball for about 3 seconds before it came to him. What would you suggest he did instead? Jump 6 feet higher and head the ball while it was 15 feet in the air? Don't think it was suggested that he did anything wrong, just that the header was what you would expect from anyone who has ever played football before and probably not "awesome".
  3. Completely agree. Not one person would have been giving him praise had we lost yesterday IMO.
  4. I'll presume this has been asked many times before but why is this thread named in such a way?
  5. He has to be fair. Problem is they were the first couple of games this season and he's been largely crap since He looked poor to me, was just overlooked due to us winning games and there being no reason to search for a scapegoat.
  6. This. How can Sherwood truly feel as though Grealish is going to put anything more in for the team defensively? Had a good game but I'd still rather see Gil if it was one or the other.
  7. Am I on my own in not being even slightly impressed by him last year? Scored some goals granted but looked a poor player and barely won any headers despite often having a significant physical advantage. Slightly excited for him to be coming back just because it's another option but can't say I'm expecting much if I'm honest, wouldn't mind being proved wrong though.
  8. Didn't think he was that bad to be honest, not a class performance by any stretch, however I think he can offer something Cissokho can't (pace and crossing). Didn't see the last ten minutes so if he was mind-blowingly gash in that period then some of these posts will be more understandable to me.
  9. The guy also couldn't win headers. He used to shrink his neck into his shoulders like a turtle when he went in the air and he didn't win **** IIRC. Then again, the 'if' in IIRC is a big one as my memory is a bit fuzzy from 2007.
  10. Was only messing about no need to go into meltdown
  11. I don't think he's a particularly bad footballer but yeah he doesn't have any singular attribute which he exceeds at, is okay at everything which just simply isn't enough for this level. Wouldn't mind him as a back up squad option if he was some lad from overseas or a youth player but no way he would be accepting of that as you can tell he thinks he's class.
  12. Pure class today, maybe the best I've seen him play for Villa but then again could be hyperbole due to everyone else being shit. Was very confident on the ball today as well, won us a few free kicks going past players and showed some really nice skill and quick feet under pressure.
  13. I thought he showed some good signs today, definitely should be starting all games for me (bar the top 5, especially away from home). His movement is so superior to the rest of our players it's laughable. Showed some really nice flicks and tricks as well today. Who else noticed that backheel spin from Guzan's throw?? I was so close to cumming, even the Leicester fans applauded that piece of football porn
  14. Shane Long Wickham Fletcher Soldado That West Brom guy Jelavic Ulloa. Riviere There's about £70m worth there for you. Fletcher, Wickham and Ulloa are all poor in the air are they Long is very quick as well mate. Soldado is a class footballer despite being lazy so not quite the same. I'll give you Jelavic but Rivière is pure gash
  15. I don't give a **** if he would prefer to play down the middle. Show me a top flight striker who is weak, slow, poor in the air and can't pass. In the modern game there is no room for a forward like Weimann and that's why he is played outwide. Even if he was played through the middle though I doubt he'd be much better as when he comes inside and gets in the box he makes the football look like a golden snitch.
  16. Yeah - but most of those goals were shots.. Great stat.
  17. Might seem like a stupid question but... you can go down and buy tickets on the day can't you? Never tried it.
  18. Nice one. Weren't sure mainly ' cus I went Everton away on general sale.
  19. Was wondering whether whether away game tickets tend to go on to general sale or not, notably the Leicester game next month? I go to about ten home games a year on my account, however I presume that won't be enough to qualify as "booking history". I live in Leicester so need to be going to this one, however didn't know whether to hold out for tickets to go on general sale or just get a seat in the home end - which I will have to do soon as they sell out every home game (imagine that ).
  20. There is definitely an argument to do that so we're not so reliant on one player. However seeing what happened with Spurs and Liverpool with Bale and Suarez respectively makes me think that Villa would end up signing a couple more Tonev and Syllas. Especially considering that their scouting networks will be vastly superior to ours yet they still ended up with only a couple of decent players between them. I think I'd rather have a proven premier league goalscorer and a team of cloggers than have an average team with no stand out strengths or weaknesses.
