  1. That’s not really what I said though was it.
  2. I’m sorry but I hate this chip on our shoulder that we get about the media/other clubs supporters and how they view our manager or players. Let’s be honest as soon as it becomes widely recognised that we’ve got a top person within our ranks, it doesn’t usually end well. As long as we know how good they are, and they’re doing the business for us then it’s all that matters surely?
  3. Got to be the most improved player so far this season? Some of his crosses have been absolutely sublime, totally revelling in this RWB role.
  4. I’m just so happy as a Villa fan right now. We have a likeable, competitive, hard working team, but we have quality also. Pretty reflective of their manager I think.
  5. Beautiful Dean, this was no backs to the wall 1-0 win. We now go into these games with a plan, this is not lucky.
  6. Exactly mate, he ticks all the boxes that Southgate likes. I’m enjoying watching him develop nicely for us, he’s going to be a top player.
  7. I’m glad that Southgate hasn’t picked him, but I must say it does surprise me that such a calm defender like Ezri hasn’t been given an opportunity at international level. I guess it’s to our benefit that he hasn’t.
  8. I thought I could hear a beeping noise in the background of that interview, he’s such a trooper.
  9. It’s one year since his Bristol City goal, after watching the guy over the last year I think he meant that 100%!
  10. I heard they were dislocated shin splints of the quad, he might actually die.
  11. Good news, unfortunate for Nakamba who I think would’ve definitely took his place tomorrow.
  12. Do you guys stand to make any more cash regarding Ollie playing for England or was it just on the first cap?
  13. To be fair mate, I’d rather the club do what is best for the club. As far as adjusting, teams will generally work on team shape etc in training the day/s before a match. If it even gives us a 1% advantage by keeping quiet about an injury then it’s the right thing to do IMO.
  14. I’d highly doubt he’s ruptured his quad. I’m no doctor, but have torn a quad before and there’s no way he walks off that pitch unaided last Saturday with a ruptured quad.
  15. It’s funny but this is the exact point I made to my dad this morning. He’s not spectacular or controlling games, but he’s gone from a 3/10 on the ball to a 5/10 or 6/10 on the ball and he almost looks like a new player.
  16. It makes me really angry, guy has a monster of a game and feels the need to have to apologise for his penalty being saved. Absolutely fantastic last night!
  17. Only 3 years? In a lot of ways it feels like a lifetime ago!
  18. Oh the irony. He’s only going by your skewed measure of success.
  19. Success means “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose” I understand that you might have got it’s meaning slightly wrong, but you cannot deny that we have been relatively successful in a realistic sense.
  20. I genuinely lol’d for about a minute reading that!
  21. The problem I have is not just in the manager thread, but other threads in general when it comes to negativity about our players. Maybe it’s because I’m 40 now and I’ve become a father in the last couple of years, but I see so much negativity everywhere. I love Aston Villa and I find that they bring me a lot of joy, even more since I decided to just get behind the team. I used to spend the whole time watching them cussing every missed pass, every missed tackle, but I try to just enjoy it all now. It’s not that there is anything wrong with constructive criticism, or pointing out that a player had a poor game or made a mistake, but it’s the OTT, vitriolic stuff which just blows my mind. I read a lads Twitter feed the other day and counted 94 consecutive tweets about Villa, all negative, another guy had over 60 consecutively negative tweets about us, It’s a similar story on here with certain really negative posters. Im starting to think that maybe this forum isn’t for me anymore, maybe I am a happy clapper but I would just rather be positive about the club. In the last 5 years we’ve had championship football, and almost no football! I’m just trying to enjoy the ride now, wherever it goes.
  22. This. I don’t think he’s perfect, and I’m sure neither do any of the other posters who generally post positively about our manager. We have moved forward as a team every season, and it looks like this season could be yet another forward step but let’s keep it balanced for the posters who will always find something to moan about.
