  1. Can anybody defend McLeish on this performance, I'd love to know the reasons....
  2. This is embarrassing. We can't pass, we can't defend and I haven't seen a constructive attack.......the players look like they have no idea
  3. Monica Bellucci and Stevie Nicks are the older ones that tickles the lower regions
  4. We have lost twice in 11 league games!! I stand corrected, forgot about Man City. I dont think he's done well all things considered....compare the teams we have played to the ones we are about to play. This is a time when we needed points in the bag to cover the hard times that are coming over the next few months. We said at the beginning he needed to get off to a great start with the fixtures he had, his results have been ok at the very best although that wouldnt be my view
  5. ok, here's my attempt: 1) Give him time to settle & mould the team (more than the 10 games he's had so far). 2) good defensively apparently. Our defence has been awful for almost 2 years now, so maybe its the players rather than the manager who are rubbish. 3) It would cost £5m to sack him. 4) Could we get anyone better, for the same salary, and working to the same limited budget. 5) Randy & his team must have seen something in him that they thought would be beneficial to Villa. 6) Did decent-ish at Rangers. 7) Won a major cup with a poor side at Bham City. 8) "He's our manager so we have to support him" :winkold: (i'm not saying i agree with all those points above, just listing the points that could be made). Not commenting on you to start with! but we are really scraping the barrel on them for him....only number 2 and 7 are anything to do with his ability...maybe 6 but that's iffy given who Rangers are in the SPL
  6. I went for Houllier even though I dont think he was the right manager, Alex McLeish is not up to being our manager, he's just not good enough and I agree Houllier's performance last season wasnt great by a long way but McLeish for me is way out of his depth in so many areas of his ability and even though he can say the right things somewhat there is nothing behind it. I have no interest in him, I will support the club and the team but I hope his time is short with the club so we can move on and up.
  7. Everton is not a great example considering they regularly boo their team off and have recently held protests over the ownership of the club. I will always support the Club and the players on the pitch, especially during that 90 minutes on the pitch, but there is no getting away from the fact that Alex McLeish was always the most illogical decision I have seen made at this club in many, many years. We could have done worse? I'd strongly disagree with that. We could have done a hell of a lot better. I agree, I will support the team and the club but McLeish is a different story until he convinces me otherwise
  8. Yeah that's all I want now. I accept we aren't going to challenge for anything, I accept we aren't going to spend much money but two things I would like is Effort and a bit of entertainment, which certainly isn't from the current style of football.
  9. Stats show we had 1 shot on target all game and 3 off target. We can be the better team but we never do anything with it
  10. I liked how he played before the error of the sending off. He was far more effective than Delph has been.
  11. I just can't stand McLeish, just have no confidence in him and yes we were unlucky to go down to 10 men but he was useless again and has been from the beginning....only Blackburn was something half decent. Well I gave him a chance like some asked....now I'm more hacked off with him, he's even more useless than I thought and the football is awful. I'm watching the game and thinking of other things, like what I need to do after the match etc etc and I fear for our position for the season but I'm just as fearful of 3 years of this....depressing!
  12. This thread is turning into a bizarre conversation, for me Bent is what we have brought him in for, to score goals. He would be the player that out of all the players, that I would be gutted if he left and I actually dont say that about many of our players at the moment.
  13. problem with that though in today's football, any kid who shows the slightest bit of potential sees his value sky rocket, which looks like it will be out of our league and that's if a bigger club doesn't come and get him first.
  14. I thought he was ok, didn't think he was dire at all. Had issues with other players but Hutton was fairly ok, could've been a lot better I agree but was ok
  15. We robbed Newcastle, they deserved the 3 points....thank god for the point for us. Embarrassing!
  16. A number of chances but not great chances, no surprise seeing as we let go our two best creative players. Defense looked a little shaky but held firm, not sure whether that was due to quality of the opposition or our defence. Great game from Gabby, and I'm still liking the look at the potential of Delph
  17. Not writing him off as such. Just wondering what he offers to the team other than a quick short five yard pass that our other midfielders (Petrov, Delph, Ireland, Bannan) can all complete. All of these other players mentioned have other attributes that Makoun has not shown as of yet which has worried me about him. I think it is different as he doesn't touch then pass, he just passes and this is a distinct difference. The reason being is that split second is the difference between the defender being set to defend or still awkwardly standing or not correctly standing, allowing Bent to get in and that 1 yard ahead. I think that's Makoun gives us or his ability can give us eventually that our other midfielders can't.
  18. I think Makoun has some real potential which we have yet to unearth or utilize, plus he's only been here 6 months
  19. Please let Makoun go, anything you can get for him would be great. Anything to reduce the wage bill, we don't need midfielders, we shouldn't give anybody a chance. If there is a chance to sell somebody please do because our goal is to reduce our wage bill, not to play football, not to have quality in the squad, not to play attractive football. Our aim has to be to get the wage bill as low as possible, a pretty hotel and a nice new program, which was lovely. Any chance of this happening soon?
  20. I sit here on the first day of the season writing a few hours before watching our first game. Normally I'm really excited and feeling this could be the year to win the FA Cup, maybe we can surprise a few and pinch 4th in the league.....all dreams but that's the excitement of the first day, the over expectations or dreams of the elusive. This season though I sit here writing, still very excited but very worried, hoping that we get off to a good start so we are not fighting relegation battle all season, that key players don't get injured because we don't have quality to back them up......the board have changed us from dreaming of what could be to fearing what could happen by your actions....
  21. Why when something good happens to me, something equally bad happens to me straight afterwards and vice versa. Seems to be very equal in goodness and badness. Happened again today, something great happened this morning and then something of equal measure in my mind anyway of badness happened this afternoon. I even expect it these days. If something bad happens I expect something good later to happen.......instant balance in the world. I know I sound loopy.....
  22. Will there be any other comments/announcements/statements coming from Randy over the next few weeks?
