  1. Guzan makes me nervous now. The last few games he has got away with some bad blunders when trying to clear the ball. Just not good with his feet, and he knows it, and you can sense his panic.
  2. Swansea are a decent side, and generally outplayed us. However, we put in a decent performance, especially on the break, and could easily have won it. Gomis and Sinclair both missed a number of decent opportunities. I would have to say though that overall if one team had to win it, it was them. They definitely shaded it, but we were close to getting a draw, and no one could really have considered that unfair. We played with a lot of heart, just not the ability and flair shown recently, for much of the game, but you could see it all coming apart before the goal. Was not really expecting anything from this game, so not too disappointed. Plenty of ups and downs to come before the end of the season, and I still think Sherwood can pull us through.
  3. If he keeps doing the business for us as he has been recently, I don't care who he supports. I have been really critical of him for some time, and rightly so in my opinion, but he has been fantastic in the last few games. If only he can keep it going.
  4. Sherwood said that they were all finding the training tough and sustaining injuries because he insists that they train at a high tempo. Vlaar would be even more vulnerable in that scenario.
  5. It wasn't a joke at all. I'll get behind him because I want Villa to do well, but that doesn't hide my opinion he is a self-important idiot. I hope he proves me wrong though. It was a joke!
  6. I was doubtful about him after his appearances for the first team, but he seems to be doing well, and it would be brilliant if he fulfilled his early promise.
  7. That would be a positive for him. He will walk away having lost money.
  8. Yes, and slightly surprising to me. Very interesting.
  9. Think it is second yellow - one game.
  10. I would move Lerner to the top of the list. In spite of his best intentions, which in my opinion he had when he came in, his naivity and mismanagement have definilely made him the author of our misfortunes.
  11. I was very doubtful about him, but so far he has been excellent.
  12. Played ok, then reverted to type after our goal. He needs time, though he does not have much of that, to instil belief in the players and get them playing how he wants them to; not that easy for them just to throw off the shackles and suddenly `do their thing'. Disappointing result, but I did suggest previously that if things did not go to plan we should remember that there is still some way to go and that there is a little bunch of teams still around us. Think our players are overrated by us, but they are no worse than some of those teams around us. And those teams are digging in and showing fighting spirit beyond their perceived capabilities, and our players need to do the same. This is, I think, what Sherwood was bought for, his motivation of players.
  13. Really hope youre right. I dont think he will inside the next 4 games because thats when we need to be sorted out else were relegated. We've got 12 games left, not 4. If its not turned round by the 4 then the other 8 wont matter. Sorry, HA., don't understand this. What do you mean?
  14. I do not mind a bit of arrogance, but the other side of it, of course, is that you set yourself up to be shot down. Definitely what we need at the moment though, and his media presence is a positive for the club and the team at this stage at least. I am definitely not being negative, but, quite understandably considering the disappointments of recent times some are getting a bit carried away, and I think we need to dampen down our expectations a little. He has the rest of the season to keep us up, it is not just this match, and we need to keep that in mind if everything goes wrong today. Hope it won't though, I am looking forward to this game for the first time in a long time.
  15. Guzan should definitely retain his place, but in my opinion Given is an excellent back up keeper to have.
  16. I have posted this before, but how could he not think relegation was a possibility. Does not ring true. I had suggested that perhaps there were no other offers, or if there were, they were unwilling to match what we were willing to pay.
  17. I love Sid, one of my favourite players, but I wonder if he is suited to this job. I know the intake might possibly not be as good as it could be, but the boys seem to have gone backwards.
  18. No it is a fact, you only have to look at all of the records he broke as Villa manager No it's an opinion. If you said something like 'Lambert has the lowest points by a Villa manager' then yes it would be a fact. However, what you said is purely subjective. Because of the records that Lambert broke, it cannot be construed as anything other than fact.
  19. I think that is more a case of our forward players being so afraid that Sanchez would pass to them that they went and hid, but I take your point. You are both right.
  20. OK, I am probably the only one to remember this, and it's getting a bit vague now, but has to be the 1957 Cup Final against Manchester United. Had only started supporting them in 1956, so it was a fantastic feeling. And Northern Ireland's Peter McParland scoring both goals was the icing on the cake.
  21. Bloody hell ! I can barely remember what I had for breakfast ! Impressive.
  22. It's not a remotely tough call. Given isn't fit to lace Guzan's boots Guzan is not in good form.. so yes i disagree with you. Guzan is hardly in bad form. How many goals has he cost us directly compared with the upset bringing shay in would cause to the defence? Too many people don't have the first clue about goalkeeping on these sites. Christ. The amount of patronising that goes on in these sites is incredible, especially from someone who states the bit I have highlighted.
  23. Any commentator/pundit I have seen or heard comments on how poor our free kicks, corners, and crosses are. These are very basic skills. Surely all that is needed is a bit of application in training and repetitive practice. It is not as if the player is being tackled at the time of taking them. Cannot understand why this has been a problem for so long.
