  1. Always I always remember the Aussies in 2005 celebrating the draw at old Trafford as being the moment we finally knew we'd recapture the ashes. Winners win. Losers talk about how they nearly won,or could've won,or should've won,and celebrate draws. I see the Southampton game has joined the list of those it is OK to lose..... We battled hard in the 3 games I'm referring to and could easily of picked up more than 1 point, that's the main point I'm trying to make. People are making out like we have been terrible in every game and deserved to lose them all which is complete crap imo and an over reaction just to justify their opinion of Lambert. Not every game, but some are talking about the entire period under Lambert. Stoke - we were solid and organised, not much of threat but we scored against a very lame side Newcastle - same as above, Newcastle created a lot more than we did but we worked our asses off. Leyton Orient - lots of possession, no end product, got sucker punched right at the death. So much like recent cup defeats under Lambert. Hull - we played well for at least 50 minutes, actually attacked and showed brief signs of creativity. We nearly threw it away towards the end though. Liverpool - we came out of the blocks like a steam train and for a moment you saw everything that could be good about our current team. After the goal we shut up shop. Some would say that was wise under the circumstances, i would say we could have kept attacking. But we won so who cares what I think. Arsenal - Hard to judge this one due to the stomach bug, defensively we imploded though and in the second half it was damage limitation but you can't really blame Lambert for this one. Chelsea - Utterly meak, gutless performance, we never even tried to compete. Man City - We can't be faulted on effort, but ultimately as we've found time and time again we can't just defend for 90 mins. Everton - see Chelsea but more embarassing because it was Everton QPR - We actually played some decent football but lacked a cutting edge, I will stick my neck out and say we did not deserve to lose this one. Spurs - I will agree with most that we should not have thrown this away, but how many times can you say 'we did not deserve' and make anyone other than fans of this club believe that. West Ham - Fleeting signs of the Villa that showed up vs Hull and Liverpool, but our offensive play is still disjointed and if it wasn't for Guzan we would have lost this. Yes Hammers are the form team so i'm glad we got something. All this doesn't disguise the fact we are no better than last season or the season before, in some ways we are worse. Good post and I agree with nearly all of it but I'm prepared to wait and see how we are going at Xmas as we started this season well but have since gone to shit, I was pissed off after the Qpr game as it was another loss and wanted to see a response from the team after that game. We have since put in 2 good performances and if we can keep that up along with getting Benteke in the team then I think we will start winning again.
  2. Westwood is a neat and tidy midfielder - but how many times a season does he impose himself on a game? Last season it was one. A good premier league midfielder will impose himself on a game. I agree, he has areas he needs to improve on. I guess we'll see how he gets on over this season and hopefully he keeps improving.
  3. Well no, not really. You really think 3 interceptions and 2 key passes is something to rave about? I said he played 'good'. Hardly raving about his performance am I? I think all of our midfield played good yesterday.

  5. You could say this for every game we play. Maybe then we deserved a point in the Chelsea game. Your not making any sense in your defence of Lambert I'm just stating that we have played good in our last 3 games and are unlucky to of only taken 1 point, imo I'm not over-reacting. If we had played like complete shit and been dominated in all of our last 3 then I'd be calling for Lambert to go but we haven't, we could of had 3/4 goals vs Spurs, we most likely would of won if Benteke stayed on the pitch. Qpr barely had any chances and we gifted them the second. I don't think it's too over the top to say we could easily of taken 3/5 points out of them 3 games with a few breaks going our way.
  6. My opinion gets shot down by over reactionary dribble so forgive me if I decide to play along sometimes. Could it not be said that the negative crap spouted by some could be classed as better fan bollox when people inform me that I'm wrong and they are right or is it only when being positive that one can be seen to be classing themselves as better fans?
  7. I honestly believe we deserved a point vs West Ham due to how hard we battled and we defended well, I believe we deserved at least a point vs Spurs and most likely would of won if Benteke stayed on and I think we were unlucky to lose to Qpr as they basically took their only chance of the first half and we gifted them the second.
  8. The players are still playing for him and we have played good in the last 3 games and are unlucky not to picked up more than a point in them 3 games. I'm happy to give him til Xmas and see how things pan out when we have a slightly less forgiving set of fixtures.
  9. Or maybe it's down to certain people not knowing what they are talking about and only notice a player if he scores from 30 yards or has an exceptional game each week. Sorry to break it to you guys but he had a good game yesterday, AGAIN!
  10. Ha I'm just sick of all the negativity around here and it would be nice to talk about some positives for once. We haven't been terrible these last 3 games and have been unlucky to of only taken a point but people are just way too pessimistic to even notice and are going way over the top with the negativity. I could of worded my post a bit better but I feel like Lambert gets too much of the blame and not enough credit most of the time.
  11. One or two improvements, versus 12/13 who have gone backwards. Do you REALLY want to go there? Oooops I forgot, Negativity Rules. \m/
  12. That block after Gooses save was epic haha, he had 3 interceptions today and 2 key passes, one of which was a first time pass that set Gabby on his way when he blasted over but I guess not too many people on here would of noticed his good work as they were probably too busy moaning....
  13. I thought he had a good game today and did some really good defensive work
  14. and is that really acceptable? Considering we were missing Benteke and Kozak and were playing the form team in the league then I'd class it as acceptable. We put some good crosses in today also which would of lead to more chances if we had a proper striker. Missing Benteke and Kozak shouldn't affect chances created, just chances taken If they were both clones of Darren Bent then maybe but they are modern day strikers and offer a whole lot more than just being there to bury the chances that the rest of the team put on a plate for them, They both would of held the ball up and helped us keep the ball better and they both would of been alot more dangerous than Gabby or Weimann on crosses and would of given us alot more options going forward.
  15. Yes, we didn't play well today or against QPR. To claim they are both good performances is a bit much. Today we defended well and got a bit lucky that they were off form upfront and against QPR we kept the ball better and did absolutely nothing with it. We did play well today, we deserved the point and had some decent chances, with better attacking options we would of caused alot more danger for West Ham. We did play well vs QPR, we were all over them in the first half and they just got the the breaks in that game and came away with a nearly 100% goals to chances conversion rate. You probably spent more time in the match thread moaning than actually watching and analysing the game. What decent chances did we have today? And were they better than the chances sakho, downing, carrol and jenkinson had? If your analysis of the last 3 games is that we were good in all of them then yes i probably am doing something different. Weimann had a shot from the peno spot that pulled a good save out of Adrian, Gabby blasted over from close range. Thats 2 decent chances. What has West Hams chances got to do with anything? Did I say we had more or better chances than them? So 2 half chances. Not once did we manage to break down west ham, just like we failed to do so against QPR. The fact they had better chances makes is difficult to agree with your assumption that a couple of half chances makes that a good performance. I never stated that it was a good performance simply because we had a few good chances. It was a good performance because we battled hard and grinded out a point vs the form team in the league. We defended well and I thought our strikers did a good job of putting pressure on their defenders. I also thought the midfield did well today. My main gripe with the performance was our inability to stop the crosses coming into the box and I thought Lowton was woeful bar the last 10 minutes when he made some good tackles

  17. Was a beast today and thankfully didn't make a major mistake. He has been decent in his last 3 games and basically ruined 2 solid performances with stupid mistakes which are down to fitness imo especially vs Spurs. He looked wrecked tired in the last 10 minutes today and hopefully he will be upto full fitness after the International break. Another potentially good Lambert signing?

  19. Does Lambert get any credit for his improvement or is it only negative things that we credit the manager with? He was a warrior today apart from when he fell over Carlton Coles foot and was blessed not to of given a penalty away.

  21. So I make it slightly better in defence, and a pale shadow in attack. And I bet you thought mcleish wasn't doing well enough. Didn't we all? McLeish's team played like Lambert's, except that McLeish's team had a younger Gabby, a Darren Bent who was more or less on fire, Petrov to provide creativity, and a pre-injury N'Zogbia who had been brilliant in his previous season. Lambert has none of these, and we still demand to see an attacking behemoth of a side?! Do we? Or do we just expect a team that doesn't lose 50% of the time and can score more than 4 goals in 11 games. Quick question for you. Name the 2 strikers that Paul Lambert has spent decent money on and then go figure the rest out for yourself?
  22. The players are still playing for the manager and are giving it their all, we needed a result today and we got it and for once we had a few lucky breaks. We have played good in our last 3 games despite all the pressure and the bad run and have been unlucky to of not picked up more than 1 point, anybody think different?.
  23. Wow such doom and gloom, surprise surprise. We battled well and had a good % of the ball, created some decent chances and looked dangerous on the break. We had some luck and for once we got a few breaks which is what we needed to end our horrible run and to get a result against the form team in the league. We have played some good stuff in our last 3 games and are really hard done by to of only taken 1 point from them. Cheer up you miserable bunch!! Sanchez/Goose MOTM
  24. Are you serious, we have been played off the park for 95% of the half. West Ham have had 60% possession but in your eyes they have played us off the park for 95% of the half. Go back to school!
