  1. Yeah, probably one of those posh trains that doesn't use coal. Lucky b*****d !
  2. Not sure he has it in him any more. It is a long way back for him, and we do not have the luxury of giving him that time to see if he can make it.
  3. Just what we needed - another player with no confidence. Really did not want to take anyone on. Grealish would have been better. And bring back Robinson - Agbonlahor and Benteke are useless at the moment. Grealish, Robinson, Weimann, Gil, Sanchez - there would be energy and effort instead of the lack lustre performances we are getting at the moment. Taking a chance, yes, but something needs to happen.
  4. Yes Burnley might need a win to stay up. We are the team Burnley would be wanting to play last day of the season.
  5. I'm one of them, and I can't any more Well said.
  6. The interviews are getting more pathetic every time. He must know he is taking us down. Why can he not just go with some shred of dignity.
  7. Yes - anyone will be better than Lambert. We need a boost to survive.
  8. A poll is not required. I would think only a very small percentage would still support him.
  9. I'd take another Palace away performance - might have been shite and under the cosh but we made chances and Benteke scored a good 'un. Don't care how we win - just win - at THIS MOMENT in time a win is a win is a win - no matter the performance. Not bothered about the performance - the result is the important thing. I was referring to our poor recent performances, and the various postings that, in my opinion, are underestimating the opposition, and the size of the task facing us tonight.
  10. I don't know, I just googled his name and saw this article. I thought it was a good appointment until I saw this. Not so sure now.
  11. No No I agree. Other than Benteke, there doesn't seem to have been a lack of effort, they have just been playing very badly with the wrong tactics most of the time. Agreed (we seem to be doing this a lot lately!) I can't say i've noticed a lack of motivation from our players. it's been key to a lot of the points we've actually managed to gain this season. But even in games we've lost I've always got the impression that the players are really trying. Arsenal is probably the exception but that was a result of us getting spanked as opposed to not playing for the manager. I think the team are still playing for Lambert. But, like the compliment that's he's built a decent squad, that makes the lack of points on the board more worrying, if anything. As I've said a few times, no improvement over the next 2 months is unacceptable. Mid April with no improvement would probably mean relegation, as there would be little chance at that stage to turn it round.
  12. There is a great danger of underestimating Hull here. At this moment in time and this particular part of the season, we, of all the teams at the bottom, are the team performing worst.
  13. To me, Weimann is the most troublesome of our front three for defenders, and also the most likely to score.
  14. Yeah. He's incredibly lucky that the better teams in those fixtures got results. Would love to see the reviews on here if Villa had been involved in any of those results: "Ah well, fair enough, the better team got the result." Anyway, I don't know if you saw any of the Man C/Hull match, but Man C clearly weren't the better team on the day and absolutely got out of gaol. Like I say, lucky Lambert. His teams play rubbish for 90% of the time yet every year he scrapes free of relegation. And I hope he stays lucky, because his luck is our luck, and relegation at this time could be a disaster from which we might never recover.
  15. My recollection is that Sanchez had perhaps 3 very poor games right at the beginning, and since then has been improving so much so that he was our best midfielder. He did have a terrible game against City, but that should be seen as a one off. Should not have been benched, plenty of our players have had a run of consistently poor games, but still being picked. Arsenal. It's my age !
  16. We seem to be a kiss of death in terms of managerial careers! GT went on to England and it all went downhill from there never to recover. Little did nothing of note afterwards, JG same, Big Ron, O'Leary, Venglos (went on to lower european leagues???), McLeish, I honestly cannot think of any manager who has left us to then go on to bigger and better things. I used to think it was something to do with Douglas Herbert but looking at it now it can't be all his fault! It's a gypsy curse, I tells ya!

  18. Agbonlahor was not particularly good at the weekend, but the movement with him, Weimann and Gil was much better. I think I would say, reluctantly, to possibly start with them again, because at least it looked like they might score. Or perhaps Weimann up front, Gil in behind, bench Agbonlahor and Benteke, bring in Sanchez, push Delph further forward. For a bit of solidity, controlled forward play, not gung-ho. Such an important game, minimum must not lose, and we certainly do not need a sulking passenger up front.
  19. I think we all know what the target is. That is not the problem.
  20. Don't think we are doing that, we are being realistic based on actual performances.
  21. That's about right, 6/7 points should be possible, and is probably the minimum we would need.
  22. Grealish needs to go out on loan to the Championship, and it looks like there will be no shortage of takers. I think he will be a great player for us, but I also think his appearances showed that he is not quite ready yet. I like Robinson, not as showy as Grealish, but a great attitude from the little I have seen of him, and I think both will have successful careers.
  23. He didn't keep us up. Its teams below us that saved our season, will be the same this time, not Lambert's genius. That's like saying to the Champions (whoever they may be at any given time) that they're only Champions because the teams below them weren't good enough. Yes, but that is correct, the teams below them weren't good enough.
  24. I do not think that you can even say he has had a bad game as such, it is just that he does very little, and is completely ineffective.
  25. I'd play that side but with vlaar instead of clark, we need all the experience we can get Although Clark has proven recently that he is better than Okore and also more reliable.
