    I just want us to win a trophy. Any trophy. The Conference League gives us the best chance to do that. It’s been far too long and maybe we could use it as a stepping stone to bigger things. Also I don’t think The Conference League would be as disruptive to our league campaign because you could get away with resting players until the latter stages.

    This seems like a terrible rule. If she goes to Man Utd we get no compensation, so a complete waste of time developing her.

    Some interesting quotes from the Vitoria president. Says that Vitoria will sign young Egyptian, Senegalese and South American players with the view to them moving to Villa if they’re good enough. Says it will benefit Vitoria because they wouldn’t get these players otherwise, and it benefits Villa because we get first option on all of their players.

    It was Emery’s decision to sell Ings, so I’m sure he won’t complain about the bench today.

    I imagine that Emery will have a look at him for the next 2 weeks, then another loan will be sorted at the end of the window.

    Do we need a left back? We only signed Digne 12 months ago for £20m+. We can’t keep stockpiling players.

    We need some Unai content! No sit down interview when the team were away training. Seems like we haven’t heard from him in ages. I guess it’ll be the Liverpool press conference tomorrow?

    It was always a stupid move for his career. At best he’s going to be loaned out consistently. If it was a football decision then he would have stayed here imho.

    I do get the sense that Emery will actually give some of these youngsters a chance if they are good enough, which will hopefully stop another Carney situation (although it’s quite clear he didn’t go to Chelsea for first team football!).
