  1. I’m not actually bothered about losing out on Wilson, but it bothers me that we’ve wasted time on someone that never really wanted to join anyway.
  2. I wonder who is next on our list...surely a bit of due diligence would have told us not to bother wasting our time on Wilson?
  3. Sounds like we’re getting desperate. I know we didn’t know which division we would be in until 5 weeks ago, but what happened to Purslow planning for both scenarios? I’m starting to think that Dean Smith hasn’t got much pulling power.
  4. I can't think of a single time we've announced a signing on a weekend...
  5. Same, I was a bit ‘meh’ at £10m for Wilson. There’s no way I’d pay £20m for him. A proper Bruce signing.
  6. Might not be Villa related, but I do remember someone on here mentioning that we were trying to sign Martinez from Arsenal a few weeks back...
  7. It seems that we’re struggling to land transfer targets (no pun intended!) as it is, I doubt we want to add a left back to our list too.
  8. I’ve heard a lot of people say this, but I’ve always seen him as pretty reliable. I always remember that he was the one that broke the John Terry to Villa story. He is Scottish too so he’ll have contacts north of the border.
  9. Is it correct that money spent on the academy/signing youth players doesn’t count towards FFP? If so, we can spend whatever it takes to bring the best young players to the club. Can’t wait to see what our academy produces in the next couple of years.
  10. Not sure if it’s just me, but I read that as he wants to play in Europe (internationally) so Villa isn’t an option (not an issue).
  11. He’s flying somewhere, not necessarily England.
  12. Yeah, we were linked a few weeks ago, he’s very highly rated by all accounts.
  13. Just spotted this on Twitter from a Feyenoord youth team account: Hearing that Feyenoord Academy's Lamare Bogarde (16) is close to a transfer to Premier League side Aston Villa. 🗣 He skipped the first weeks of training with Feyenoord U18.
  14. I’m really excited by what we are doing with the academy, it’s just a shame that we won’t see the benefits for 4/5 years.
  15. They lost 3-1 at Bournemouth earlier on this season.
  16. Man City might want him back, but Douglas has a say in this too. If he rejects the move, which isn’t entirely unrealistic, then he doesn’t go. Is he going to risk going to City to most likely sit on the bench, just as he has become a fixture in our team?
  17. If we perform like that for the last 3 games, then whether we go down or not, it would give me some hope that Smith can turn it around.
  18. Let’s hope the owners have a plan for the summer, and it is executed quickly. Not saying Smith is a complete dud, but Wolves’ current owners made a couple of terrible appointments before finding Nuno (with the help of Mendes no doubt).
  19. Smith said after the Liverpool and Man Utd games that realistically we didn’t expect to get anything. And that is the problem, and probably explains our terrible record against the top 10. He seems to have the same mentality that he had at Walsall. We’re not plucky Villa punching above our weight. We SHOULD be competing with the top 10 teams, we spent £140m this season. That is probably the reason that I want him to be replaced because we’ll be back in this position again IF Smith manages to get us promoted again.
  20. I think we need to presume that Watford will beat one of Newcastle or West Ham. Therefore we need 3 wins out of the last 5. We MUST beat Crystal Palace, end of. Realistically we’ve got to beat either Man Utd or Arsenal at home. That leaves us needing to beat either Everton or West Ham away (or both if we fail to beat Man Utd or Arsenal). It’s very tough, but not impossible. Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace don’t have anything left to play for.
  21. Interesting that it says for the final 6 games. Hardly a massive show of support in the long term.
  22. We won’t and wouldn’t need to spend anything like £90m to get a promotion winning team. No other team in Championship history has needed to spend that sort of money to win promotion. Solid buys and loans with good coaching is what we would need.
