This is a massive coup by the club. We’re talking about one of Europe’s best managers. You don’t win 4 Europa League titles by fluke. Hopefully our long drought will be coming to an end soon.
-
Well at least this performance will give NSWE some breathing space. They won’t need to rush an appointment before the World Cup now.
-
Edit. Wrong thread.
-
I’m 99% sure it’s BS, but it’s got my hopes up again…I guess we’ll hear something soon if there’s any truth to it.
-
If this is true then we might see an interim until the summer. He's already stated (through reporters) that he wants to see out the season with Sporting.
-
Nas really was angry, wasn’t he.

Happy tears gif

Tom Collomosse has been very well informed at Villa in the past couple of years. Looks like we’ll be going big…
-
Absolutely useless. No idea what he actually gets paid for.
-
We’re only 2 wins from the top half. I think it’s an easy job for someone. Our squad is nowhere near as bad as our league position suggests imo.
-
They have done so much good since joining, but right now we look a complete mess. How can we be this bad after the investment they have put in? I think they seriously need to look at Lange and Purslow, and the complete mess they’ve made of things in the last 18 months.
-
There is literally no reason to keep him any longer. I don’t care if we fluke a 1-0 win tonight. This is just dreadful. We look like 11 strangers. Just sack him and hopefully we might get a caretaker bounce.
-
I’m presuming that this info has come from Villa (purely because it mentions Tuchel and Emery too). Why would Villa randomly release this info if it was no more than a punt? It gets everyone’s hopes up, and if it fails, everyone is underwhelmed with whoever they appoint. I reckon this could be further down the line than it suggests in the report.
-
I think apathy has set in.
-
The Fulham game is huge. The board have to decide if we’d be better off giving it to Gerrard or Critchley as caretaker.
-
This is probably worst case scenario. We’ve played well, and we’re losing. I can’t see them sacking him after this performance, but then again we’re down to 17th now…
-
I’m still hopeful that someone with some coaching ability can still get a tune out of him. He was class less than 12 months ago. Not a single player has improved under Gerrard's ‘coaching’.

Absolutely everything is riding on the Southampton game for Gerrard. I can’t see the board not acting if we go into the international break on the back of a home defeat to Southampton, following the already dreadful start to the season.
-
Just seen a few tweets saying that the Villa Trust AGM on 8th September has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Either Purslow is having a busy week or he’s bottled it.
-
I guess that they’re hoping he can be convinced to stay with a different manager.
-
If he wants to leave then the sensible thing to do would be to sell him now. He’s not starting all games anyway, and he’s not going to contribute much if he’s unhappy. Put the money towards the Gerrard sacking fund.
-
Going back in for Sarr would be the clearest indication that Gerrard is on his way out. Sarr has (supposedly) been a club target for a while now and it was widely reported last week that it was Gerrard's decision not to sign him...

1. I don’t see the point in giving Gerrard any more money to spend. The only signing I would sanction would be for a backup CB. 2. Why would anyone of quality currently sign for us, knowing that the manager might be gone in a few weeks. What a mess.

I don’t want much really, just someone who can coach - someone who likes working with players to make them better. Potter would be my number 1 choice, but whether we could convince him to move only a few games into the season is questionable.

Looking like we’ll lose 3 out of 4 winnable games. No where near good enough. Not like we’ve been unlucky either. We’re actually worse with a pre season. Can we get a proper manager please.
