Hi General, I think it us that has to thank you. I'm back from Australia for 10 days to visit family for christmas but my first stop is Villa Park to get tickets for the game on Saturday. I moved to Aus 4 years ago for work (hard work I know with all the sun, surf and some other stuff) but after following Villa home and away for my previous 27 years of my life it's hard not being able to do that anymore although I do get to see 90% of Villa games on Australian TV which not the same does keep me in touch. To my point though, what you and Randy have done is amazing and I'm so looking forward to going to Villa Park tomo. Many thanks General Nick

Just a slight correction: I didn't say the deal was 95% done, I said that I was 95% certain he'll sign for Spurs (this remains my view) - there's a difference between the two things. However, we are now around 2 weeks further on from my earlier posting, and I believe there's a good chance that a deal may be publicly announced sometime before the end of next week. Here's hoping that my moving to correct a slight misreprentation of what I previously said won't attract any great degree of hostility . I have no hostility to a historically only a cup team with a small stadium whose always been in the shadows of it's nearest neighbours :winkold:

i think we are getting a bit too excited about the potential of some of our youngsters........they are good, and i agree we have to buy a lot better than what we have........but there is only a few of our youngsters that could be awesome

No, he gives you the luxury of letting your world class players do their thing. He'd be wasted in the same way Mascherano was at West Ham. Can see what you're saying but, he also allows attacking players to attack....yes we dont have world class players but we do have a lot of attacking players and they always know he'd be there if they went attacking....so I slightly disagree with you

If Man U get Hargreaves, how a punt for giggs.....we saw what Berger has done for us, Giggs is a step up from that and for a season or two would be excellent....not sure he'd leave man u though but you never know

no to zenden, not even for a squad player, we need better than that....our current midfielders should be squad players next season and I'm not convinced Zenden would get in that team.

Yeah but if we bring in players that are better than what we've got then surely thats better for us and obviously that will push Gabby and Luke further down the list. Our aim must be to keep improving on what we've got.....whether home grown or not, the next signing must be to bring in a better player or somebody better for the team than the person in that position... I am now not convinced that the players we may bring in up front will be better than what we have got. I also think that Gabby and Luke can be at least as good as Bent. Don't get me wrong, signing Bent, Defoe etc... would be great, I am just wary of the fact that you can't keep everyone happy. I kind of agree with you, the only thing that bugs me is our goals for column is not good enough, and yes I know our midfield dont create enough and Carew, Maloney and Young have only been here a few months, Gabby and Moore are only really getting their chances now, this season but watching us sometimes, we dont have a killer instinct...the game against Sheff Utd, we scored three, yes i agree but we could have easily scored more....and how many games this season have we just not been able to get that goal when we've been on top....thats the difference between top four and mid table, and thats obviously our aim.......of course our team is new and young and will develop....so I'm in a quandry myself whether we need more up front.....maybe our focus this summer should be everything but attack and only if somebody special comes along do we go for them......good job we have MON to make these decisions rather than me......
