  1. I don't think he deserves a new deal purely based on our start to this season but I think he deserves a new deal based on how he has kept us up the last 2 seasons and has now built a squad that will just get better in the coming years. If he can grow a beard of Keanos standard then I'd offer him a 20 year contract asap.
  2. I see Bennett is getting slated again by the Brighton fans, he was at fault for the 2 goals they conceded in their last game also. Gardner performances will hopefully improve as his fitness improves.
  3. I thought his set-pieces were brilliant today.
  4. Goose - 6 Hutton - 7 Senderos - 9(MOTM) Baker - 9 Cissokho - 8 Westwood - 8 Delph - 6 Cleverley - 7 Richardson - 6 Weimann - 6 Gabby - 8 Subs: Zog - 6 The Rock - 6 Bent - 5 Lambert - 9 Lambert's Beard - 11 We looked so solid and barely gave them a sniff. Senderos was an absolute beast and caused them loads of trouble from set-pieces. Baker had probably his best game for us and hopefully he will kick on now as he has the attributes to be a solid centre back. Cleverley played some really nice interplay and looked good. The delivery from Westwood on set-pieces was top class again and Gabby got another important goal.
  5. 3-1 Villa is 100/1. Put your wages on it.
  6. Just thought I'd bump this thread as he is getting talked about a lot in the Westwood thread. He just turned 23 and for a new player to the league he had a strange season last year, he had some great moments and then some horrible moments. I really hope he learns from his mistakes and improves his decision making as he has great attributes and I believe he can become a solid RB or winger.
  7. He has more energy than Westwood, will get up and down the pitch more which will be needed in this game. In my line up he'd be playing aslong side Delph, Sanchez and Cleverley. IMO you pick players who's abilities can match your opposistion, not on current form. But then I guess everyone is different. Westwood has some great attributes and I really rate him as a player, but he wouldn't start every game. Bacuna takes way too long on the ball for me and his distribution is hit and miss. We would suffer badly if we dropped Westwood for Bacuna imo. I see Bacunas future out wide or maybe at RB. I agree his distribution can be hit and miss, but I dont think were going to see much of the ball to be honest. Yeah but when we do have the ball it's important to have a reliable passer over a hit and miss passer. Quite, I know what you're saying. I do have a counter argument to that but it would be going way off the topic of Westwood Yeah I get what you're saying and Bacuna would offer more energy and be a bit stronger for when we don't have the ball, just comes down to personal preference I guess.

  9. That's a joke. Westwood is a decent player, but he is nowhere near International quality. I watched the last England game and Wilshire played in Westwoods position and was terrible again. Westwood shouldn't be too far away from getting into that squad, if he has a solid season this year I'd expect him to be in the squad or very close to making it.

  11. If Randy gets Vlaar, Delph and Grealish on new contracts then he is back in my good books!
  12. It's very possible that his private life has had an effect on him being 100% the player he should be for us but his defensive positioning is really bad and he doesn't have the pace to recover when he is caught out, I think that this will be the main reason why he doesn't make it with Villa.
  13. The ref has been shit, giving everything to Germany. German guy should of been sent off there also
  14. On what basis would you drop Westwood and Richardson to bring in Cleverley and The Rock. ? What have Cleverley and The Rock done to impress you enough to drop two of our best players so far this season?
  15. Nice one. It was a fairly shit performance but that was a great goal to win it, bout time McGeady did that for us
  16. Jasus he is making early subs by his standards
  17. Keane looks slow, he's offering nothing. Get Long and Wes on
  18. That was some strike, we look dodgy at the back. Wilson is full of errors and Ward isn't a defender. Hopefully Wes comes on in the 2nd half.
  19. So even though he's been really good so far, we still need to replace him? Will the underrating ever stop? Yes because that's how you get better. You improve. Yes, you're right. So you'd bench a constantly improving player? Which completely goes against what you're talking about. I didn't say drop him right away but the midfield is an area that needs to improve and we've just signed two players to do just that. Regardless of how likeable a player is we need to continue to improve. With the defence now sorted and benteke back in full training the midfield is the key area now. I think Westwood is playing very well but I think we can do better. It's got nothing to do with him being 'likeable'. He is being judged on how he plays, since xmas last year he has been playing great despite our overall performances being pretty average. The only genuine criticism of him has been that he is not a DMF and also his corners. He will get more help now if he is asked to play DMF but I think he will be playing a more central role in midfield now and the experience of playing DMF will improve his overall game. His corners and set-pieces have been good this year and I hope he isn't told to hit in floaters when Benteke comes back.
  20. That's not a bad line up tbf although it won't look so good when it comes to taking on the Germans. I know nothing about Georgia and have no clue how the match will play out but with that team we should be able to create some good chances.
  21. Ha I was at it. It was such a non-event, we just stayed in the lobby drinking pints after half time. Typical of the FAI to set up a joke of a game before an important qualifier. I think the attendance was 14,000. :/
