Can only improve us. Who cares how much, it's Randy's money, rather risk 8mil on TC than the £5/6m we spunked out on Tonev et al who are now all loaned out because they were utter rubbish, or £1m on that Aquafresh fella.

Simply crazy, we turn a corner and still manage to shoot ourselves in the foot? Surely having a valuable player(s) locked into a contract is of benefit when selling the club? It will cost the same to employ a replacement but add to that the transfer fee? Utter madness.

Pleasing performance, but this says more about how shite we have become. Massively short on quality at the business end of the field, but look much more solid. Really in need of 2nr big money signings and our forwards to come back. I am losing my fear thankfully, but he next 4/5 games will show us where we really are.

I had a real downer on PL, but his summers work in very difficult circumstances is excellent so far. Perhaps there is a good manager in there after all. If he can crack the possession and creating chances, with Benteke and Kojak back we could be a surprise this season. Noted he said this evening that Vlaar is going nowhere, even running his contract down won't alter that.

Looked ok to me, doesn't set the world on fire, but was far from a liability which is what our midfield (whole team) had become. Another solid acquisition by Lambert for me, but not sure if he will get too much game time once The Rock gets up to speed and Cole finds his place?

Looked ok to me. Solid debut. I was expecting him to be limited and just a midfield anchor/destroyer but his passing game looks pretty bright. Great value.

Hard to turn down £15m on a 29 year old in the last 12 months of his contract, although I read yesterday that Lambert wants £20m. Vlaar is the Go-On-Strike sort, but would never begrudge a player a big money move to a club like Man Utd. Vlaar has only just come good, he can be replaced though. That's football. He won't go to Utd though, just can't see this happen.

I thought I read somewhere Gabby's on £57k p.w.? Gets through more work than Bent, and it looks like we are to be a team based on graft. Really doesn't warrant a starting place for me. Can't wait for Benteke and Kojak to come back. Can see us playing with 5 in midfield and 1 up top when they are back, hopefully Sanchez will replace Gabby, this would feel much more solid.

I would agree that Vlaar's value has rocketed, tempered only by his 1 year outstanding contract. Three views: 1) Lambert gave him his chance and persevered when he looked a bit dodgy, Ron owes him and with a new 3 year bumper deal is promised the Captaincy, 1st team football and is in pole position when (ahem!) a new billionaire owner buys the club in December and we become a top 6 team again. 2) Man Utd and Van Gaal offer him £75K p.w. as a squad player and he bites their hand off (who wouldn't?). We get £14m 3) Southampton offer similar money and we get £15m+ because we don't have to sell.

We've made 3 signings already and no-one has left, so i don't know what this comment is based on Albrightons gone to Leicester (and no it didn't bother me, but despite the money, 5 years ago this wouldn't have happened), Vlaar and Delph will be next and who can blame them, the three we have signed are stocking fillers on their last chance/payday and not the future of the future of the club, but Richardson may prove this wrong I hope. I accept you or correct in the literal sense, but we are a desperate football club at the moment.

I reckon he's finished. I think he's had his big pay day and now has nothing to play, he has the look of total disinterest whenever I see him, not sure this will change. Should be a real asset, it's a shame.

I'm more leaning towards Fun Factory's view - you can't lay all the rubbish at Lerners door, he was appointed to move the club forward despite the challenge, he needed to front up to the challenge and make it happen. It will be no coincidence that he has presided over a very dark period. Bad decisions have been made, PR is poor, and despite the major surgery the accounts are still looking grim. I do feel the job was beyond him, but I cannot deny the constraints imposed by the owner and the fickleness of the football results business in that he is the Patsy for a lack of results by the playing staff and Manager.

Looking forward to this. Could be inspired, could be gone by Christmas, let's face it none of us know owing to Keane being out of the game for so long, but let's hope its the former.

I hope to God that we don't sell Vlaar, much as I don't rate him, at least he's a one eyed man in the land of the blind. Just summoned the courage to look at our fixtures, I am dreading next season. Our best hope is keeping who we have, getting the crocs back playing and making the most of the full list of players on the payroll. If only I trusted Lambert to get the most out of them. I have learned to hate MON (fair play he could see this coming), and never thought I would say this, but how I wish he was in charge of next season and the players we now have.

Feeling better about next season already, should bring some intelligence and guile - even if he only plays 25% of next season it should bring more intelligence and guile than all of last season.
