  1. Remember the mess Balotelli had trying to get that bib on?
  2. Christ, Dennis Wise is on the list... bring back Lambert!
  3. Far too negative today, the front two weren't able to hold the ball up at all to take pressure off us though. Even when we were dominating possession, we lost it as soon as we tried to get into the final third. Not really any positives to take from this one.
  4. I feel surprisingly optimistic about this one, maybe not a win but not a loss either. Probably not a classic to watch though.
  5. If it was all his fault I would agree, but of course it isn't.But then surely you blame the others rather than defend one of the guilty party. I'm not really sure what you mean. The owner, manager, players, coaching staff etc are all "guilty" of putting us where we are, some more so than others, but do they all deserve the sack? Most of them yes. Wow, that's some rebuilding job.

  8. Some people seem so desperate to crucify Lambert that they are taking a spurious quote from a social media site as evidence of some great wrong-doing. Let's not forget that N'zogbia was so terribly upset at being called 'insomnia' that he went on strike at Newcastle to force through a transfer. He strikes me as the type who is quite happy to sow the seeds in order to discredit the manager and get his own way.
  9. I remember lots of people raving about how good Solksjaer would have been as our manager before we got Lambert.
  10. He had some good moments today but his crossing was consistently poor.
  11. He played as well as could be hoped today given his obvious limitations. Give him a free header and he will bury it, our other strikers should take note.

    Joe Bennett

I haven't seen enough from him to suggest that he is worth nurturing for another season with a view to him being good enough for the squad the season after that. If we get Bertrand I think we should just look to get whatever we can for Bennett and Luna and move them on.
  13. The only time I want to see this guy in a Villa shirt is if I am looking at him through the cross hairs of a sniper rifle. He has proved to be nothing more than a brief flash in the pan. He just doesn't have the ability to be a premiership player, and although he is still relatively young, I don't see the potential for much improvement.
  14. Given our lack of firepower, I didn't expect to win this, but we really needed to avoid losing it. Yet, even after we had equalised, we seemed hell bent on leaving huge gaps for them to exploit. It was no surprise that they scored again.
  15. I don't know where our goals are going to come from. The line ups that people have been posting just make my heart sink due to the total lack of quality up front. Time for Lambert to earn his corn.
  16. replace a 22-year-old improving prospect who has 3 goals and 4 assists this season for a 27-year-old with 3 goals and 1 assist? you underrate Weimann and overrate Puncheon. I'm not suggesting Puncheon is top class, but as a cheap option he would provide some pace and skill. I don't really think you can say Weimann is improving. I would prefer someone like Moses, but that is another step up in cost.
  17. I like the look of him, would probably go for 7m+ though. Not sure we would budget for that. It'll be: Bertrand 7m, midfielder 6m, striker 7m. I really hope we don't cough up £7m for Bertrand.
  18. He is apparently attracting interest from a lot of clubs. Certainly played very well against us.
  19. I think Jason Puncheon at Palace would be a good replacement for Weimann.
  20. Yes, he has been the most shocking waste of £800k in the history of football. And he thinks he is so clever whenever he gets the ball in the goal, it makes my blood boil.
  21. I don't think Bennett's one good game deserves to see him starting ahead of Bertrand. Given how tight the league positions are and how much prize money could be riding on a point or two, we probably need to go with our strongest team right to the last game. I think Bertrand is decent, probably no more than that, but we seem to have brought him down to our level the last couple of games.
  22. Seeing Tonev come on for 15 minutes and do his usual shoot into the crowd instead of pass might be refreshing, but seeing him do it for 45+ minutes is just annoying.
  23. Earlier in the season when he was carrying injuries he looked completely uninterested, but his desire seems to have been back lately. I certainly didn't think that his performance today was down to not wanting to be there. You don't miss your kick from six yards out because you want a transfer.
  24. There are plenty of things at this club worth being negative about, I can't understand why you need to apply that to a player who looks like a real prospect.
