  1. Another cracking performance yesterday. He’s developing nicely into a terrific young player.
  2. It was a poor error for the second goal, but bad passes happen. For me, his error on the third goal was probably worse as it was bad defending - you don’t get beaten there, but I wonder if he was mindful of already being on a yellow as he seemed to pull out of making a challenge. I put it down to a bad day at the office, for me his positives still outweigh the negatives.
  3. Big 4 0 today, 3 points with a slightly depleted squad would be the best present from Dean and the boys! Got a good feeling about today! Come on the Villa!!
  4. So fifa have caved and are allowing the South American players to be available for selection for this weekend’s fixtures. What a joke!
  5. Perhaps to keep Chelsea guessing?
  6. There’s going to be some disappointed people!
  7. Hope he carries on his form from Brentford, I have a feeling he will be starting tomorrow.
  8. I know what you’re saying! It’s all a bit of a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy, but the source has had quite a lot of stuff right recently. He called all the missing players for the Brentford game, it’s coming from the club.
  9. It was Pete from the Holy Trinity that posted about the rumour in the early hours last Saturday. Someone asked him earlier about it and he said he usually gets updates on Fridays.
  10. My take on the rumour that it was more of a niggly hernia that requires surgery when the opportunity arises, rather than he is out of action because of the hernia. If that makes sense?
  11. I feel like DS has enough trust in Tuanzebe’s ability that he would only play Konsa if he is indeed fit. I am very relieved that it’s not a bad injury, the ones where you are caught when off balance like he was can often be the nastiest when it comes to knee injuries.
  12. I hope Dean doesn’t gamble on his fitness Saturday, for me he’s 100% or he doesn’t start. We don’t need to risk him against Chelsea, we need him for Everton the following week and I would hate for him to tweak his hamstring in a game we are unlikely to get much from and end up missing more games.
  13. Come the end of the season, IF Mings was to miss a spell of games with injury let’s say and Konsa proved to be a leader of our defence in his absence, then I would possibly be open to selling Mings if replaced by a ‘better’ defender. Unfortunately I think a big part of the reason why Konsa is so good for us is that Mings affords him to be able to concentrate on his own game, he may not be as good without Mings next to him. In that case, a replacement for Mings with similar leadership qualities is likely to be experienced which would likely be of a similar age to what Mings is now anyway. I think young, natural leader type defenders are like gold dust. I understand your general point that we don’t want to have aging players on big money, with little or no resale value, but I think sometimes you have to take each case on it’s own merit, and also for me Mings has still got at least another 2-3 years at his current level.
  14. I was making fun of another poster with the last comment on my post.
  15. One year ago today that he signed. My favourite player easily, seems a great lad and love his work rate. And also love the fact that he NEVER gets injured.
  16. Maguire is a better player than Mings, not ‘miles’ better but a better player nonetheless. That’s not meant as a slight on Tyrone, he’s a hell of a leader for us and has generally done well in an England shirt apart from the 2 pre-Euros friendly games. I find the constant slagging off of Maguire very unfair, it’s not just Villa fans though.
  17. Yeah but we would’ve shown them who was boss, which is really important to do, especially in this day and age. It’s not like today’s footballers would take it badly surely?….
  18. So what you’re saying is that they would miss the Chelsea game regardless? Funny that. But we should’ve showed them who’s boss, pissed them off and not have them allowed to play anyway.
  19. It’s a shame we couldn’t have kept hold of JG for 1 more year, I feel like we would’ve been in a better negotiating position for potential brands and sponsors. I’m sure we will get the best deal that we can though.
  20. I’m not so sure he’s out, but has a hernia which will require an op to fix. That was how I took the rumour anyway. Hope the boot is just precautionary for JPB
  21. That’s worrying, especially if there is some truth in Oblak being reluctant to sign a new deal in Madrid.
  22. Mings key attribute in our team is his leadership, I underestimated just how important it was to us when he was out last season. We don’t need to think about selling him just yet, there’s enough clubs in that league who would gladly take him off our hands for a decent fee I think.
