  1. So I think Bent scores week in, week out! Discuss lol. On a serious note, next season this guy is going to make a huge difference to us. If we get a few things sorted out with the obvious team and manager issues, get some confidence back in the team then this guy should bang in a fair few goals next season.
  2. I'll be too interested and excited byBent to be honest
  3. I totally agree. Also get in some of his own players and I think we do have the right man and this is not based on one result, I think it just needs a mixture of young players and now with the experienced players coming back (now all back apart from Young and Delph) then he will start to find the right mix depending on each game......I hope so because I still believe he is the right man for the job longer term.
  4. I would like to say General that despite only 2 wins in 10 I am happy that GH is our manager, with a few more players and the style of play he is playing it will only be a matter of time that we will start seeing the benefits. Happy with his appointment.
  5. General Have a minor irritation, I have ordered the away kit plus some other gear from the Villa shop. While I understand the kit issue, I sent overnight to your customer service team that seeing as the kit has been delayed could they send me the other items I ordered in a part shipment. This is not allowed as I am overseas, they need to cancel the shirt on the order, I would then submit the order to the sales line, and then separately have to re-order the shirt. Very minor irritation but surely we can part-ship orders as I thought the idea was to make ordering easier for customers. I thought it was down to overseas shipping costs but they say no the other items would be shipped for free. I have a tendancy to buy a lot of items off the internet and always pre-order items and companies always part-ship items as and when they come available. Even in this instance surely because of the Nike delay all orders that have other items should be viewed and those items be shipped to customers?
  6. I think GH is a great appointment, I'm surprised by a lot of the negative feeling
  7. Go one step further, of the other PL managers at each club, who would people accept......Fergie, Wenger, Hodgson, Moyes, Ancelotti.....I'm struggling after that to be honest and none of them are coming......shows lack of serious managerial talent in this country
  8. Not really, it also shows the current lack of available managerial talent(whether at a club or free agent). How many managers out there would be acceptable for a lot on this forum, you'd probably only get a dozen names of all managers at any club or free agent
  9. I dont like this DOF rubbish, give us a manager and if you want certain coaches then fine but DOF and managers always clash at some point
  10. General, I hope we are going to approach a manager from another club then as just going through all the available managers with PL experience that are currently unemployed it's a very thin list and to be honest not a great list. I, like you, just want the right man for the job and the likes of Southgate, McLaren and Curbs scare the life out of me, hopefully Randy has in mind somebody I've not thought about. I hope Randy has a very successful week in appointing somebody and us fans not be too disappointed in that appointment. Nick
  11. Load of bollocks. If I'm already on £30,000 a week, that's not even 3 years wages for some people and I know I've got a place in the team then I'd come out and do something most players are scared shitless to do and say '**** Man City and the money, I'm not joining a team where I'll be struggling for playing time'. And the funny thing is I'd have expected Milner to be the most sensible about it all. Christ knows what's gonna happen if Ash or Gabby get approached... Really, I agree if I was a Villa fan and playing for Villa but if I had no links to Villa then I wouldnt. Forget about comparing to the common man that went many years ago, if any of you guys got offered double your current salary at another company, whether you are on 10k, 50k, 100k per year you would go unless you had some ties with the company surely? Even if somebody worked at Microsoft earning 1m a year and Steve Jobs came along and offered 2m surely that would turn the persons head somewhat.....the vast majority of the human race want to earn more no matter what level you are at....its a human trait somewhat, not how much money you need to live/survive, it's how much money you can earn.......Remember at the end of the day Villa is OUR life, but for the players it's a job and only occasionally do players in this day and age grow an affinity to the club they play for.
  12. that away kit is awesome, good job lmarsha_926
  13. Winners in the last ten years outside the top four Leicester Blackburn Middlesborough Spurs Other finalists in the last ten years outside the top four Tranmere Blose Spurs Bolton Wigan The above just tells me that it isnt a sign of progression, it's not even a cup respected and doesnt show you have progressed. Add to that the teams we have played to get to the Semi's, hardly tough was it. Don't get me wrong I want to win it but a sign of progression to me is fourth place. It shows we have played everybody and all want to do as well as possible in the league and you have become the fourth most successful that season over 38 games. Surely that is more progession that a few easy games in a competition that the big boys don't really take seriously.
  14. after running back in 11 hours from setting off the Sydney NYE fireworks
  15. Bigup yaself that guy on the left is playing rock, paper, scissors edit: damn it, missed the post above...........
  16. It's a quality post by Pilchard, probably the best I've seen on this site and sums up everything I am feeling
  17. No change, happy the way everything is
  18. Hey general, Not sure whether this has been mentioned but I wonder if we could ever hold a match against Juan Pablo Angel's team like a first game of pre season or something if MON would be interested because as shown by one of the polls on this message board he was a bit of a hero (over 70%) and unfortunately we never got to give him a proper send off so would be really nice if he could appreciate what we thought of him before he retired in a few years time. Cheers Nick
  19. Sad sad news about Bouma, really hope everything gets better for him as he has been a great servant for us in his few years here and was immense last season. On a lighter note, it now looks like we will need more of your family members to play for our team, what with Mrs K playing right back, do you have any brothers or sisters that could play left back???!!!
  20. arent they the same thing, just one is oh so very slightly more polite than the other
  21. Also isnt Rafa damaging Barry's career??? from Barry's point of view. Somehow some time ago Barry found out Rafa wanted him, he like the idea of going to Liverpool and thus his mind wandered....He thought it would only be time before he goes, Villa set a price which everybody estimates is 18m, Rafa continues to bid nowhere near that..... Rafa wanted him on the cheap, he has made an England International, a club captain and hero at a club going places....into a player that is booed, has no future currently unless the said Rafa pays up and thus could be sitting on the Villa bench for a while longer and if his move doesnt happen then it will take a very long time for him to get back in the team and even more debatable if the Villa fans will accept him back...... So in some ways if Rafa doesnt pay the asking price, which he has known for some time then surely he is also damaging Barry's career from barry's point of view????? Rafa just wanted a cheap deal and cam up against MON
  22. What the ****? He is contracted to the Villa. If he don't like that, he can stick a transfer request in. He hasn't. Okay, I'll type it in bold then. I'm talking from Gareth Barry's point-of-view, in response to a poster who was also talking from Gareth Barry's point-of-view. Clear? I imagine that Gareth Barry is kicking himself for signing a four year contract that he can't get out of easily. If he had not tried to get himself a transfer to Liverpool, his career would be doing fine - with a team on the up, and breaking into the England side again. Who is doing most damage to Gareth Barry's career? Gareth Barry. He could be doing a hell of a lot worse than playing for Villa, that's for sure. But it's difficult to argue that he doesn't know himself what's best for his career. I suppose that also depends on the future as well I mean if he gets very little playing time at Liverpool or Liverpool go on a slump and end up fifth (say for arguments sake Everton get fourth) then Rafa maybe sacked, Torres might leave....and the new manager doest like Barry.....then Gareth Barry has gone from a club that he is a hero at, the manager loves and he's the captain of, also he is playing for England......so he has ruined his career..... I mean look at the players it's happened to.......where it hasnt improved their careers Bosnich from Villa to Man U Sidwell Kewell Shevchenko Darren Bent Jeffers and these are just a few, and I agree there are successes as well.....but who knows until you have hindsight whose ruining whose career....MON is just stalling Barry's History shows us that the grass isn't always greener. Whether or not Barry makes the best decisions for his career, it's still his career and those decisions should be his to make. But of course, there is more to consider than just what Gareth Barry wants. What I would say is that O'Neill is walking a bit of a tightrope. Although he has every right to demand the full asking price, if his unwillingness to negotiate is purely a matter of pride and principle, it'll be the player who suffers and unfairly so, in my opinion. Are you still on that line about MON unwillingness....geez no wonder I havent read the barry threads for ages.....MON set a price a long time ago, told Liverpool....Liverpool havent met....end of story.......he even tried to help by, his words, putting a proposal back to Liverpool which unless I have missed something Liverpool havent responded to yet..... Liverpool have always known the score!!!!! They know the price they either want to pay it or they dont.
