  1. Wow - I used to hang out with Chris in London when he was recording his albums. I have some stories to tell, but probably better over PM!
  2. I saw Buddy not long before he died at Wolverhampton Town Hall. Love the album Live from Ronnie Scotts from the early 80’s.
  3. Christmas Eve is hot pork sandwiches- got up and did the crackling and the pork is slow roasting. For some reason my phone keeps wanted to autocorrect pork to porn Those mince pies look lovely @mjmooney
  4. Duck!! My favorite restaurant joke ! (you have to be there)
  5. I do want to say to all the VT'ers who are having a hard time. No matter what the reason, (and a few I've read recently include and are not limited to) unexpected kids, feeling alone, pandemic depression, work/relationship strife, partners families not accepting - remember that you have a place here to vent/talk/read or just feel supported. I'm not quite sure how I understand the phenomena of strangers on a football chat forum feeling like friends at the pub or an anonymous online family, but what I do know is that I often see the best of human nature on here; funny, kind, caring and supportive. That's wonderful that we're all part of it and I'm very happy to be here with you all. All the best for Christmas, UTV and remember that everyone has a home here.
  6. I put it on the other night but it seemed so dated I ended up browsing on here and then fell into a Youtube hole.
  7. Dehlinger are good but after extensive and exhaustive research I can save you trouble and say Hartford & Arista are 2 spectacular Pinot makers. In-laws have a house in Sebastopol - bought when it was apple orchards in the 50's which have been ripped out for vines. Now, every patch of grass in Sonoma has a vine on it - right next to the highway. It makes you think when you buy a bottle that has "Sonoma" on it how much asphalt has seeped in. But I've been fortunate to spend a lot of time there. What a place, it's a travesty it's going to burn to the ground in the next 10 years. Gimlets are nice. But sadly these days I couldn't tell you the last time I drank spirits as I just can't take the hangovers. They seem to be between excruciating and murderous these days. Red wine once a month, maybe, otherwise it's Sauvignon Blanc. I'll have a nice drop of Pinot on Christmas day with the prime rib but it's a shame I can't do cocktails anymore.
  8. My father in law gets it from somewhere - no idea where. Sad thats it's become that way though. Anything from the Russian River Valley is always superb - best Pinot on the planet. Hartford is our favorite winery if you're into that kind of thing and ever find yourself up that way.
  9. When we go to my wife's fam in the bay area this is what I'm hitting.
  10. Went out this morning to get some wrapping paper at a shop called "Target" (Think huge Asda.) - it looked like armageddon had happened. The shelves were absolutely bare. 5 rolls of wrapping paper left in the whole shop. People driving like lunatics everywhere was terrifying. Picked up the bone-in standing rib roast - I will post pictures of it as if I am a millennial and it's 2012.
  11. I think it was Mail article after the season - Essentially Sherwood didn't realize his team had to plan the fitness regimes - he thought someone else did. They were googling it that morning out in Portugal. Kendrick kept it under wraps at the time but it shows what an absolute cluster**** it was.
  12. You and my bloody mother would get along great Complain all winter its grey, cold & miserable. 1st sunny day - oooh, it's too hot. That woman could be in paradise and it would be "all a bit too nice." (Off topic I know.)
  13. Ashley Westwood turned his back on every challenge. What an absolute travesty of a midfielder. Only time I stopped watching the games was this season. We'd stayed up by the skin our teeth and then sold Benteke, Delph and Vlaar left. The whole spine. We replaced them with Lescott (who was shot) Micah (who should have been taken around the back of Bodymoor and shot) Gueye (poor guy, Player of the Season) and freakin energy drink boy Gestede. All trained by Sherwood and his team who were printing "get fit" guides off the internet at the hotel in Portugal during pre-seaon. I swear to God a consortium of monthly "most liked posts" off of VT could have managed the club better.
  14. I agree that their wages should be higher. I also agree that John Moss probably wouldn't win a foot race with my nan who died in 2001. (it's an embarrassment that fat f**k is a PL ref.) I've been backstage (before playing the national anthem) at a few US sporting events. I'll never forget seeing the NBA refs walking into the stadium in Miami. The confidence they exuded was palpable. No-one was allowed near them - they knew they were untouchable. A quick google seems to suggest that within 3 years they make half a million a year. Certainly not as much as the stars of the game but enough to know that integrity would make them and their families very, very rich. The PGMOL should campaign to get refs paid 5-10 times more - then you would start to see a coveted career by serious athletes who love the game.
  15. Thats no way to talk about your center back partner!
  16. Just watched the new Matrix. It's reboot and a nostalgia fest. Could have been written by a fan-boy. It was never going to be as revolutionary as the Matrix, but there are many other stories that could have been told in that world IMO. It's enjoyable enough if you liked the original, but don't expect to have your mind blown at all. Originally the Matrix was a serious story telling vehicle and what I didn't expect was it often bordering on parody/pastiche of itself in the same ways that Bond's do - a nod and a wink to the camera. Kinda lame.
  17. Loads do try - writing a hit is hard - writing a Christmas hit song is like unicorn poop. "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.......) is the highest grossing song of all time I believe. Mel Torme's grandkids are made for life because if it and probably their kids too. Nat King Cole recorded it first, but Mel and his family made all the dough.
  18. Never heard of it/them! I did watch a doc on Bandaid last night. At least they wrote the thing so had all of the royalties going to the charity. If it's a cover it's not making real money.
  19. Hopefully there's opportunities to progress and move up in the company eventually Glad the stress is not too bad!
