  1. It was obviously not a must win game, as in spite of our loss, we can still avoid relegation, no matter what happens with the other results today. I never said that if we lose then we wouldn't be able to avoid relegation. Of course a game that if you win guarantees your safety then it's a must win. Not if you have other chances to guarantee your safety.

  3. I would be convinced it is not one miss kick. He has looked unsure and unsteady this season and certainly not at the standard he has been at in previous seasons. Still a good keeper, but with Given also not as good as he was, I can see why Sherwood would be looking at other options.
  4. Ron Atkinson probably. John Gregory possibly to a lesser extent.
  5. http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/aston-villa/9850028/sherwood-confident-on-villa-ownership He really is quite a character !!
  6. Reilly? apart from his transfer dealings. Reilly? I think the way it works is Reilly was responsible for all the good signings, and Lambert for all the bad ones I'm sure Lambert must have had final say on the signings. Other managers get credit/slated for their signings, I don't see why we'd have to make an exception with lambert just because it might reflect slightly positively on him. Nope. Just trying to point out that a good scout plays a large part in signings.
  7. Edit: this might be old news Well, there are only two league games left, not three as he says, so a bit confusing. Anyway, I guess the message is the same, no decision at this point.
  8. Reilly? apart from his transfer dealings. Reilly?
  9. Right back, we've got Hutton? Yes, I know, Bacuna and Hutton are both good in their own way, but I think we still need someone better. Not as badly as we need a left back obviously.
  10. The other two bids seem to me to be old news. Very little strong evidence that I can see to indicate any bids are ongoing. I am cool about the whole thing anyway, I do not mind things progressing as they are at the moment under Lerner.
  11. I am not sure he is any better than Richardson for that left back spot. That is the area we definitely need to buy for, probably right back too. I like Bacuna, but I think it would make a big difference to the team to strengthen in those two areas.
  12. If we can keep this squad together with a few additions, together with Fox, Reilly and Sherwood, I see no reason why we could not finish 6th.
  13. Apropos B above - the way the media are creaming over him, we probably will not be able to keep him for long anyway.
  14. Two reasons I would like him to play for Ireland. A. See my location. B. We will keep him longer.
  15. Where is the Sherwood conversation with Grealish? Did I miss it?
  16. This is getting ridiculous. I am sure if Sherwood thought Gil was better than N'Zogbia he would be in the team. However, I do not think N'Zogbia should have his contract extended, we should be able to replace him with better.
  17. Has he really been out that long that he can be considered to be `rusty'.
  18. I have been complaining about the ineptitude of our midfield for some time, but I must say they have been brilliant recently. Delph and Cleverly especially have improved enormously, and Westwood has also been playing very well, probably the best he has played for us since he arrived, but I still feel he is the weak link in the midfield as he does not influence games enough. I would like to see him replaced with a stronger, more dominant player in that position, and retained as back up to that player.
  19. What I wanted rather badly a few months ago suddenly does not seem so attractive.
  20. The first two matches were losses so we cannot really say there was a new manager bounce. He has done fantastically well, I feel that I am watching a different team, but we must remember he is still basically a rookie manager, and we need to cut him some slack next season, as it is likely that he will make mistakes, as he will be learning on the job.
  21. Why would that bother you? Disgraceful comment. People are entitled to equality and respect, they did not choose to be different. And I can assure you all that not all people in Ireland are bigots. But we do have too bloody many of them.
  22. It's by no means perfect, but it's better than what we have.
  23. So Lerner/Fox were making early moves to put in place a manager to replace one who was clearly failing - good! Anything to sell biennial books - football's answer to Jordan.
