  1. WHO THE HELL VOTED FOR WARNOCK? must be having a laugh - worst player on the pitch (excluding collins) by a country mile Ireland all day for me - the only creative spark in the side, felt we were hard done by with a draw - we were confortable for the most part and deserved three points not saying we were good but we were better than eveton
  2. too many poor passes in this game we're making bristol look like an Premier League side at the moment
  3. maybe that he has appeared at less and less matches season on season suggests that he has lost interest then?
  4. yeah the number of times that gabby has put in a great cross to the near post for no one to be there he has no problem showing his annoyance and as his strike partner the near post is exactly where Bent should be
  5. makouns_grin are you here just to stir things up? do we all have to write IMO on everything that we write or as we are on a public forum can it just be taken that what we write unless we are quoting from somwhere specific in always an opinion? Mark Huges is just one example from a list ove about a dozen managers that were available and had better track records than Eck at the time not to mention that as we finished top half there would have been a large number of emplyed managers around also with better track records than Eck that would have considered the job had we approached them. To cut a long story short i cannot believe that from all the managers out there that Eck was the best of those that would agree to take the job? If thats the case then the people running the club are doing an even worse job than i though that they are unable to convince even half decent managers to come and work at one of he most prestigious and sucessful clubs in thr country over the last 20 years - INCOMPETANCE!
  6. makoun i can understand you being annoyed about, beye and djemba were both incredibly poor players and should never have been signed in the first place though plus i hear that the makoun loan was at his request - he signed becuase he wanted o work with houllier and once houllier was gone he wanted out so it was never meant to be... so all in all your point in mute
  7. Yeah its not great never said it is, but finding a perfect manager is not easy for any club or any manager, a solid one is like gold dust. Fans shouldn't be trusted though, at the start of the season Arsenal fans were calling for Wengers head with names such as Coyle as a suggestion. The same Coyle that this season has come a cropper and proven not all that, whilst Wenger has come good again. If they had listened to some moronic fans they would be even worse! Lerner's decided on Eck, god knows why he is shit, but i dont know what he could or couldn't afford or what basis it may or may not have on the running of the club. So go ahead sack him, get someone else in that will instantly be good, not piss off any fans/players and cost no money to move all parties around. Job done. Saying he is shit get someone else doesn't work in the real world i'd imagine. Exactly how short sighted are you? Eck has a proven record of getting clubs relegated. 2 relegations in 3 years in fact. How does that in any way make him a potential manager for a club that has a recent history of finishing 6th 3 years running? With the 5th highest points tally in the premier leage over its 20 years? This man is not fit to manage a premier league club, never was, never will be. This is not just a poor decision, it's one that should never even have been considered. Look at the other shortlisted manager, Steve Mcclown? He couldnt even last 6 months at Forest... When the like of Mark Hughes wasnt even shortlisted there is something rotten at the core of this football club - and at the core are the owner and his appointed officials all of whom have been doing a poor job of running a "football club" since day 1.
  8. Replace the word 'unpopular' with 'poor' and it is pretty serious. replace the word 'poor' with 'embarrassingly poor' and we're a little past serious...
  9. when you consider that 42% of his career goals have come from headers?
  10. so appointing a string of incompentents as chief exec and to the board (falkner, krulak) and the worst managers since Venglos (Houllier, Eck) arent cause for concern?
  11. if it came down to a choice over who stays - has to be gabby all day i'm afraid...
  12. well if the salary is small then i think he's worth a go. seen him a couple of times and looks good in the air and very strong would def need to work on his football though
  13. that hughes wasnt even in the running (apparently) is just another nail in Randy's coffin for me though. Eck should have been the shot gun to the temple but it seems Randy is a bit of an undead fiend so we'll need to get soon hoodoo into the mix to sort this one out!
  14. No more McLeish. No more Faulkner. sounds great - where do i sign?
  15. Do you really think the board chose AMC over Mark Hughes in the first place? Why would Mark Hughes come here with no money to spend and having to trim the wage bill. He left Fulham for "lack of ambition".... we are no different. It's purely conjecture but i'd say hughes left fulham because he was expecting an offer from another club whether that was villa or not we cannot say but i cannot imagine any other reason why he would leave a job without thinking he would or could get offered another
  16. You mean former captain and manager of Wales, born in Wrexham Hughes? Yeah definately one of the most promising English managers around. another fine point one of the most promising "British" managers around
  17. in case you havent noticed we have 2 wingers in nzogbia and albrighton, however in our last 3 games nearly every cross put in to by these 2 players havent landed inside the penalty area never mind been close enough to a villa player for them to be able to get on the end of it to have a socring chance. These players cannot provide ammunition of the quality required to make carrying a striker like bent when we are playing so badly
  18. You dont get it do you? We lost Downing and Young, 40 million in talent that provide some of the best crosses in the league. We know that we will not be able to buy new players without selling more or reducing the wage bill so effectively we cannot bring in more highly talented players because we cannot afford to. With than in mind having s striker on our books that is only of any real use when playing with talented players (which we dont hav as we see above) then what is the point in keeping him other than to stop him playing against us? We would be better served getting the transfer money in wages off the books and bringing in more hard working players to supplement our think squad and sure up our defence and midfield. I'm not saying this is what i want, i'm saying that with the factors that we have this makes the most sense and is the most likely course to bring the club more stability on the pitch
  19. We have a reserve team which is actually our kids who have run away with their league for the last few seasons, a U19 squad who won their group in the futures european competition beating teams like Ajax along the way and a pedigree for bringing kids through to the first team squad. But you want to remove the backroom staff? The only staff i would remove are those brought in by McLeish as the coaching throughout the club seems fine, its just the first team squad where nobody appears to have a bloody clue. sorry, perhaps i should rephrase and say the first team backroom staff?
  20. as many have said Gabby is priceless for villa - to me he is our talisman. He is the appitomy of how i thnk all footballers should be, determined and plays with his heart on his sleeve. He may not be the most talented player but the lad works his socks off and as we're not a particularly good team we could do with 9 more like him then we might actually be able to play as a team. with regards his market value i'd say anywhere from 12-25 million
  21. not to mention that Mark Hughes is unattac hed and one of he most promising English managers around for many years - i have him here in a heartbeat!!
  22. but there is no point in keeping Bent when we do not have the resources to make him an asset. Darren bent is best when he can get on the end of crosses - which we dont have the personnel to prove - or getting onto the end of through balls - which we dont have the personnel to provide. He also adds very little if anything to the team when we do not have the ball, so when we are playing badly, it is like having only 10 men as he doesnt track back or chase the ball. As it would take a huge amount of investment to bring in the players needed to make Bent into an asset again it makes far more sense to cash in on him and remove his wages from the wage drain and bring in players that can improve and change the ethos we have of crosses and through bals and will work harder in all areas of the pitch. I dont like that this is where the club is going but as we have gone from an attack minded free flowinf football team into a negative one then i'm afaraid here is no room for the likes of ben here at the moment...
  23. while we're changing the owner and manager can we also plase replace the entire backroom staff? the failings on the pitch this season can not only be due to bad tactics/managemnt but also bad coaching
