I am not saying that a back up keeper should have all the attributes, but another important difference is that Martinez is a sweeper keeper, Olsen seems to stick pretty much to his line.
He was excellent. That shows what he can do.
Needs to be doing it more often, and I think the new influx of top players might help him.
I've always liked him; wanted us to buy him seasons ago. he always gives 100%; never stops running; I'd love to see him kick on now.
He is bloody aggressive for someone his size. He is forever squaring up to guys a foot taller than him. He looks proper grumpy on the pitch. I like him.
4 good CB'S. For the first time in a long time. Why would we want to sell him?
Times have changed; we have wealthy, ambitious owners; we don't need to move a player on to buy another.
The owners will be more interested in having a SQUAD to take us to where they want us to be than counting the pennies ala Doug Ellis.
I realise that keepers have to mature, but, knowing little about it, I am surprised that our young keepers are worse than Olsen, and are not capable of being backup.
Ah, you mean the Villa fan who is the best player we have had in a decade, who gave us some of the best years of his career, and moved on to win silverware before his career was over?
Crazy way to look at things.
You could say the same for any player that season scoring a goal, never mind keeper saves, defensive tackles, etc.
I think you will find it was any player participating that season that kept us up.
