Imagine working for a company for 10 years and always seeing someone new get the promotion and the job you wanted... About this time last year... We were struggling and I started to doubt Smiths experience at this level, was thinking the owners should pull the trigger and get someone else in who could get us in out of the relegation dogfight we found ourselves in... With 20/20 hindsight? I’m glad the board had more faith in me... What a turnaround in fortunes Dean Smith has engineered for this club, alongside the chairmen who saved us from oblivion... I’m sorry for losing faith Deano! You’ve given me more to cheer about as a Villa fan in the past 2 years than I’ve had to cheer about in the past 2 decades!

It’s refreshing to not see us play like that every game! (Edit: meaning not to be hoofing the ball up the pitch for the opposition to immediately take possession) Villa actually play football now... It’s exciting to be a Villa fan again where as for the best part of the last 10 years? Its been quite painful

I like to see all Midlands clubs do well.. Obviously, I want to see Villa win local derbies... and with a derby comes a rivalry of sorts... There is only one club I truly hate, and thats Spurs... I hate their chairman, I hate their fans, I hate their self-pitying "why doesnt everyone want to see us do well" Liverpool--of-London thing they have going on... I'd love to see every Midlands team in the Premier League... Blues, Coventry, West Brom, Walsall, Tamworth, Kidderminster Harriers... The lot... But Spurs can **** off!

Exactly... East Midlanders don't even sound like Midlanders... They have ridiculous accents like other Northern types... Not like the normal, coherent and eloquent Brummie accent

So happy we have him and he is finally being given the platform to show everyone how consistently good he is... He has taken his opportunity with both hands and is winning points for us... If he carries on like this, I'd be happy for him to stay with us until he decides to hang up his boots

Hopefully Deano has some transfer targets and a bit of spending money available for the transfer window. We definitely need more depth at LB, CB and LM and CM... Referee was dogshit... Allowed West Ham to kick us all over the park and appeared to leave his cards in the glove box in the car... We can't be having our record striker missing the target from the penalty spot and we need to improve in January with some more depth in midfield because, shamefully, we are going to have a rough ride without Barkley as he at least bullies the opposition... McGinn was anonymous, Watkins has a lot to answer for and Trez was playing like he had just got off the plane from Turkey when he first arrived... Terribly disappointing result... Oh... and VAR can **** off n'all

He is out of his depth at this level I think... but he has done something not a lot of people have done and scored goals at every level of the English football league and earned his way up... He does need improving on but when he does go? I personally will remember him and his contributions to the team fondly

We was starting to look the part until Ben Mee committed assault... He will struggle to get ahead of Watkins - thats a given - but I reckon there is a player in there worth a run around... Luiz came through eventually after getting used to the way Smith wanted him to play... Just took some time... Unfortunately, Wes got clattered by a career-ruining sociopath

Barcelona never saw anything special in RHM though... The fact that a world heavyweight side saw something in the kid worth signing gives this kid some credibility over a youngster who came through our youth system in one of the worst periods in our clubs recent history
