  1. I am shocked horrified and appalled the pedal for petrov fundraiser. Went to the site to make a donation and was horrified to see tgey have only raised 45k If every villa plyer offered even half a weeks wage they would have raise the target of 250k Can the mods please post something on the main page asking pp to support this cause? If anyone has contacts within the club please mention this as its a very poor reflection on the club that a fundraiser is failing so badly when its supporting our club captain!!!
  2. yeah this points to the fact that lambert is doing things the right way and if we can get the likes of albie, and gabby back ino the fray and have holman and al hamedi getting more acustomed to the pace and physicality of the english game then i think we'l cause sides problems. it'll take more than a few games though and until everything starts to click i think we'll see a few more defeats
  3. to be fair we've had more shots than them, more possession, more territory and more shots on target. yeah we've looked poor at times but remember this is a very inexperienced side in thepremierleague so that we're struggling as a team isnt a surprise still hate that the kit stealers are wiinning thought...
  4. watched some footage of nobay - have to say he looks like a passenger - decent when he has the ball but not interested if he hasnt
  5. when Darren Bent, one of the most prolific scorers in the prem in recent years, says he's the best finisher at the club and has a great future i suggest you listed up. just as an aside, i recall michael owen and wayne rooney having poor loan periods in the lower leagues not to mention Denis Bergkamp scoring only 5/6 goals in 48 games in the prem - i guess those guys must be shit players too then yeah?
  6. god no please dont come to villa complete waste of a football jersey - a complete and utter donkey, good for nothing other than using as a battering ram. He's a remnant fossil of an aspect of the game that no longer exists and for the benefit of the sport. Graham Taylor MKI would have loved him but he's not a modern day footballer and never will be. Give me gabby over this guy every time
  7. bringing on an attacking left winger to play left back will cost you goals - bale started to shine when he was played in his correct position and given licence to attack at will he started putting in some great performances. I'm not saying he's world class but he is a very good attacking player who has the ability to tear defences apart with his pace and skill, but as with all creative players he doesnt do it every game - SHOCKER GG is a class act and played in the right position and given a run of games (not a few starts here and there and sporadid sub apps) he'll become a good player but he's not going to come into a poor and dereft villa side and set the prem alight playing as a defensive midfielder or right midfielder - because he isnt one. Thats like saying the cashier in a bank thats getting bailed out is a bad cashier because the bank is doing badly - it just doesnt make sense
  8. for his performance against england mellberg
  9. Laudrup is an unproven manager, and is unproven in england as his is style of football Lambert has worked in england quite a while, done well with norwich and his style of football works here. Laudrup may prove to be a great manager he may be a flop - lambert is a solid manager how is capable of at least steadying the ship which is precsicely what we need right now
  10. 7 goals in 13 appearances is decent in Sapin... but only 1 appearances in a distinctly average osasuna team amkes me think he's not that great
  11. guzan is a better eeper than ruddy. ruddy is not a good keeper. having said that i'm not a fan of shay either - not because i dont htink he's good - he is - but he isnt the type of keeper we need. We need a big keeper who can command his area and kick the shit out of (verbally) the defence - shay can do nether of these and i think that is why the defence fell apart last season
  12. lamberts already confirmed that Stan will remain captain for next season maybe vice captain tho?
  13. i have to applaud the club for this. I think getting asians involved in football can only be a positive. I know a lot of very talented young asian lads that could play pro football but are not permitted to do so because their families would not aprove, i know one lad in particluar who defied his parents and went to trials at villa, he didnt make it but has now been ostracised by his family and none of them will even speak to him now. Its a very hard choice to have to make... My dreams or lose my family... very sad IMHO
  14. in gabby's defence he's played out wide more than up front he's also provided alot of assits, and his crossing has been far better than anyone else in the side. if we had a team that knew how to pass he'd be useful but as we dont he suffers. unless we change managers then i think he should leave, if we bring in someone else as manager then he'll start scoring agian mark my words
  15. well i hope this game was the nail in the coffin. Started with 7 defenders on the pitch. Went 2 down with 3 attacking players on the bench and not 1 of them was brought on to try and win the game... WHY??? McLeish OUT!!!!!!!! Lerner OUT!!!!!!!
  16. why would lambert leave norwich (top half) for villa (nearly relegated)?
  17. smetrov - who do you see coming in and doing a better job? Coyle? Curbishley? IMO they're no better than mcleish and i certainly wouldnt trust them with transfer funds. looking at some others, AVB, ANcelotti as you mention - doubt they would come here even in their worst nightmares. It isnt just a case of managers looking for work, its a case of who would risk coming here?
  18. Money is the only think the current regime is concerned about currently, so if the fans want to force change, stop the protests and stop giving your hard earned cash to the club, and they will have no choice but to get the message. I honestly dont think anything else will force a change - even relegation...
  19. there are very slim pickings out there manager wise. i think if QPR go down we should try and poach Hughes from them - wanted him before we appointed mcleish
  20. well the vast majority of pundits havent kicked a ball in over 10 years so they are so far removed from current football its easy to see why they talk nothing but s**t
  21. in all fairness when we have the ball he is the only player pushing us on and creating anything, when we dont have the ball he is the only player running his ass off trying to close the opposition down - what more do you want from him exactly? He cant win matches on his own
  22. so we're safe barring something unprecedented in world football, but we certainly didnt make it easy for ourselves. Given - 6 - make some decent saves but nothing that i wouldnt expect from any prem quality keeper, what worries me about given is his lack on voice and command over the defence. At least 6 times the ball was rolling around in the 6 yard box and given stayed back on his line when he should be diving onto the ball like it were a grenade. There were numberous corners floating through the air over the 6 yard box he could easily have come and caught. The man looks pertrified of coming off his line and whem he does decide to come off it, its to chase lost causes out on the wing. We need a more physically commanding keeper as we dont have a good enough defence to compensate for his shortcomings. Hutton - 7 - looked decent before e went off Dunne - 5 - would have been a 7 but for his rush of blood that cost us 2 points. But he always has at least one rush of blood in a game that nearly costs us - too much of a liability these days to warrant a first team place Cuellar - 8 - head and shoulders above the rest as usual, if only he had some more decent players around him. Lichaj - 7 - very promising, you can see why he's playing for the USA. Looked farily comfortable against lennon and bale today which is no small feat. nzogbia - 0 - i honestly cant recall him making one pass, injury or not he is useless and he should follow mcleish to the unemployment line Herd - 6 - workman like performance as always. Still not sure if he is prem material but he'll work hard for the cause and i respect that. Clarke - 6 - same as Herd Ireland - 7 - class above anything we have in midfield or up front really. Were he playing with better players more of what he does would pay off, but he is just a step or two ahead of everyone else mentally. Needs to tone his creativity down a bit so the players around himcan keep up. Great workrate today too. Wornock - 6 - does more in midfield than he ever did at fullback. his passing is still pretty poor and his defending still isnt great but he's also a hard worker and puts his body on the line for the cause. Heskey - 4 - oh dear... has lost any semblance of fitness and pace that he ever had. Pretty much stands around and lets the ball ounce off him. cant run, cant padd and cant control a football - only gets the 4 because he looked as though he was trying bad as he was Weiman - 6 - looked lively before he was injured Collins - 5 - cant wait for this fella to leave the club. Puts his body on th eline but due to his complete lack of pace and awareness, is an accident waiting to happen. Had Dunne not given away a penalty, Collins prbably would have... Delfournso - 4 - hasnt ever lived up to the hype. Though, he is a confidence player much like Bent, and how can you have any confidence when Heskey is preferred over you all the time? And when all the chances you get are when there are no other fit strikers in the squad? In another team, played regularly he'll improve, but i dont hink its ever going to happen here
