  1. On reflection we are better of for losing Delph, Vlaar and Cleverly, acted as the kick up the arse we needed. It still has to click on the pitch however. Putting renewed optimism aside, top ten is a big ask. Would be happy with a safe 12th given our new look and inevitable settling in. Still feel we will be shipping goals against more technically adept managers. Tackling the attach and goal scoring record was no1 priority, thats certainly ticked off.
  2. I won't believe this until Tim gives him a facial
  3. I like the guy, wants to be here, fought to be here, saying all the right things. I reckon he desperately wanted to show it too. We are going to love him.
  4. Thing is though Leicester have loads a money so can throw him more than we would offer as their marquee signing, and they are desperate.
  5. Where are today's ones? I'd like to read them. one linked on villanewsnow In fairness most are bloggers trying to make a name for themselves rather than professional Journo's, its easy to set up an account or join a sport website and spout shite, they are deliberately provocative to pull in the traffic and revenue.
  6. Anyone know what our net spend is this window? Not sure with these latest player signings but reckon we have circa £20m left to spend yet until we are in deficit? If thats the case could still see another £10m midfielder (Praet/Darder/Ntep/Young/Townsend) and forward (Gestede/Holgate/Austin/Other) yet?
  7. Re Tent's assertion - two words: Djemba-Djemba, remember these two shockers?
  8. Answering my own question, but an [alleged] ITK on Twitter suggests we are waiting on Cambiasso who is interested, and failing that may have one more mid. Veretout medical tomorrow. Adebeyor this week, waiting on Holgate too, no other strikers. Baker and Robinson to go out on loan/perm, tonev, Cissokho, Hutton, baker and senderos told to find new clubs. Clarke to have new contract shortly, possibly this week. N'Zog away on Thursday. Suggest's our new SD Almstadt is key to a lot of this activity as they were on Arsenals radar and conversations were had while at the Arse. Twitter: whispers_listen
  9. Do you think that any of Townsend, Darder, Praet and Ntep are still on the radar? Still think we need another forward even if we sign Adebeyor.
  10. He's carrying a bit more timber these days?
  11. I don't think 50 is beyond the realms of possibility. Sherwood was more attacking than Lambert as you say. If say main strikers got 12 each, with gabby and Kozak adding 5 each. Gil, Jack and new AM 2/3 each. Corners looked to be put in with more pace, and Richards attacks the ball well. Clark when first in team scored from a few set pieces as well. So I'd expect those two to get 2/3 each. Then you have amavi and the other cms chipping in as well. Ha, Gabby wont score 5!
  12. Cool. With the proposed signings on the horizon I am getting excited. MId table safety by April is going top feel winning the Champions League!
  13. Nor can I to be honest. I can, however, see Ayew and Adebayor (if we get him) getting 20 plus so maybe they won't have to. Gabby, no, but Kozak possibly. For all his unfashionableness he has a knack for goals and has proved it. I am not sure he will get the game time though? We need goals from everywhere this season though: midfield open play, set pieces, especially corners (did we score from a corner last season?). Hopefully we may see another attacking/ creative midfielder and one or two more forwards arrive yet.
  14. We are bang average with little threat. Serious work and at least 3-4 real quality signings needed to avoid another relegation scrap. Even without losing Vlaar, Delph, Cleverly and Benteke, we needed about 4 real quality signings. WTF are we doing?
  15. Thank God they've gone! Let's give the boy a chance? Why the anger??
  16. Like the sound of this one. More signings to come too. Happy days
  17. Plenty on Twitter suggesting Darder in by Tuesday. The flip side is in the same breath, so is Adebayor
  18. If it's true, we must be prepared to spend a fortune in total this window. Perhaps we will, not much time left.
  19. £8m was what we paid for Delph, so he could have walked away for nothing when we had supported him through injury until he came good. His gesture was to not walk for nothing but allow the club to at least recoup his fee while not putting off serious clubs where he could better himself. In fairness this would have cost Delph a substantial sum in signing on fees if he could have walked into a club for no transfer fee. Thats pretty stand-up & honourable in my book.
  20. Ooooh! So we find gems, train them up for a season or 2 and sell to the bigger clubs. Great move Tom. Its better than spending less than £10m a season, squandering what little money we have on several championship (or lower) level players hoping they come good but in reality never play, and letting the good players we have run down their contracts and leaving for free. Thats hardly worked out for us has it?
  21. John, it's futile, he can't hear you, let it go. We will be ok. Let's just pray that they fail, then we can all feel a little better.
  22. Fox is OK. You won't like it but we are £8m better off than if Delph had walked out on the club. I think Delph was honourable in a crazy football mercenary way, and deep down don't blame him. His only crime was opening his mouth when he should have said nothing. If the football club was a better prospect and not run into the ground, Delph and Tekkers would still be here. Stan is an outspoken fool at times, he wears his heart on his sleeve but means well. He's got this one wrong.
  23. Come the close of the window we will look at the squad including the inevitable signings and I am sure we will have hope and will feel better. Lerner has no choice but spend and the wage bill is down, but most of all with Fox, Sherwood and this new German fella, I am sure they will sort this out. I reckon £70m could be spent
