  1. He looks like an 'a typical' premiership striker, nothing fancy, big strong, good in the air, good finisher. He should settle right in, he should do quite well. All great except... we play one up front, Bent.
  2. I think he has excellent technique which just needs refining.
  3. There are three sets are there? oh, ok.
  4. So do we or don't we like Lerner this week? I can never keep up.
  5. ^yep. Agree with PatrickCousens' assessment.
  6. £20M is a decent outlay. I don't know how £20M compares to others; is it fair for Randy and us to expect a mid table finish from that, all things considered? We needed to buy a few players urgently and Lambert has done that. Let's see how these signings do, lets hope they stay fit and hit the ground running, but I have a lot of faith in Lambert.
  7. How much have we spent then, over £20M?
  8. Never seen him play, here's hoping he's a steal and has many successful years here.
  9. Me neither, certainly not in CM anyway. He had a purple patch a few years ago playing as a very advanced midfielder/second striker. That's the only place I'd put him.
  10. He looked decent at CB, I'd leave him there until Dunne gets back.
  11. Data from seismometers deployed on the moon between 1969 and 1972, which recorded continuous lunar seismic activity until late-1977 is still useful today. When modern theory is applied to that data it suggest our moon has a core similar to Earth's.
  12. Berbatov would fit quite nicely. Even if he hasn't got the legs any more, his intelligence and quality would be a great addition to the club a bit like Keane last winter. He could teach a few of the young lads a thing or two as well. The problem is structuring a deal for him. His contract runs out next summer and I guess he would have been banking on earning himself a last lucrative contract somewhere. Berbatov would be a great signing if we could afford him. I think if Lambert is going to persevere with this 4-2-3-1 formation that seems to be so popular in the game, we need a creative striker behind bent. We need a decent LB and DMC player more.
  13. I'm all for getting the finances balanced, but I think he's cutting too hard and too fast at the moment. We NEED to bring in a few players.
  14. 4-2-3-1 ......................GIVEN.................. LOWTON...VLAAR...BAKER...LICHAJ .................KEA......DELPH............. .DELFOUNESO JOHNSON N'ZOGBIA. .......................BENT...................
  15. I guess the answer is yes then, I can never keep up.
  16. Do we hate Lerner this week then?
  17. I think we have enough technical ability to play possession football, I really don't think that's the problem. If I were Lambert, this week, (tactically), I'd concentrate on defending, from the front to the back. Pressing in midfield and up front, discipline at he back.
  18. I see various threads having a go at x or y player, most legitimate. However... I don't think there is any point in laying into individuals after that game, I really don't. Whether you choose to lay into N'Zogbia, Bannan, Clark whoever (ok maybe Clark), the problem v Everton was that the team didn't know what they were doing as a unit. We have some weak players, but the overriding factor was a lack of understanding, that will come - hopefully. Lambert has his job cut out. 1. He really needs Dunne back asap. I don't think he's a great defender, but he has the experience to help the others in the back 4. 2. He needs Gabby and Albrighton back, to give us a bit more going forward. 3. He needs to get in a LB asap. 4. He needs to sort out CM, and probably buy an experienced midfielder. 5. And most important, he needs to get them playing as a unit, front to back. The problems were all over, no understanding at the back, no closing down in midfield, no fluency in attack. Quite a lot of work to do, and a bit of money to be spent.
  19. He needs to dip into his pocket. The wage bill can be sorted after. One step back, two forward.
  20. No point venting spleen on Zog, he wasn't the worst player out there.
  21. really wanted to say this, but dont want to derail the thread would love to be a yank to get their perspective, struggling to think of an english equivalent but he's a huge figure and i can only imagine how massive his death is over there I get the impression he's a bit of an enigma to most Americans, not greedy, not brash, not a self publicist, just a quiet reluctant hero, who did walk on the moon.
  22. He isn't dead, as surely as the heart of mankind still beats, he will live on. 'this is, one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind'.
  23. Baker looked ok at times, not a LB but a strong tackler - could become a decent CB in time. We need Dunne to sort that mess out though, never thought I'd say that.
