  1. We’re never going to have a team full of academy players. If you can get a first team player every 18 to 24 months then the academy has done its job. Most players will know how hard to make it as a professional footballer. We will attract more top youngsters if we keep producing players for Premier League and Championship teams.
  2. I like it. Not looking too desperate. Bet they can’t wait to accept a bid really.
  3. I guess we’re waiting until we’ve played Burnley. We’d look a bit stupid if he scored on his debut against us.
  4. He has to be signed by 12pm to be available for Sunday. But even if we announce it after 12pm, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t registered before 12.
  5. We need to be realistic here. Our 2 first choice left sided midfielders (Ramsey and Buendia) are both injured. Ramsey should be back in about a month. We’re not spunking £30m+ on someone that will most likely be for cover. A loan with an option to buy is as near risk free as we’re going to find.
  6. It’s such a shame that he can’t be eased in gently now. The same as Moreno back when he was thrown in early for his debut when Digne limped off after about 15 minutes. I doubt there’s another team with such bad luck with injuries.
  7. £12m seems very low. The only reason I can see for this is that the buyback clause is pretty low too (£20m?). Seems a bizarre transfer unless we are very close to FFP limits.
  8. We’re close to agreeing a deal for Aaron Ramsey to join Burnley according to Alan Nixon. I don’t pay for his patron, so not sure if it’s a permanent or a loan. I really hope it’s a loan. So it’s a £12m permanent with a buy back apparently.
  9. On loan with an option to buy would be ok I guess. Emery must see something in him.
  10. We’ve got a much better negotiator on the case this time.
  11. I can’t imagine that Nakamba is on massive money (£40k per week would be my best guess). If they aren’t willing to do that for someone that was instrumental in getting them a £150m+ windfall, then they deserve to go back down again. The fee won’t be big (£4m-£5m) either.
  12. If it’s going to take 2 years then 6 weeks doesn’t really matter that much.

    Tyler Adams

He looked good at the World Cup from what I remember. With Emery coaching him he could only improve.
  14. I guess we’d get £3m-£4m plus a sell on clause.
  15. Great start to the window. A top class central midfielder for free. I know he lost his way last season, but Emery likes a ‘project’.
  16. I guess we can start a thread now…
  17. Emery does have a history of taking under performing players and making them better. He doesn’t usually sign the finished articles.
  18. I’d trust Unai to improve any player. If Unai wants him, that’s enough for me.
  19. Osasuna have won and finished 7th. That’s good for us, right?
  20. Slightly off topic, but buying clubs will know the Chelsea are desperate to raise funds. Might be one or two bargains to be had if clubs don’t rush in.
