Agree, take him with a pinch of salt. The bigger picture is if the PL thought they could get away with a token we support the ref comment they are wrong. The media have picked this up as it highlights the inadequaties of VAR and it use to support referees in correct decision making, not support them no matter what. Is Mr Friend that insecure that he can't admit he got it wrong?

For me Hutton always wore his heart on his sleeve and I respect that. I liked what I've seen of Guilbert so far, and will only get better with more games under his belt.

THought him coming of the bench was a good move by Smith. He's been struggling with the pace and physicality of the PL, but coming on when the sting was out of the game allowed him to show what he can do. Should give him confidence, but think he may be better as this type of player.

He was a monster tonight, really happy for him. He got under Mina's skin and turned him inside out a couple of times.

I understand the point people are trying to make, and a few weeks ago probably would have agreed, but seeing some of the comments by pundits, media etc, it could have been Doncaster who was promoted (no disrespect). While their is respect for the club, 3 years out of the league and the comments have been it will be tough for Villa to survive, we spent money we'll do a Fulham, even Purslow was having to explain the clubs position on Sky Sports and very little respect has been shown. Even a couple of self professed pundits have said, if you don't remember who Villa are...? Are you kidding?? And I don't believe the players nor coaches would buy into this a bigger game analogy. It's eleven players against eleven players. We are a newly promoted club and we have to earn the respect of opposition teams and fans all over again. For 70 min we held Spurs and if we had a little more smarts we walk away with a point, we dropped 3 points against Bournemouth due to errors. I look at it as we dropped 4 points due to errors from our own players and IMO that's how the coaching staff are looking at the performances so far as well.

If he starts on a Friday, It will be interesting to see how he performs against Everton as he will be under a lot more pressure than the second half against Bournemouth on the weekend, who appeared to be happy to sit on their 0-2 lead. Looks a very good player, but still needs time to adapt to the league and Everton will be a different challenge.

We just need to be patient and back the manager and players it will happen. I said from day one it will take 6-8 games to bed the squad in, and there's been enough shown that we aren't that far away. We probably dropped three points today from a poor start, not through Bournemouth's great play, but silly errors. Ita frustrating but patience is needed.

He came on when we were under the pump, I thought I saw glimpses of a very good player, but he will need time to adapt.

I think Grealish was trying to play out from the back rather than hoofing it and being straight back under pressure. We stopped pressing their midfielders in the second half as we ran out of steam. Grealish was good.

I think Smith wanted experience on the pitch against Spurs and was willing to trade off young legs. We needed an experienced team on the pitch and for 70 minutes looked to be a master stroke. The team will get better every game, by Xmas I expect Targett and Guilbert will be starting, they just need to be brought along slowly. Theres a very good team in the making there and it was always going to take 10-12 games to have those new players understanding the system. Most of that Spurs team has been together for 3-5 seasons, Grealish is the only player we have left from our relegation year. Patience.

There's definitely a player in there, just thought he was a little naive and petulant at times. Considering the opposition thought he did ok, and the coaching staff will have him working on those little issues.

I thought we were ok for 60min,-then fatigue set in. It was noticeable with the Liverpool and Man City games as well, the speed and intensity of play for 90min. We didn't have that gear when Spurs went up, we fatigued quickly and made numerous errors with the ball in possession. Wesley needs to grow up quickly and play like a man, I thought Trezeguet was good and will get better, Jota concerns me. The rest of the team put a shift in, we need to keep improving and we should be ok.

It's easy for commentators who are paid to have an opinion to make lazy comments. Villa may not of had automatic promotion last season, but they were the in form team at the end, and I'd have a nice wager we could have beaten the bottom 5-6 teams in the PL. Our midfield is basically the same and been upgraded. We have a new striker, but a striker with CL experience. The defence has been upgraded and we've signed a PL experienced quality GK. 20 years ago Man City were in the old 3rd division, they are only where they are now because of ridiculous investment prior to FFP rules. Villa spends £130m and we're doing a Fulham, when closer inspection will show most clubs who spent money over the past decade stayed up, Fulham was the odd example. The real question should be why did Fulham fail?

The owners and Purslow have talked about setting the club up long term, so in a stadium sense, I guess we need to know what that actually means? To be competitive and generate income long term that means at least a 70,000 seater just to catch up to the top clubs. Currently Villa would have no chance of filling that type of stadium regularly, so does it need to be more of an organic development over the next 5-10 years? I believe it will be the latter, but the club has to be successful which will drive increased crowds, which will trigger development of the ground to meet the demand.

It won't be Werner. Didn't the rumour come from Dan one of the Villa View guys? I don't disregard that he'd heard something, but always thought Kodija would be the back up for Wesley. Maybe there's an iron in the fire for something different up front, but if Maupay would of thought the deal to be done by now.

What was it 7 goals in his first 3-4 games? Very intelligent player.
