  1. As others have said....I will be gutted if he puts in a transfer request. He is in the England squad at Villa, he is adored (by most), and has a chance to be a regular 'first on the teamsheet' type player for us. Not to mention Bent knocking in his crosses, and a free ride at set pieces with Young gone.
  2. I think the handball was so blatant that the ref felt sorry for the girl and just waved 'play on'...it was sunday social football stuff. That aside, the Aussie girls played some great stuff...hopefully they beat Norway and get out of the group behind Brazil.
  3. not sure Given is still up to it...I would prefer to go for Ruffier (spelling!) or Handanovic.
  4. you guys have no idea what hot is....much like we have no idea what cold is. it gets so hot here you can feel your semen curdling in your ball sack in the summer. It is winter here at the moment, and i'm hanging around in a t-shirt...
  5. I agree POB...I think he is overrated, Salifou would look good in that Barca team. He will get torn a new areshole in Italy.
  6. classic stuff, imagine the Villa Talk forums if that happened during our new kit launch (whenever that maye be)....
  7. This is exactly how I felt too General. What sort of fool does this to a club they supposedly love? My greatest fear now is that Randy will pack it in. Please, try and see through the disgraceful behaviour and see the passion of the supporters. Randy will make the right choice of manager, I am sure of that, whoever that is.
  8. thats true ponky, but the fact remains that we have publicly stated that we want to interview him and consider him as a possible candidate - that alone proves that the board need their heads read. no one needs to interview anyone to see that in no way shape or form should he be considered for the job. if we eventually appoint someone else it doesnt alter the fact that the board were seriously considering bringing in the manager who just got the blues relegated for the second time in three years. A part of me believes that we are just interviewing McLeish to rub salt in the wounds of SHA...that really would be brilliant stuff. But reality says that a man of Randy's stature would not waste his valuable time interviewing a bloke who he gave no chance of having a role. Although I do like Ponky's thoughts around due diligence on the matter requiring a decent sample of people interviewed...how often would you get a chance as an owner to really pick the brains of a heap of managers without creating chaos?? Maybe Randy is taking this opportunity to do just that, while all the while having settled on Rijkaard, Low, or Van Gaal?
  9. I think you can leave your yoghurt where it is. My guess is if Moyes is our man there will most likely be some sort of agreement to leave their players alone for a couple of transfer windows. I think you may be right...
  10. the Moyes/McLeish merry-go-round makes sense...but these things rarely make sense. Bookies are just covering their margins, and they are making the same assumptions as many on fans. but they are just that...assumptions. I'm as jumpy as the rest on here, but enjoying the ride. I am certain that Randy will make a sound choice, and that it will not please all fans (is this even possible?). That said, a little bit of man-yoghurt might just come out if we sign Moyes, and he brings Tim Cahill and Coleman with him...!
  11. Joachim Lowe Didier Dechamps Frank Rijkaard David Moyes Mark Hughes
  12. Deschamps. Has managed big clubs, enormously well connected and respected by footballers of a generation that knew how good he was as a player. Not to mention the number of young French players with talent that he could attract. We might need a 'no signing any players he played with type clause' to prevent a 'Pires' incident though....
  13. And yet we won the game. If we'd lost you could criticise him for the substitution but as it is it was the right decision. You have absolutely no grounds to say it was the wrong thing to do when the decision is vindicated. I thought it was a good decision on 2 grounds. 1. NRC deserved his applause ofr a great end to the season....he has been immense. 2. Gabby kept Liverpool on the back foot, we had plenty of possession in the end and he nearly scored (or should have).
  14. I think we'll grab a draw. We will set up with a packed midfield and pinch one on the break. It is almost certain that Arsenal will score, so maybe a 1-1?
  15. I didn't know that Villa played in the Bundesliga... I'd like to see a British manager - Hughes, Moyes, McClaren, Lambert, Curbishley or Allardyce. Interesting take on my suggestion.... I see no reason for a British Manager. If you don't like Germans, what about Deschamps...or even Rjikaard?
  16. I'd like to see a German manager. How about a team of Joachim Low and Mathias Sammer? Style, with organisation. I think Low has a contract with German national team until 2014(?), but what an opportunity!
  17. Bulls to go all the way.
  18. Clearly an exciting prospect. Wouldn't mind loaning him to another PL side (ala Sturridge) to really see if he crack it. Chelsea will be creaming themselves, not only over the emergence of another genuine goalscorer, but the increased confidence of the lad.
  19. a good scotch and a good wank.....in no particular order...
  20. Everyone's favourite ref Graham Poll always goes on about 'the contact matching the fall' in his column in the Mail. The ever so slight contact was not commensurate with the double legged-arms out-screaming in pain 'effort' by Jagielka. He is a cheat and I hope karma visits him soon. As for the ref, I hope he enjoyed his last PL game for a while.
  21. Just watched a replay of the game. Even knowing the result I was gutted we didn't take one of our approximately 1 million chances, with Bent and Downing particulary wasteful. The fact we are creating so many chances is a massive positive, and on another day - with a bit of luck and some more clinical finishing - we would have scored more than Bolton. However....our desperation in defence was very much lacking, with everyone waiting for someone else to throw themself in the way, or block a shot...as usually done by Dunne, Collins and Cuellar - experts in this type of defending. I also saw that Cahill had a fistful of Baker's shirt for the first goal - hence stopping him from jumping. Fair play though for Cahill, the guy is all class, as shown by goal number 2.
  22. Did anyone else notice the 2-footed tackle by Palacios in the Spurs/Blackpool game today that was punished with....wait for it..... a free kick. No booking whatsoever. **** referees, they are consistently inconsistent.
  23. Getting 1st, 2nd and 4th on my trifecta bets...regularly....grrrrr!!
