  1. I like Westwood and he has played well in some games, but to say he was "great" in his first two seasons is very, very far from the truth, IMO.
  2. Neither was I. Just saying I find it odd how people blindly follow the current views of the manager, not defending N'Zogbia.
  3. When Sherwood was picking him, most on VT were hailing N'Zogbia's performances as vital to our turnaround. Have those people now changed their minds or vanished? Because all I can now see is hate for him which I find a little strange after his large amounts of plaudits last season, prior to the cup final.
  4. That post has made me realise there's been so much gash to play for the club in the last 5 years or so. More so than any other club I can think of - in terms of having individuals who are just way below par. We were lucky to have class such as Benteke to level it out to just a slightly below average prem team.
  5. myko, time for a new avatar.
  6. Yeah that tackle was class, made me think he could play out wide and still do the defensive work.
  7. Really hope he leaves. One of those players it's just painful to watch - either because he's constantly getting himself injured or because he looks like he's quite literally about to **** himself whenever he's on the ball.
  8. I started thinking that Delph possibly was good enough for City, but then again, when you think that Milner wasn't good enough to get a chance in centre mid then you can hold little hope for Delph

  10. Yes. I daid this a few pages ago. This is exactly what I feared. We have been shocking for last few seasons but our best players were Guzan, Vlaar, Delph and Benteke at various points. You could also argue Bent's goals kept us up when he signed. Only Guzan has a realistic chance of staying. The others have gone, nearly gone or pretty much guaranteed at some point! I genuinely think we're screwed. We've finished 17th last season. The top players were Delph, Benteke, Grealish and Cleverley. We'll have one left. The season starts in less than a month. We've also sold or released Weimann, Lowton, Given who featured at least in part as well as a few other players who weren't involved heavily in Sylla, Bent, Luna, Herd. We've brought in Sinclair for nominal, Richards on a free and Bunn on a free. A weak team a lot weaker. No, today I don't have patience. Today I'm done. Im going to enjoy my last season as a Premier League season ticket holder and look forward to my first as a Championship season ticket holder! I can't see Villa spending enough to compensate for the losses. I can't see Villa spending enough to even tread water. I certainly can't see us spending enough to go in to next season with an improved squad. So a crap team has spent the summer getting even worse. Don't be so fickle. Have you forgotten already who we signed yesterday?
  11. And you're happy to call a man you've never met "scum" for moving to a club in a deal that'll see him play at a level Villa cannot offer and set up his entire family for life. Quite frankly, I genuinely couldn't give a toss what you think about anything. You've shown your true colours in this thread and I'm ashamed to be part of the same species as you, to be quite frank. Go get some goddamned perspective ffs I'm 99.9% certain Delph has never and will never visit Villa Talk. And even if he had occasionally, he would never do so at a time like this. So let people vent their anger on an Internet forum and stop comparing it to people going up to him and abusing him in the street.
  12. How can those who are sticking up for him justify Delph making such a big deal out of him signing and banging on about wanting to end his career here and that "this is my club"? I couldn't give any less of a **** about a measly 8 million (only 2 million more than we signed him) - especially when you consider it'll probably just go to Randy's pocket. To me, he's taking the piss out of us fans and it's far worse than Downing
  13. I remember Delph doing an interview about Tonev when he first signed and saying something about being really impressed by him in training, which for me at least shows that he does have the talent - just other issues (e.g. adjusting to a new culture/league) which have made him come nowhere near to fulfilling his potential. I still wouldn't be surprised to see him turn good. Edit - found it. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-interview-picture-gallery-5730556
  14. Is it just me who thought he looked a decent player with the exception of the horrendous shooting.....? Going against the norm but I wouldn't mind him given another chance

    Carles Gil

Dropping Gil for N'Zogbia was 100% the wrong decision IMO.
  16. Guzan over Ospina all day long for me
  17. I'm clinging to the rumour announced about a week ago, about Liverpool bidding 12 mil plus Borini and Ibe (on loan) for Delph, as hope that there isn't a 10 million buy out clause. Unless they were paying the unnecessary 2 million for us to take Borini off their hands.
  18. I haven't watched much of Begovic in isolation to be honest. But I'm basing this on the little I have seen. Is Begovic being prone to mistakes, like the save against Weimann last season, not exactly the sort of thing that is being used by some to argue Guzan isn't a good enough keeper for us?
  19. Good player and possibly a slight upgrade on Guzan, however if we sign Begovic for about 10 mil and go in to next season still starting the likes of Richardson and N'Zogbia then I would regard this as a very poor move
  20. It's ridiculous how many people blindly follow the opinions of the current manager. The ratings of the likes of Guzan and Gil have dropped dramatically since Sherwood has been in charge and not given them much of a chance.

With the exception of Sunderland away, N'Zogbia was average at best for those games and would not receive any plaudits if it wasn't for the rest of the team playing well, IMO.
  22. Exactly, seems like because he's one of our own people take a difference stance on this. No problem with him getting drunk, but ending up in the middle of the street is embarrassing, and people saying this is normal? It's not normal for your average 30 year old bloke or a 19 year old of many other countries, but for this country, it is. Jack's about the same age as me and I have seen pictures of the majority of people I'm friends with in that sort of state. It's just the binge drinking culture for teenage lads - however I am surprised that it transcends over to premier league footballers
