  1. Anyone still want Wet Spam to win? Disgraceful behaviour. I hope they lose and lose by more than a few goals.
  2. Why single out the BBC? Sky News has similar (and I expect many other major news outlets).
  3. Not sure about that. Not in the short term anyway. Many Russians are heading across to e.g. Georgia to avoid call-up and I can't see a mass uprising in Moscow itself, not without a helluva lot of bloodshed. In my opinion, the only way this monster is going to be removed is from the inside so to speak if/when he loses the war.
  4. 2. If Putin withdraws now he is finished (and he knows it).
  5. Looks like I've just been beaten to this but don't forget about the state pension to top up any other pension funds you may have, assuming you qualify (e.g. have built up NI contributions). Don't rely on that though, keep on building and topping up other pension funds where you can.
  6. True story: I was once abroad years ago and asked for an iced coffee. They had no idea what it was so they brought me out a steaming hot coffee, followed by a big ice cube that they dropped in. They must have thought I was mad.
  7. Counter Terrorism Police would be all over it if that was the case. They've obviously spoken to him, realised he's a bit dozy, and handed it back to the local Westminster Police.
  8. Talk is they were either drunk as a skunk or indeed, had some skunk. Weird one though, they've arrested them on dangerous driving but not drink driving so I'm not buying it. Apparently came out of the MOD car park too. Possibly had a brain fart or some other episode (well I suppose it can happen) but I'm not buying that either given the direct line it took towards the gates before slowing down. It might well be some loon trying to get their claim to fame. EDIT: Or as Bicks says below and Davkaus says above - due to the bloody SatNav (which is entirely plausible seeing as how many people rely on the things, almost constantly watching them).
  9. I suddenly had visions of this: Putin: Your army, Luka.. The deal was for your army. [Luka spins over a large map and a glass of vodka.] Williska: Oh, Vlad...! [yelps as Luka jabs her with the fork, making her drop the map into his hand.] Luka: To your very good health. [attempts to take a drink from the vodka, Williska elbows him] Williska: Vlad, he put a hole-- he put two holes in my dress from Paris! Vlad: [Angrily] Sit down! [Williska obeys] Now... you bring me the real map. Luka: My pleasure. [beckons to his assistant, disguised as a waiter] Williska: What on earth is this "Map"? Luka: Here he is. Williska: [watches as the small map is given to Vlad] This map is a real small map... Vlad: Inside are the remains of my new army - first new(er) start of Russian power! Luka: Welcome home, old boy. [Luka sips his vodka. Vlad and his henchmen laugh] Vlad: And now, you give me the map. Luke: [tugging at his collar as though in discomfort] Are you trying to develop a sense of humor, or am I going deaf? [Vlad holds up a vial of blue liquid, still chuckling.] Williska: What's that? Vlad: Antidote. Luka: [Suddenly tense] To what? Vlad: The poison you just drank, Mr president! [continues to laugh]
  10. Same. I get really annoyed by it all. I had one guy phone me up really upset not too long ago as he can't afford the rent down here (he's a new starter just starting his career) and needed to move out. He looked for properties that are affordable (and comfortable) but nothing was available. He doesn't want to move into shared accommodation as he is quite a private man and I totally respect that. The upshot of it is, I agreed that he can work from his family home in Yorkshire for however long he needs to and we also agreed that if there is a business need (e.g. to access systems not available remotely) that he would need to find a way to be on site. He now books roughly 1 week a month into a local cheap hotel to make himself available on site and connect socially with the rest of the team. I haven't asked him to, that's just the kind of guy he is and he should be applauded for that. Forcing people to commute long distances on a daily basis is not the way to go. There is of course the argument that "they knew what they signed up for" when agreeing terms but times have changed. None of our contracts have included home working, but they did include the line that their home site will be so and so. Pragmatic solutions are needed (like for the guy I mentioned above) and as long as staff make themselves available in the office when there is a genuine business need then I don't see what the issue is. For the record, my team has never been so productive or close socially since the inception of home (hybrid) working.

Tracker was another one I remember. About 8 of us, split into 2 teams - one team the trackers, the other doing the running and hiding.

"In American and Canadian English, the noun meaning the edge of a sidewalk or roadway is spelled curb. In varieties of English from outside North America, the word is spelled kerb". Apparently. Grammarist

Yep, Kerby for me. The sheer joy when you had the ball bouncing off both kerbs from one throw.
