  1. 1. I don’t see the point in giving Gerrard any more money to spend. The only signing I would sanction would be for a backup CB. 2. Why would anyone of quality currently sign for us, knowing that the manager might be gone in a few weeks. What a mess.
  2. I don’t want much really, just someone who can coach - someone who likes working with players to make them better. Potter would be my number 1 choice, but whether we could convince him to move only a few games into the season is questionable.
  3. Looking like we’ll lose 3 out of 4 winnable games. No where near good enough. Not like we’ve been unlucky either. We’re actually worse with a pre season. Can we get a proper manager please.
  4. I’m not sure about that. We’d be thrilled with a top half finish.
  5. The definition of insanity - doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. Sigh.
  6. Even if they did sack him on Monday, there’s no way they would act quick enough to bring in a replacement before the window closed. I do wonder if they are holding some cash back possibly with one eye on a new manager in January because let’s face it, they can’t be impressed with what they’ve seen from Gerrard so far.

    The NSWE Board

We need to see a ruthlessness from NSWE. It’s clearly not working. If they genuinely want us to challenge the top 6, then Gerrard clearly isn’t the man. Need to do what Spurs did with Nuno last season and pull the trigger.
  8. It’s just got an air of inevitability about it now. We all know he’ll be gone within a few weeks. The whole place stinks right now. The next appointment is vital.
  9. Agree, everything is in place except for a quality coach. The board have shown that they are willing to push FFP as far as possible to improve the team. It will be a great job for somebody.
  10. Potter left Swansea after 1 season (IIRC) to join Brighton, so he has shown that he’s willing to be ruthless to progress his career. Whether he would see us as a big enough jump (in terms of club size) is another matter.
  11. I think most people would be happy to give Potter a couple of seasons as long as there are signs of improvement and signs of a playing style. Gerrard has been here for 10 months, pretty much signed who he wanted and we’ve not improved a single bit.
  12. Maybe we could tempt Rodgers from Leicester? They seem to have ran out of cash, and don’t seem to have the same ambition as when he first arrived.
  13. Think I’d be tempted to put any more incomings on hold and save some cash for the new manager in January.
  14. If he’s struggling to make much of an impact for us, I really can’t see how he can expect to go and get into a Barcelona side. I’m struggling to see how this makes sense for his career.
  15. The reliable @Villa_1_8_7_4 has retweeted this…
  16. I can’t say that I’ve seen much of him, but the fact that we’ve seemingly beaten off some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the fact that he’s turning his back on Champions League football has me very excited!
  17. If we sell Targett in the summer we will still need another LB anyway. Hickey could be perfect because he can play both sides and probably won’t expect to start every game.
  18. I think the move is complicated by the fact that he wants to stay at Leeds. Seems like JWP and ESR part three.
  19. Could do with Forest being promoted. We could probably squeeze them for £15m.
  20. I’m not sure if this is old news or not, but The Secret Scout have said that we’ve ‘raided’ West Brom’s academy for Luka Lynch and Triston Rowe. They’ve also lost 3 others players to Chelsea and Arsenal.
  21. I think his position needs looking at. He doesn’t have a plan for this club, he just wants to showboat with big name signings without any considered thought about any of them. I’ve also go no idea what Johan Lange brings to the table. The January signings were all Gerrard’s. Gerrard’s appointment was all Purslow. What is the point of having a director of football if you don’t let him choose the manager and/or the signings?
  22. He’s so good. His passes are perfectly weighted and timed. A genuine top class player.
  23. I see no benefit to loaning him to Newcastle unless they are paying a massive (£5m ish) loan fee. If they stay up then they’ll be shopping in a much higher market, if they go down he might not want to play in The Championship again.
  24. If he’s a no go in the summer, then he was always a no go in January in my opinion. Literally no point in him joining us now if he wants a top 4 club. He can just wait for 6 months.
