  1. Blasphemy, the founding father were perfect human beings and everything they did or write was perfect for all of eternity. I do agree with the part about government oppression though, that is in their minds all the time, they need to be able to defend themselves from tyrants (as they had just done at the time this was written). These days I doubt Cletus could fight off the US army, the most powerfull army in the world, with his shotgun, or even the Proud Boys, some sort of militia would probably not last more than a few seconds. But still they think they can.
  2. It could benefit both parties. Kompany is still learning his trade and can continue to do so in the championship. He has done reasonably well at Anderlecht. Burnley can benefit from the ‘big name coach’, something we are currently experiencing as well.
  3. What do you mean ‘**** all’, they were the ones trying to help him steal it
  4. I wouldn't say that would be a factor to win or lose a next election, just because an election has never been about gun control (I/we just don't know). Attention is always diverted or pulled towards immigration, the economy, infrastructure,... After Parkland, it seemed the momentum was there to keep gun safety on the agenda, but it fizzled out. I'm not sure, but I think I have seen gun safety always being in the top 10 concerns, but never top 3-5. Edit: found a graph to support my last sentence. Gun control is not a priority issue according to this. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2022/02/16/publics-top-priority-for-2022-strengthening-the-nations-economy/
  5. true as that may be, that'll be just a reason for FOX to say he's politicising this tragedy (which they are already doing). + 'give me a mandate', he's not up for election. Midterms in november could change something, but I doubt it will be in the direction of the democrats.
  6. TBH, I did go and check online sometimes to find out what I had to do or where to go. On the other hand, there is in evey village a guy where you can buy a hint, but especially early on I didn't have too much cash so I started to look on line and that became a habit.
  7. Just finished Earthbound on SNES online. cool game, i had never heard of it in the 90s. It's a long game as well.
  8. I don't get the hate for Leeds. A lot of it originates from that one game back in the championship with the goal when we stopped playing (and it was just one game, the games prior were more business as usual), but other than that? They play dirty, yes, but they do so against everyone, so no real rivalry with just us. We don't compete for the same trophies (neither are in competition for trophies anyway) nor have a geographical link. So why do we have a rivalry? They're a dirty team for sure (so are Burnley) and I'm annoyed with the love from the media, but other than that, I don't care either way about Leeds.
  9. I don’t get this ‘we suffered so others should as well’ mentality. I hope Everton stay up, Burnley add nothing to the league and Leeds I don’t care either way.

    U.S. Politics

I wonder how the conservatives would react to a secession, since they still wave the confederate flag surely they can't oppose if, say, California decides to leave (taking with them enourmous economic power/wealth)

    U.S. Politics

normalising January 6th does not seem like a good idea, so I hope you are using a hyperbole. It should remain a disgrace in US history and not be repeated by either side. If Roe v Wade would be overturned, Trump and Republicans have a strong argument for the next election(s), they have delivered what was promised. On the other side, I does take away one of the main goals of the religious/conservative movement. Next up, LGBTQ+ rights?
  12. We’re 11 points clear as it stands. We didn’t ‘only just beat the drop’
  13. It depends on the requirements for membership. Sweden and Finland seem like countries that could have been members years ago if they wanted to.
  14. Any predictions on here about the play-offs? I'm guessing Huddersfield and Forest are now pretty safe bets, after a quick look on the remaining matches I'll go with Sheffield and Blackburn for the other 2 spots. Forest can win the promotion for me, the others have had recent stints in the PL, so I'm good with other teams having a go. Also, it would add to the value of Davis, maybe an extended loan with them next year in the PL.
  15. I was thinking about getting that. I know there aren't too many games on it, but Zelda OoT and MM + Banjo Kazooie would be a good use of my free time . I got the SNES online basically for Zelda Alttp (my first ever zelda game) and super metroid. Donkey Kong's great fun too

    Overrated Movies

Only the top 2 are good films imo, though I haven't seen Death Proof and the Hateful Eight. In general, I feel Tarantino is overrated. He has a sizeable group of fans who think everything he makes is the coolest thing ever. Granted there are some legendary/cool scenes in some of his films, but they are not masterpieces, not even Pulp fiction (the Uma Thurman segment was boring).
  19. Only 6 points between 3rd and 10th with 8-9 games to go. It's going to be a tight race for the play-offs.
  20. In my memory, McLeish played dire football. With Lambert we were very vulnarable, but at least we tried to win games. So that was at least a step forward
  21. I hope it's Burnley. The bottom 3 as it stands don't offer much in the PL. Burnley have been escaping relegation for years, their time is up. Everton made quite a few wrong decision over the last few years, but I don't want them relegated. Decent club and fans. Leeds and Brentford can stay, but wouldn't mind either way if they went down.
