  1. Yes but a players own testimony is evidence. So the SFA are basically saying that they believe Logan (and anyone else who gave evidence) over Tonev, which they are entitled to do.
  2. 5 defeats and no goals in 5 games. Worst league run in the club's history according to sky. Don't see the rot ending against spurs next week. Benteke needs to hit some form.
  3. Ok here's another one, not sure whether it's already been done - Kevin Gage. Only saw him play once but always saw his name in the squad list on the back page of programs.
  4. Thought Curcic was actually a very good player. Saw him in Stoodie Bakers once. Such a big nose. Anyone remember that free kick he scored when he flicked it up and volleyed into the net? Wasn't the flicked up and volleyed free-kick scored by Mark Draper? Perhaps there were two. I stand corrected - it was Draper. He did score a screamer once though.

  6. I never read that. I only ever read that it was agreed plan by helenius and Lambert that he wouldn't play for a year. Quite clearly that's rubbish. Hopefully he gets himself better and returns for another chance. This board was full of it ' He should be fit by now, why is Holt starting and not Helenius, why did Lambert sign him and not play him, Lambert is clueless' Then we had ' I know from a mate from a mate from a mate that the guys attitude stinks, that's why he isn't in the frame. Just goes to show we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes sometimes. Fair point there Rodders
  7. I actually quoted that to a Man U friend of mine back in the day. My argument was plain and simple - Keane is a word removed. I don't think anyone is saying the man is a saint. He is however, hard as nails, and he's on our side. Lets suspend our morals for the time being until we get relegated or he eats Tekkers. What? I'm glad he's (presumably) having the desired effect on the Villa squad, but it doesn't change the fact that Roy Keane was an absolute tosser as a player/human being. Personally, I won't be "suspending my morals" and praising him unduly in a funny way simply because he's at our club (see; the contrast between this and the Tonev thread). Its not "praise" though it is - its a joke. We're creating a caricature of Keane whilst poking fun at ourselves for enjoying the upturn in the teams results. I can't speak for everyone but I reckon most Villatalkers (including myself) who posted in this thread for a bit of light amusement in the afternoon agree he is (or was) a tosser. There's not need to get all serious. Its like the Title Chase thread. We don't all believe we're going to win the title. Its a bit of fun at the overreaction we sometimes see on here when we win or lose. We are going to win the title though.
  8. Adam Boulding wasn't it? Not sure where he went.. GT mark II at his finest Beat me to it. He scored as well - a pre-season game. Lee Hendrie also scored. Think it was Michael rather than Adam Boulding though.

  10. Isn't it? Hilarious that we all thought he was a load of old crap and was a scape goat for the McLeish era. We hoped he would move to another club, even on a free. Hilarious that we went and spanked £3mil on a right back from Sheffield United because he was young and the club thought we'd save money on wages overall. That same right back isn't even 2nd choice anymore. Hilarious that we were leaking goals for 2 years when Hutton was smashing it whenever he played for Scotland, but we left him out anyway out of principle. Hilarious that he's now come back in and playing a blinder. Hilarious that we're now pleased he signed another contract. Hilarious that we're 2nd in the league. Not wishing to speak for Omarigy, but he may be looking at the whole "Hutton episode" and referring to the club as opposed to Hutton himself. You are probably right and I certainly got that too, it is indeed a farce - but one of the points I was making is that the fans (including myself) are just as guilty of performing a U turn as the club. I mean, if someone would have told us in January that we'd offer Hutton a new contract and most of us would be pleased about it, we would have laughed at them. I wonder if we'll sign Barry Bannan in the January transfer window funded by Doug Ellis' millions.

That same right back isn't even 2nd choice anymore. The same right back who's goal at Stoke had a massive hand in keeping us up, and his man of the match performance against Sunderland also had a big bearing on us getting the 3 points. Yes I agree he did contribute to us staying up that season but I was referring to the farce of bombing out Hutton, spending money on Lowton as a replacement, continuing to pay Hutton's wages for two years whilst announcing he won't play for the club again and then bringing him back and offering him a new contract.

  13. Just noticed this story. What a surprise. Villa the booby prize for Cleverley.
  14. I'm flattered we've been referred to us as a 'middle of the road club'. I've considered us to be relegation fodder the past 3 years. Middle of the road is definitely an improvement. Up the villa
  15. Why are people now doubting this deal, was it something said on SSN?
  16. Haven't felt this sad since King Carlos left us. Always pulled his weight. All the best
  17. ....has become Forest's Chief Exec. In case anyone cares... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28969927 Nottingham Forest appoint Mark Faulkner as chief executive Nottingham Forest have confirmed Paul Faulkner as their new chief executive. Faulkner, who was chief executive at Premier League side Aston Villa until last month, fills a role that has been vacant since Mark Arthur left Forest in January 2013. He was Villa's chief operating officer before his promotion in May 2010 and also took on the role of Premier League representative on the FA Board. Faulkner will begin his new role with Forest on Monday, 1 September.
  18. I don't know him but I love him. What an absolutely belting story.
  19. We seem to do quite well when we deal with Liverpool. Players we bought and turned out well: Saunders, Staunton, Houghton. (didn't we have Steve McMahon as well?) Players we sold and made a killing from: Downing for £20mil (ha ha)
  20. The best parading I ever saw was Ulises de la Cruz. He was wearing an all white suit with a black shirt underneath with most of the buttons undone holding up a Villa scarf. It looked like a scene from the Fast Show.
