  1. I loved it up to season 5 inclusive. The first episode of 5 was one of the craziest 42 minutes of TV ever. 6 was woeful, 7 was a bit better due to the return of Almeida and then 8 was a bit meh. So 5 was the peak for me. Evil Charles Logan was great. Yep, first episode of season 5 was absolutely mental. Unfortunately that's where that season peaked and the whole show went donwhill from there. 6 was a low point. 7 and 8 sort of picked back up but it was never anywhere near as good as it was when it started.
  2. STEVO!!!! Aren't you 28 or 29? Come on, you're my age, EVERYONE knows that Robert De Niro song!! Yup, 28 Maybe it's just one of those things that slips through the net. I havent' actually clicked on that video to listen to it, so maybe I'll recognise it when I hear it. But the name doesn't ring any bells
  3. You're 5 episodes into a 16 episode season. I love them both with equal measure, but if I could choose only one to watch again it would be S5 of BB. Basically every episode from where you are now is an absolute ripper, apart from on EP in the second half which slows it all down a little for the build up. It's relentless, that's how I like my TV. **** Me It's really REALLY REALLY good isn't it? Yeah, i think it might have been the latter option above. Still got 2 episodes to go, but the last few have been utterly incredible. Finished it. That final season is a masterpiece. The final 2 episodes were excellent but nothing topped episode 14, that was special. Absolutely loved the whole thing, and it's exactly how a show should be. Great all the way through but slowly ramping up to one incredible final season. I think it's slotted in at NUmber 2 in my favourite shows ever (sorry Sopranos!). I think the Wire will still beat it overall as a whole show, but DDID may be right. That final season may be the best season of TV I've ever watched. I'll have to give it a while to sink in before I properly judge, but yeah, it's up there. Off to the BReaking Bad thread for the first time ever to read what everyone else thinks about it!
  4. I'm not trying to be funny but how has Richard got a reputation for being ITK? I'm not sure he does, which is the point Pilchard is oh so subtly trying to make in every single post.
  5. How do you know we won't replace a CH? We're only halfway through the window. Absolutely - BUT the CH is something that we have been missing since Aug / Sep? It's not as though this was a new requirement and we saw again last night the fragility of the current set we have. The signing of yet another forward and especially one of his talent (!) and wages was never number 1 prty. Signing a defender and a midfielder certainly was. Yep, I totally agree. My only response would be that the Holt deal I imagine would have been fairly swift due to the previous relationship, Holt's desire to come here and Wigan's probable ease with letting him leave. Plus it's only a loan which tend to be easier to conclude I think. We don't know that the midfield and CB targets (if there are any) haven't been harder to tie up. That's all speculation though. FWIW I'd totally agree with you, which is why I've said that if Holt is our only business I'll be suitably pissed off.
  6. I was listening to the radio at the point he got injured. The commentator said "One of the villa players is down with a head injury. Not sure who it is... I think it's Ciaran Clark" To which I immediately thought "I bet it's Baker, not Clark" alas, 5 seconds later "It's not Clark, it's actually Nathan Baker who's down" Hope he recovers soon. And that nonsense about being a wimp is exactly that, nonsense. How dare he get knocked unconscious!
  7. That's great. Your opinion is valid. It still doesn't change my point.
  8. How do you know we won't replace a CH? We're only halfway through the window.
  9. I was saying similar last season. Not because Ireland was good, but just because we had nobody else who played as an attacking midfielder. But he did play a few times and he was still shit, so don't worry about it.
  10. Would we? I'd rather one of them down the middle and albrighton out wide than Holt down the middle with those 2 wide. Neither of them are exactly world beaters out wide. If we play a front 2 we have Bowery Hekenius Gabby Weimman Benteke 3 signed by lambert and one given a new contract by Lambert. If we play a front 3 you can add Albrighton and tonev to the list. Another player signed by Lambert I fail to see how a good manager couldn't make it work with the squad of players he signed and coached. Like I said give me weimman or gabby upfront and albrighton out wide any day over holt in the team. The problem is we then can't play hoofball and it requires the manager to actually try and get the players he signed to be able to pass the ball to each other. But we don't play a front 2. We play a CF with 2 wide attackers (Gabby and Andi mostly) Which was my point. if Lambert wants to carry on playing that system then I can see why he'd want to replace Kozak as he was one of only 2 players currently at the club who could play the role he wanted his CF to play. You might prefer gabby up front and someone else out wide than Holt up front, but that's your opinion. My point still stands.
  11. Also, as has been mentioned elsewhere, if this is a replacement for Kozak, short term, then we'll have had very little time to scout for any strikers (as Kozak isn't long injured) So again I can see the logic behind Lambert taking a "safe" option and signing a player he knows he can work with.
  12. I don't think we do have a lot of strikers though that play Kozak's position. Like i Said previously, Benteke, Kozak, Bent and Delfouneso. 2 of those are out on loan and one is injured. All of our other strikers are wide attackers. Gabby and Andi can obviously play CF but are being utlised out wide, so we'd be weakened if we moved them to CF. So we have a fair few strikers, but not many that fit into that position in Lambert's current system Again, Holt wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice. But I can see why Lambert brought him in.
  13. Vlaar. Who you'd be hard to argue against being a good signing.
  14. Lerner then brings in someone like Dave Jones as manager with the same restricted budget. Yeah, great, can't wait. Oh i agree. I want Randy out too. I am just tired of Lambert and his negative tactics. He wasnt like this last season. Not sure what has brought it on. Probably our appalling defensive record last season and a desire to rectify it. He's gone too far int he other direction, imo. But it doesn't take a genius to work out why he might be less attacking this season than last.
  15. I think he will turn out OK. With the emphasis on OK, not good or great, but neither will he turn out to be terrible (imo) Like I've said elsewhere, if this is our only business of the transfer window then I'll be annoyed and frustrated. But I can see the logic in getting in a short term, cheap(ish) replacement for Kozak while he's out. Holt wouldn't be my first choice, or even 20th choice, but I can see the logic behind getting a player there and understand why Lambert would have faith in a player he's managed before. I would hope that we'll have a couple of other signings to add to this.
  16. Strikers at the club Benteke Kozak Gabby Weiman Helnius Bowery Fonz (loan) Bent (loan) To be fair, if you specified that list to centre forwards, you'd be left with Benteke Bent (Out on loan) Kozak (Injured) Delfouneso (out on loan) Granted Gabby and Weimann can play there, but that would weaken our wider attacking options. (I don't really think Holt is a good signing by the way, just playing Devil's advocate)

    A new low

For christs' sake. Some people need to get a grip. I'm off to Scientologytalk.com to speak to some people with more sense.

    Running

I used to use "imapmyrun" (i think, something like that anyway) Free, and it maps your run as you do it and records your speed, time, splits, inclines etc etc and saves it all. Really useful, especially if you're mapping out a new route and want to know how far it is. As a result I had a load of routes around where I live. A 2 mile one, 3 mile, 4 mile, 5 mile, 10k and 10 mile. Would have been a lot more complicated without it
  19. Nope, never heard of it. Wasn't entirely sure who Banarama were either before you posted that video. Thought it was a cartoon.
  20. I'm guessing the first part of your post is lost on me due to my youth as it makes no sense to me! But yeah, I never said he'd be a great. I just said he doesn't deserve the stick he gets. I think he's a good actor, whereas there seems to be a rather large train of thought that he's shit.
  21. McLeish could sign Messi & Ronaldo & he would still get it in the neck from the majority of Villa fans IMO. Because he'd leave them on the bench in favour of HUtton and Heskey.
  22. I was asking for Hoolahan since before Lambert was here. I think anyway. Certainly a while ago anyway. It's not a reaction to Lambert wanting him now.
