  1. Worth noting the havoc the heat is causing in the Australian Open at the moment. Similar temperatures to the summer temperatures in Qatar last year.
  2. This is what I'm wondering. Everyone wants him but I'm failing to see why. Porto and their fans certainly don't seem to rate him at all. I'd wager 95% of people here haven't actually seen him play. But he's a foreign name at a big club and has been rated in the past so people want him. Don't get me wrong, I haven't seen him either so he might be a great signing! But nobody even seems sure what position he plays so I doubt many of us actually know how he'd work out for us.
  3. the next gen thread really was the worst example Was that the thread where the acadamy director said the same things I did a day later. We've been over this before, the fact you were right is completely irrelevant to why people were annoyed at you in that topic.
  4. Of the players I've seen regularly at the Villa (i.e. no tbefore my time), I'd probably say Yorke. Controversially I think Bent would be up there.
  5. Also, they appear to have given me £1 credit as a result of that purchase, so £9.60
  6. Brilliant! Gangster films are on of those things that I do enjoy, but I actually rarely watch them if that makes sense. So out of the films in that box set, I've only seen American Gangster. So £10.60 well spent! cheers
  7. Gone for green beans with lemon and garlic to accompany my peri peri and sweet potato later Never actually cooked green beans before but sounds easy enough
  8. He'll probably do a Robbie Keane, and be average on his debut, which will fool people into thinking it's a terrible piece of business, before being perfectly decent for the rest of the season. Blind speculation is fun
  9. Yeah, I was joking That would be awesome though.
  10. A brain? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA HA HA ha ha haaaaaa Sorry
  11. Meh, there can be garlic. There'll be extra hot peri peri sauce so garlic will be no bother.
  12. Hasn't he got the most assists in the whole squad since he joined? Got to hand it to you though, turning good passing into a negative is pretty special. He's got 1 assist all season! And 6 last season apparently. So 7 since he joined. More than anyone else. Not bad for someone who does "not show any responsibility at all for creating chances". But yeah, I'm sure he only passes the ball because he doesn't want any responsibility. That really is one of the most bizarre criticisms I've ever seen levelled at one of our players.
  13. Not bad, I was considering coleslaw as well but again thought it was a bit bland, but that salad would be a nice substitute. Although I would, of course, not be putting Onions in it.
  14. Cooking folks I'm cooking for the missus tomorrow night. Going to cook peri peri chicken and sweet potato mash. but need something else to accompany it. Any suggestions? I'd usually have broccoli and sweetcorn, but that's a bit boring. Have considered asparagus or green beans...

Lovely assist for their second goal too. Absolutely skins a guy in the build up
  16. Haven't played it, but have a mate who got it for his birthday, and absolutely loves it. I'll be looking for a game of it at the earliest opportunity
  17. Haha I think I've already seen that. To be fair, up until the end of Season 4 my thoughts were "Yeah this show is brilliant, but the people who have said it's up there with the Wire and the Sopranos are off their rocker" But it felt as if the first 4 seasons only existed to get to season 5, if that makes sense. Season 5 was magnificent and did put it into that bracket of elite shows, for me anyway.
  18. I spent my lunch reading this thread. (I'm not going to spoiler tag anything as most people didn't since it finished, so just a warning for anyone who's reading who hasn't seen it) Kind of wish I'd watched BB when the rest of you did so I could have talked about it. But on the other hand some of you guys got really close to how the show panned out so I'm also glad I managed to form my own opinion as I spent most of it truly not knowing what was going to happen. (Although, my gf spoiled one part for me. She told me Hank found out. Which it was pretty logical would happen anyway so not too bad. Plus I found out before I even started S1E1 that Walt dies at the end. But again I think that was pretty obvious given the cancer.) Awesome show. Truly awesome. To contribute to some of the other points in here, I think this slots in at number 2 for me on my favourite shows of all time. It used to be The Wire at number 1 and Sopranos at number 2, but this has knocked the Sopranos down. However, I think I'd agree with DDID that season 5 of BB is the best season of TV ever. My favourite scene was probably Walt's phonecall to Skyler at the end of Ozymandias. But only because I hadn't really realised he was doing that on purpose, to absolve her of blame. I didn't realise that until Saul complimented him on it in the next episode. So when he was making that call I was seeing it as a "There Will be Blood" moment. I thought that was his absolute peak, he'd completely descended into evilness. I was absorbed. I also thought the scene in the final episode where he tells Skyler the truth was extremely poignant. "I did it for me" Throughout the whole show, Skyler was the only one he couldn't lie to. She always knew he was lying. So that moment, when he's finally totally straight with her was great. And she seemed to be pleased/relieved/forgiving/sympathetic when he finally said that. That bit was very emotional. Anyway, absolutely fantastic television. I'm truly gutted it's over (for me). I'll be recommending it to everyone.
