  1. Completely agree mate. Dean will always have a special place in my heart as a supporter of our great club, but we just feel like a different outfit now under Gerrard - both on and off the pitch. Such exciting times to be a fan of Aston Villa!
  2. I just get the impression that there is a BIG change of culture around the football club.
  3. I’ve got to be honest, I’m in this camp. The guy is fantastic, and knows the league. We sign him, we’re in with a great shout of getting top 6 next season.
  4. According to Simon Dobson on Twitter (a football journalist with 33.4K followers) “Bissouma is Aston Villa’s number one target after Digne. Gerrard wants him as soon as possible and believes he would improve the team massively. Brighton convinced he isn’t leaving but every player has a price.”
  5. We’re trying to improve our global profile mate, it’s quite a coup really as I would’ve expected him to link up with his old mate Van Der Beek at Old Trafford.
  6. Is it possible that our interest has distracted him, and they feel he isn’t 100%? I appreciate there is a certain amount of putting 2+2 together in that theory, mainly out of optimism. If we can get Bissouma and a CB on loan to cover Axel’s departure then this will have been an outstanding window, well on paper at least!
  7. I still feel very angry this morning, It’s like the sensible part of me knows there isn’t a bias, but it certainly feels like a bias. Michael Oliver was 3 yards away from the ‘foul’, completely unobstructed but didn’t see anything at the time. It just feels like there was a determination to disallow the goal….Can we give offside against Konsa? No, What about Ings? No he’s not offside either, but can we give a handball against Ings? No he’s not handled it. S***, what are we going to do now? Ah, we can give a foul against a player who hasn’t moved. Panic over, thank god for that! You just feel like this would never have happened the other way around, and you also feel like if Konsa had caught Shaw in the face like that with United 1-0 down, then the incident would’ve at the very least been scrutinised, and possibly resulted in a penalty.
  8. Gutted for him tbh. His confidence looks absolutely shot. I’m pleased for the team that we’re signing Digne, but I take no pleasure in how things have worked out for Matty Targett.
  9. Reading their forum, I want him now just for the amount of boiling p*** it would create!!
  10. Does anybody else get the vibe that Brighton have gone ‘public’ with this to try and get a bidding war on the go? As for Bissouma himself, I think he is a terrific player and one that would make a massive difference to our side. Almost the missing piece of the puzzle.
  11. I hope Kidderminster get an away draw against us/United. That’s a win/win for them!
  12. Not sure how I feel about him being recalled, he seems like the only one of our youngsters doing well out on loan. I hope it’s so SG and the coaching staff can have a look at him before he goes out on loan again at the end of the month, ideally Championship or a top L1 side.
  13. It’s a big gamble isn’t it, it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Personally I don’t think he’s going to see as as enough of a step up currently, but I guess that’s down to the club to sell ourselves and show how ambitious we are. That is if we are actually interested of course!
  14. I know what you’re saying Peter, but I just don’t feel that Brighton are in a position that they would need to entertain that sort of deal for Bissouma.
  15. The problem with that Paul is you then ask the question “What is in it for Brighton?” Would we loan a PL rival one of, if not our best player/s just so they had the option to send him back if it didn’t work out for them? I understand where you’re coming from, but I just don’t think Brighton would go for anything like that. It’s going to take a big offer to get Brighton interested imo, I think they can wait until the summer before panicking about getting something for him assuming he is not going to sign a new deal.
  16. I agree that a decent Championship loan is probably his best option, whether that is season long or just from Xmas. Either way I’m sure we will have a good look at him in preseason. Tbh the thing that impressed me the most with him last night was how solid he looked defensively, he looks like he’s got all the tools to be one hell of a RB.
  17. Possibly Saracens? They pay big wages.
  18. I think a lot of it comes down to the team he plays for, and his role in that team. He hasn’t shown that he could be prolific, that may obviously change but if for arguments sake it doesn’t, it’s whether those other attributes will get him a start for a team? I’m genuinely hopeful that he can start finding a taste for goals on this loan, if he can be at a level where he can score 12-15 goals per season in the championship, with his other attributes added in then you’re talking a big player at that level. I think he is only ever going to be a sub at Villa, his only starts will be cup matches.
  19. Good luck Keinan, go and play some games and hopefully stay fit.
  20. I’m optimistic that we don’t have to spend money on a new RB, or not a long term one anyway, as I hope our long term RB is currently on loan to Swindon Town
  21. Has there been any links with either of these players?
  22. I thought he was class against City, and has generally looked much better when played in the centre on his own, but I appreciate he hasn’t hit the heights of last season.
